Chapter Five
Chapter Five
I could feel it. I was almost there, to the island I'll start my new life on. My food supply was already down to tiny bits of bread and an apple. I continued to row onward, and spotted the silhouette of the island. I rowed a bit faster, excited at the idea of my new life. Just then, lightning brightened up the sky and thunder rumbled everywhere. Oh no. I rowed frantically, trying to reach the island before a storm came. But it was too late. The waves around me began to rise higher than before. And when I turned my head around, a tremendous wave wider and taller than me swallowed me, turning the world black.

Hiccup stormed out of the house. After arguing with his dad about the betrothal, he left his dad and I standing there. Before he took off with Toothless, he glanced back at me. His forest green eyes shone a faint hint of hopelessness. Turning away, he mounted Toothless and flew off.
When Hiccup flew out of the village and disappeared from view, Stoick sighed disappointedly. "Astrid, I'm really sorry about this." he apologized. I smiled a faint smile at him. "It's alright." I responded back.
But the truth was, I was not alright. I was far from being alright. I had a feeling that the betrothal wouldn't be canceled, and I was right. As I stepped out the doorway, the door slammed shut behind me a second later.
I slid down onto the floor, looking up at the evening sky. Tears threatened to drip out of my eyes, but I forced myself not to. Crying won't make any difference to this situation. I shut my eyes, dreaming of a world without any problems or hardships, and enjoying the warm breeze flowing through my hair.
All of a sudden, I felt a presence somewhere near me. I curled my fingers into a fist, and as I opened my eyes, I thrust my fist out. The person in front of me shrieked, her voice sounding a lot like Hean's. I stopped my punch just in time; it was only an inch away from her stomach.
Hean fell backward, landing with a soft 'oof '. I quickly crawled over to her, hoping she was not hurt.
"I'm so sorry! Are you alright?" I exclaimed as I helped her sit up. Hean smiled widely at me. "No worries! I'm alright!" she assured.
After I stood up, I reached a hand out for her to grab onto. "I'm going to take you back to your parents." I told Hean. She nodded her head, and off we went through the village.
"I wish you were my sister." Hean blurted out all of a sudden. I looked towards her, wondering how nice it would be to have a little sister. "Me too." I replied back, smiling at her. Hean smiled back at me, and said something I didn't really understand. "You will be soon. Just wait a few days."
I stood there staring at her as she skipped to the house she was staying in. Waving good bye, she disappeared through the doorway.
What did she mean by that? I thought while walking back to Stormfly. When I reached my dragon, I still couldn't make sense of what Hean had said.
Sighing in frustration, I grasped my head. This life is so confusing! Just then, a sudden headache came out of nowhere, overwhelming me with pain. Then, the world went black.
