Chapter 14
'' That's 'Odin's mark'! '' Sonja practically shrieks.
''And it's glowing!'' Ronja added, just as loudly.
***EMS***
I burst out laughing at my younger- self's reaction to the 'Mark of Odin', and it was immediately echoed by Gothi's loud, raspy vocal chuckles from a seat somewhere behind me.
Other Villagers were quick to join in on the laughter, too.
'' That was just about everyone's exact reaction when Gothi here told them you bore the 'Mark of Odin' on your left arm, Ronja,'' Stoick guffawed, sharing an amused expression with my father.
'' Not to mention, my relations reaction upon Sigrun showing the mark to them back when she first became apart of my second cousin's family,'' Klaus added with a wink in the older male's direction.
'' I certainly was extremely surprised when I first saw on Ronja's arm, but even more so when the thing started glowing last night. And it wasn't just the 'Mark of Odin' that glowed,'' Snotlout asked with a faint, nervous chuckle as he glanced at my wrapped arm.
'' The Mark is still there, father, albeit it looks rather grotesque now with the scar running over it,'' I answered with a sheepish grin to my face.
My father grimaced deeply at the reminder that I'd apparently been one of the few young ones that had faced permanent marks from the battle against the Dragon Queen.
'' Oh no, it looks morbidly cool, one might say,'' Tuffnut cut in, rolling his 'r' rather obnoxiously.
'' I agree, dear brother, it certainly looks way cooler with the scar running 'smack dag' ov...''
'' Do NOT bring up that subject of discussion again, Ruff and Tuff!'' I exclaimed loudly, cutting Ruffnut short before she could finish her sentence.
Just before the volume was turned loud again, which effectively cut our conversation short.

'' So... that's why we never had the same religious education as everyone else in our class or why dad foregone his previous religion. That 'Mark of Odin' you carry, and the fact that you are here is proof that Norse -gods exist somewhere and could touch through time or dimensions,'' Sonja finally spoke in a hushed tone of voice.
''That's why you became a believer of 'Norse- gods', daddy?'' she then added.
Klaus gave a nod.
'' Yes, while my parents weren't happy that I became a believer of what they still saw as 'Pagan gods', once I became a legal adult and could make decisions on my own accord I resigned from our Christian church it, at last, became real to them. I had changed my religion, and they just had to accept my choices in life! I did it mostly for myself but also, as Sigrun and I became closer, I felt that I couldn't marry her if we still held onto to different religions.''
'' So, all that you told Sonja and me, is the explanation as to why we have never met your father or mother?! What were they like? Do you have any siblings?'' Ronja asked, frowning slightly as she looked down at the weapons lying on the floor.
'' Unfortunately, I never met my mother as she had died in childbirth. My brother barely knew her at all. She was from a Viking Village at odds with our own, and so her 'House' was questionable at best. Her marriage to our father was arranged as a sort of peace-treaty between our Islands. But despite the arrangements, Stryka, my mother, was never fully welcomed by the people of Berk. And I wasn't born on Berk's soil. My father came to the other Island to retrieve me after I was born.''
Sigrun sighed quietly before saying,'' I don't even know her full name; neither did my brother. My father was the one to raise my older brother and me. ''
Ronja and Sonja both gasped loudly at the revelation.
'' What was your father like?'' they asked at the same time.
'' Our father, Trygwe, was a righteous man, but he was also determined to make his children strong and unbreakable Vikings. Hard work and huge expectations were put on our shoulders since early childhood because we were the son and daughter of a Village chief.''
Ronja and Sonja inhaled sharply and looked down at the wooden chest again.
The few beautifully dyed clothing could be seen standing starkly against the white linen tunics. Now that it had been said out loud, it was for sure that their mother had been of a prestigious family line. Only rich Vikings would be able to dye their clothes to look like that, and the shieldmaiden clothes in the trunk spoke of wealth as clearly as the brightly coloured linens!
Klaus could only shrug at the information (he had known the truth for years).
''My father was also adamant about control and expected great things from his children,'' Sigrun sighed out, to which Klaus uttered a small snort.
'' Which lead to her adopted family wanting to vetoed out some beliefs they felt would cause trouble in the future if she were to marry someone. I mean, how can banging your head against a rock help a child with anything other than give you a painful concussion?''
...
Hiccup and I chuckled a bit nervously on my father's lap whilst the other teens and most Vikings had no qualms about laughing out loud.
Uncle Stoick didn't seem to know how to react to the words spoken on screen, other than to blink.
My poor dad looked utterly embarrassed as he sat rigidly in his seat.
...
'' And how can any normal human move mountains and tame seas, literally; figuratively yes, by doing great deeds that benefit everyone, but if your father meant it literally, such expectations could never be fulfilled.''
...
Stoick uttered a small splutter at my father's words and my dad sunk even deeper into his chair, his cheeks flaming red.
...
Sigrun shot her husband a somewhat exasperated expression.
'' Anyway, my father was a righteous man, but he also had this goal to turn his children into strong Vikings. Every role and 'belief' he put on us was soaked in by my brother, Stoick the Vast. He became a righteous young man and future ruler of our people, but because of some of those expectations, he was determined to live up to them.''
Stryka smiled at some unmentioned memory.
'' Stoick was a large boy growing up and I was the younger child with nine years between us. I looked up to him during the time of my growth. I could always talk to him when I needed to talk to a family member; he was so supportive of me, but also extremely protective of me.''
Stryka uttered a rueful chuckle before continuing,'' Which in some cases was a good thing, as Stoick was only ten years old when he had apparently popped a Deadly Nadder's head clean off its shoulders when it had been too focused on his baby sister.''
'' That was you as a baby?! Wow, so our uncle had been younger than Sonja and I when he killed his first dragon?!'' Ronja exclaimed, eyes wide with awe.
...
I winced sharply at my younger self's words, and I could see Hiccup doing the same from the corner of my eye.
''Back then I'd been in awe of someone actually been able to kill a dragon. Oh, how things had changed,'' I thought as Anca uttered a whine and licked my cheek, again (Toothless did the same to Hiccup).
No doubt they could sense our mood that was filled with upset and guilt, again.
***MS***
'' Yes, he was quite young, but he loved me, and I was his personal shadow even as a baby. I looked up to him and he protected me from harm. He was a loving older brother, albeit at times his temper and stubbornness got the best of him.''
More silence fell between the members of the family.
But only for a moment...
'' Was it difficult for you get used to the new world that must have been so different from the life you lived on Berk?'' Sonja asked less enthusiastically, and with worry in her tone of voice.
'' It was quite difficult to get used to a world where intellectual attributes and studying are more important than physical attributes. In most cases, that is. But, I had an adopted family who helped me get through a difficult phase of my life. But yes, it did take quite some time to weed out all my less than satisfactory mannerisms instilled in me by my dear ol' dad.''
'' My adopted parents made it quite clear to me that I would get in trouble with the law in this new world if I didn't change some of my behaviours,'' Stryka finished with a slight laugh.
...
I uttered a sad sigh at those words.
How true it was that on Berk my previous, rather bad manners had been looked upon as virtue rather than a hindrance.
On Berk, I had to become hardened, more stubborn and even a bit ruthless (devious, even) so that I'd be able to cope with their ways of life.
I looked up with a smile when my uncle suddenly moved to pick up his son from my dad's lap and pulled him into his arms before sitting down on the seat close to us.
It seemed my uncle had gotten needy for contact with his own son.
'' Oh, how he had changed following the life-changing events on 'Helheim's Gate' only a few months ago!'' I thought fondly.'
...
'' I still think about my dad, and my older brother each and every day. And I miss them, Sonja. I really miss them.''
...
'' I really, really missed you, too, dad, and I thought of you every day,'' I muttered to my own father, sighing when he gently stroked my back.
'' I missed you too, my precious little girl,'' dad answered as he hugged me close.
'' I love you, dad,'' I murmured and nuzzled his neck with my cheek for a moment before twisting around in his lap just time to see the screen come to life, once again.
***MS***
Sigrun reached into the chest and lifted a painted shield from the wooden chest and showed it to the twins.
The painting was of a fourteen-year-old girl standing beside an older, young man (with the same shaded, shaggy red hair as the girl).
Both were grinning wildly and the young man was holding a muscled arm around the girl's shoulders. And the girl was holding a massive battle-axe that must have belonged to the auburn-haired youth.
'' This is me when I'd just turned fourteen and the man standing beside me is your uncle, Stoick the Vast,'' Stryka said with a fond smile.
Sonja chuckled before saying,'' He already has a small beard, mom.''
'' And you have the exact same hair colour,'' Ronja pointed out with a smirk.
Sigrun smirked slightly at her oldest daughter's words before saying,'' Yes, yes we did have the same hair colour, Ronja.''
***EMS***
''Hahahahaha! I remember that day well. That battle axe was a heavy one and Sigrun could barely hold it up, but she was tenacious,'' Stoick chuckled out from his seat.
He then turned to look at me with a smile,'' When I look at my sister, and you, I can see that your hair is like a mixed shade of your father's very blond hair and my sister's red hair. And your eyes, their definitely a myriad of shades. I can even see a very thin ring of dark blue surrounding your irises.''
I smiled, blushing ever so slightly.
'' Yes, back in my father's world that kind of hair colour is called strawberry blond. And yes, Sonja had eye colour more similar to our mother's green eyes.''
'' Yes, they really are greener than yours,'' Snotlout broke in, peering closely at the frozen images of the twins.''
'' But I like your eyes more, Ronja.''
I almost spluttered at those words and turned to the teenager who had turned his face in my directions, blushing now, but still looking at me determinately.
The other teens laughed at Snotlout's sudden outburst, but I found myself giving him a genuine grin.
This wasn't the first time he had told me he liked my eyes. He had said it before back on that cliff overlooking the ocean that day we were to all gather in the Great Hall to wait out Devastating Winter.
'' I like yours, too, Snotlout,'' I answered, making a conscious decision to slither down from my father's lap and approach him.
Snotlout gently ran a hand over my shoulder as I crouched down beside him.
There were more splutters from the other teens.
'' Beard of Thor, this will become interesting,'' and I could hear my uncle mutter from his seat as my father abruptly stood up and came to stand in front of Snotlout and me.
'' Hmmm... Ronja, care to enlighten me, are you interested in this boy, Snotlout?'' my father suddenly asked in a serious tone of voice.
I sighed, rolling my eyes up towards the ceiling. Overprotective fathers were all I needed at this very moment.
'' Dad, please, we are just getting to know each other better, but yes, I do have feelings for Snotlout.''
'' And I do have feelings for Ronja!'' Snotlout cut in bravely, but I could see his slightly worried countenance as my dad continued to eye us both with a now slightly sharp expression.
'' And how long has this been going on, you two?''
'' A few weeks after I woke up following me being wounded, which is about two months ago. But we haven't been able to talk about anything privately at all these past two weeks because Devastating Winter arrived on Berk, and we've been practically cooped in the Great Hall with every other 'Berkian'. And Anca was very professional in keeping us in check earlier last month, albeit we haven't tried anything more than just a few innocent kisses.''
''HAH, HAH, HAH!''
The other teens had all broken into startled laughter at my admission. And their laughter was mingled by the sound I'd now heard thrice in two days.
The familiar squeal of delight from Snotlout's mother.
My expression radiated sheepishness as Snotlout and I shared glances. I honestly hoped he wouldn't be angry at me for having blabbed all that out to my father and the rest of the people of Berk.
But instead of a scowl, there was a grin on his lips and a twinkle in his sky-blue eyes as he eyed me in return.
'' HAHAHA! Well, I said it yesterday and I'll say it again if this union between Ronja and Snotlout blossoms further we will be looking at a marriage union between a 'Haddock' and a 'Jorgenson'! And those two family lines are one of the more notorious in the 'clashing of opinions', '' Gobber blurted out between laughter.
'' Will you STOW IT, Gobber?!'' Stoick exclaimed, twisting in his seat to glare at the one-legged and armed blacksmith.
My father uttered an exasperated groan and rubbed a hand over his face and beard.'' How could I have missed the implication that my daughter and young Snotlout appear to have towards each other?'' my father muttered quietly.
'' Gobber, was it?! Until it's for certain we will even be able to stay on Berk I must insist on the fact that I don't want any claims put on my daughter as of yet; despite the fact that Snotlout and her seem to genuinely like each other. AND to set the facts straight, Ronja carries MY family name, which is 'AHO', '' he then added.
'' Beard of Thor! If things keep bouncing back to the subject of marriage like this, I'm gonna go mad before I even reach the proper age!'' I exclaimed to Snotlout, face-palming in frustration.
'' Never mind going mad, if this screen is really gonna show important moments of our lives, it's gonna be a wonder if I even survive the moment my father witnesses what happened between us in those woods a week before your first 'Thawfest festival', '' Snotlout whispered in my ear.
I paled slightly before whispering,'' is Spitelout gonna freak out about it?''
'' Definitely, he might even come at me for having shown weakness,'' Snotlout muttered dully.
I found myself letting forth a slew of Finnish curses before jumping to my feet, and pulled Snotlout up with me.
'' Not only that, but my dear ol' dad will surely freak out over seeing those few whipping marks on your back. He is a firm believer in the thought of physically abusing being harmful to a child's mentality,'' I grunted as I pulled the dark-haired boy with me as I headed towards the stairs of the Cinema- tier.
We quickly went down the stairs two at a time and made for the shadowy wall behind the stairs. Now that there was a place that was rather dark room and several areas to hide for a private talk, I wasn't going to miss out on that opportunity.
'' You know my father has only done it a few times in the past,'' Snotlout murmured.
'' Doesn't change the fact that its happened 'Lout'! It shouldn't happen at all, in fact! '' I sighed inwardly, frowning down at his left bracer that hid marks of self-harm at times when the boy had been feeling his lowest.
''And I expect that the subject of you causing yourself harm will be a subject that will cause quite a scene,'' I continued, running a hand lightly over the said arm.
'' You think the others might mistake these marks as something I might've received from falling over and hitting something sharp?'' Snotlout asked with a slight wince, catching on to what I was looking down at.
'' Maybe, if the conversation about what your father had done to you is mercifully cut off from the screen. You know, the conversation which happened a day later.''
Snotlout nodded, looking down at the ground at his feet.
'' You really should talk to your mother about what your father did to you as punishment. As well as these,'' I told him in a soft voice, stroking his arm again.
'' Maybe, but some people find it hard to go talk to a person about it. Sure, it's horrible to you that I'm one of those Vikings. And I'm not saying what I'm doing isn't wrong. My father is one of those people who grew up in a household where no one really talked about their problems. I-it was reflected onto me and at some point, I just picked up the mentality that you just don't want to talk about it to someone face to face. Therefore I just, can't mention it to my mother. ''
'' But it does help to vent even though it may be hard for you. Next time you feel like making yourself hurt, I don't care what the heck is happening, or what time it is, just come to find me and vent 'the Helheim' out of my ears if it makes you feel at least a bit better! You saw what venting did to me last night on Berk! It does help.''
I then reached over to pull him into a tight hug that Snotlout immediately returned.
'' But what will I do if... you're not here?'' he asked, pressing his cheek against my long hair.
'' Talk to your mother,'' I prompted him, stroking his dark hair.
'' She would just freak out! Mom doesn't really take too well to how my father treats me sometimes, even when he isn't physically punishing me, and she probably doesn't know it has happened in the past,'' Snotlout answered with a nervous laugh.
I echoed that with a sarcastic one of my own.
'' Well that's terrific! If my dad and I do become permanent residents of Berk, and if the pair of us do end up becoming a married couple, there's gonna be huge clashes amongst our consecutive family members over the subject of how one should raise their children,'' I chuckled out a bit darkly.
'' I just hope my father doesn't end up 'killing' your father in the 'throws' of differing views over matters,'' Snotlout said after a moment of more chuckles.
He looked a bit more worried, though, and I bit my lip, grimacing.
'' Back when they were younger, my dad was insistent that my mom trained him in weapons; and he has got some military training under his belt as well. But dad didn't start training until he was fourteen, almost fifteen years old,'' I muttered thoughtfully.
'' Urgh... well, judging from that fact, I just can't see him measuring up to my father's experience; let alone strength. Please don't take offence but in a straight out fight, your father would lose to him, badly,'' Snotlout muttered, staring down at his feet.
'' (Sigh)... well, I do acknowledge the truth that my dad wasn't brought up like the warriors in your tribe,'' I answered, putting my palm to Snotlout's chin and lifting his head up to look into my eyes.
'' You know, I really... don't want to leave Berk. I was happy back in the house I used to call home where I lived with my father. And I was happy at my grandparents' home. But during these past fifteen months, I've come to see that I may belong with the Vikings more than the world I used to know. Everything is simpler on Berk, despite life being extremely dangerous sometimes,'' I admitted with a murmur, hiding my face into his shoulder.
'' I don't want you.. to go, either. But I do respect your decision to follow your father. You two have such a close bond; something I'm a little jealous of, to be honest, but I don't begrudge it, either. And I... I'd miss you so much, Ronja.''
I hugged him tighter, rubbed a hand through his dark hair again and closed my eyes and blinking back tears from the corners of my eyes.
Seeing and hearing my mother and sister on the screen had already made me feel absolutely wretched, and what was adding to the misery was the thought of leaving Snotlout, Hiccup and the other teens behind upon returning back to my old life.
'' I don't want you to go, Ronja. I... I love you,'' Snotlout admitted, his voice so quiet I could barely hear him.
All I could do was attempt to tighten my grip around him, and in a moment of bravery, I reached over to give him a kiss on the forehead.
Snotlout pulled away a fraction and repeated the gesture to me.
'' Well, well, well! Ain't this an interesting scene! Snotlout, Ronja, if you two don't mind.''
Snotlout and I jumped apart with squawks of surprise and shock; we whirled around to look in the direction the voice had come from and immediately groaned.
Hiccup, Astrid, Fishlegs and the twins were all there, looking at us.
Hiccup, Astrid and the twins were smirking whilst Fishlegs looked slightly nervous.
'' Tell me you two didn't come here to...,'' Fishlegs stuttered out, but Snotlout and I were quick to shut him off.
'' We definitely did NOT come here to make-off, Fishlegs!'' Snotlout bluntly growled out.
I slapped a hand over my eyes at Snotlout's blunt reply when the Twins started cackling wildly.
'' We were just talking!'' I added firmly.
''And hugging! How cute of you two.'' Astrid pointed out with a laugh.
'' DON'T call us cute, Astrid! And what in the name of Thor are you all doing here?''Snotlout gritted out.
'' My father, uncle Klaus, uncle Spitelout and aunt Haldis want the pair of you to come back to where they can see you,'' Hiccup broke in, looking far too amused. (*1)
'' They probably want to keep an eye on you two so that you won't do anything inappropriate,'' Ruffnut added with a cackle.
'' RUFFNUT!'' Snotlout exclaimed, looking aghast.
'' Seriously, guys, we weren't doing anything improper. All we did was talk, privately, which was something sorely lacking back at the Great Hall,'' I retorted, looking rather annoyed.
'' Call me crazy, but I think that's exactly what the grownups were worried about; the 'talking in private' part,'' Astrid snickered out which set the twins off again, too.
'' You are ALL crazy!'' Snotlout immediately retorted with a growl, glaring at the other teens.
'' What part of the words ' just talking' don't you understand?'' I asked, left eye twitching.
Before any more words could be exchanged between us, we all heard uncle Stoick bellow...
'' Ronja, Snotlout, you better COME back up here this INSTANT!''
'' And there's my father calling you back,'' Hiccup pointed out with a chuckle even as I rolled my eyes up towards the ceiling.
'' Indeed, and so as you know, your parents have given us all the job of chaperoning the pair of you, so let's head back,'' Astrid said and grabbed my arm tightly.
She started pulling me back towards the stairs and up the steps, and the Twins did the same to Snotlout who immediately grumbled in protest over becoming boxed in between Ruffnut and Tuffnut.
Hiccup and Fishlegs followed at the very back, the smaller boy stifling his chuckles and even Fishlegs was starting to grin at the somewhat humorous situation.
Of course, Snotlout heard his cousin's stifled laughter...
'' There'll be consequences, Hiccup! You mark my words; when you get a girlfriend, I'll be there to make fun of you!'' he growled.
I grinned amusedly when for just a moment, Astrid's expression morphed into a deep grimace.
When our Dragon-Riding gang, at last, reached the top of the stairs we found my father, uncle Stoick, Spitelout and Mrs Jorgenson standing before us with their hands on their hips.
Albeit Snotlout's mother was smiling and shaking her head in amusement for us having stolen away for some private time.
The others, though, not so much.
'' Ronja, minä kyllä ymmärrän että olet sen ikäinen, jossa että ihastumiset ovat täysin luonnollista. Mutta tässä tapauksessa en katso hyvällä tuollaisia katoamistemppuja pojan kanssa. En nyt, kun tulevaisuutemme on niin avoinna (Ronja, I understand that your at an age where crushes are entirely natural, but in this case I don't look open-mindedly at disappearances with a boy. Not now, when our future is so open),'' my dad sighed as Astrid lead me straight over to him.
'' Milloin te sitten olitte valmiit seurusteluun ja myöhemmin avioon, jos äiti oli samassa tilanteessa ( when were you ready to court and marry later on, if mother was in the same situation)?'' I burst out rather loudly, eyes flashing with an unexpected upset.
Astrid backed away from the situation the second she heard me raise my voice. She, along with everyone else in the theatre looked like they were listening on, with wide eyes at the odd lingo, or language in more appropriate terms.
My father and I had both spoken in Finnish so that we would be able to conserve a private conversation between family.
'' Ronja, Sigrun:in ja minun avioliitto ei tapahtunut hetken mielijohteesta. Jouduimme odottamaan vuosia kunnes tunsimme olevamme turvassa aloittaa seurustelun ja avioliiton (Ronja, the marriage between Sigrun and I didn't happen in the impulse of a moment. We had to wait for years before we felt safe to enter courtship and marriage),'' my father answered, giving me a quelling look.
I looked down at my feet, my face morphing into a thoughtful frown.
It was rather saddening but true that I'd become so used to living on my own for months on end, that I had begun to forget what it was like to have one's own parent around to tell me what I could do and when I could do something.
Hence the upset over my father for putting restrictions on how I should deal with boys. But the reasonable side of me did understand why my father didn't want me 'to jump headfirst' into a relationship.
''Isä, en oikeasti haluaisi palata takaisin vanhaan elämääni. Rakastan isovanhempiani, ja sinua, mutta minulla on ystäviä täällä. Ja tunnen sellaista rentoutta elämään mitä en kokenut Suomessa. Totta, elämä Berk:ssä oli kovaa, mutta silti paljon selkeämpää kuin mitä koin vanhassa elämässäni. Tunnen kuuluvani äitini vanhaan maailmaan (dad, I honestly don't want to go back to my old life. I love my grandparents, and you, but I have friends here. And I feel the kind of relaxation to life that I didn't feel in Finland. True, life on Berk was hard, but still so much clearer than what I felt back in my old life. I feel like I belong to my mother's old world),'' I admitted, sighing softly.
My father immediately pulled me into a tight hug, lifting me off my feet.
''A- anteeksi, isä, tuo kuulosti itsekkäältä (i- i'm sorry, dad, that sounded selfish),'' I moaned out.
'' Totta, hitusen kyllä kun ajattelet kuinka paljon Suomessa asuva perheesi sinua rakastaa. Mutta toisaalta ymmärrän miten paljon ystävien menetys sinua sattuisi. Silti, meidän on vain hyväksyttava sen mitä Odin meille suo'' (true, a bit when you think about how much the family back in Finland, loves you. But at the same time, I do understand how much it would hurt to lose your friends. Still, I also know we need to accept what Odin gives us).''
'' Isä, jos saisimme mahdollisuuden valita, suostuisitko jättämään nyky aikakauden jotta voisit asua Berk:ssä minun kanssani (dad, if we were given the option to choose, would you accept leaving the present time so you could live on Berk with me)?'' I asked, voice soft and slightly wavering against his neck.
My father sighed, his grip tightening ever so slightly around my waist.
'' Tässä vaiheessa en oikeasti osaisi valita, Ronja (at this stage, I honestly wouldn't be able to choose),'' dad answered, voice equally as soft.
'' Ymmärrän, isä (I understand, dad),'' I sighed as father backed towards the discarded seat behind him and sat down with me in his arms.
There was absolute silence...
No one in the Cinema- theatre tried asking what we had discussed as a family just then. Everyone was thankfully giving us space and privacy from any questions.
Stoick dropped heavily down on the same seat he had vacated earlier, and Spitelout and his wife sat down on chairs only a seat- length away from ours.
Snotlout seated himself on the floor near my father's feet, and the other teens joined the stout boy in a half circle near my father and me.
And all our dragons, the two Monstrous Nightmares, a Nightfury, Deadly Nadder, Gronckle and Zippleback were quick to squeeze into this one, rather tight area.
WHACKKK
'' ARGHHH! Can't these fire-breathing reptiles find any OTHER place to gather?!'' Spitelout exclaimed loudly as Hookfang's long red tail came into contact with the side of his head as the large dragon squeezed himself into the circle.
Most of us burst out laughing at Spitelout's griping...
Before the screen came back to life again...
***MS***
'' But HOW did you find yourself in a new world, mom?'' Sonja asked in a more subdued tone (despite the soft smile on her lips).
'' I was out early in the woods hunting rabbits when I was suddenly dealing with a supernatural occurrence, a glowing light that surrounded me in a sphere of light.
Sigrun sighed and turned her eyes to the windows. With the lights bouncing against the glass she could clearly see the gentle snowfall outside. As the afternoon had worn on, darkness had begun to creep into the sky.
'' One second I was in that sphere of light, and the next I found myself sprawled on the floor of an unfamiliar house. I was scared and confused; something a Viking should rise against in any situation. But back then I'd been close to tears, especially when I'd somehow found myself understanding, and speaking an entirely new language I'd never heard in my life. Those people were your second cousin's father, and his parents, who selflessly took me into their household.
Sigrun paused for a moment to share a smile with her husband who kissed her on the cheek.
'I shall forever remain grateful for their support and their help in getting me used to the kind of life they experienced daily. I don't know how, and why Odin had brought me there. But it turned out I was safe in the world with a new identity, and with a recorded Legal Form that told I was a citizen of the country and adopted into the 'Lohikko family'. Therefore I hadn't been in jeopardy of being kicked out of the land.''
'' But why would Odin do such a thing, rip you away from the world that was your home for so many years? Why would he take you away from your family?'' Ronja asked in a shocked tone.
'' I do not know what purpose Odin had in mind when he brought me here, But I assure you, Ronja, Sonja, that I do not regret the momentous turn in my life when I met your father. Neither do I do not regret having two precious little baby girls.''
There was silence as the Twins tried to digest all the information given to them by their parents.
'' Ronja, I need you to listen to me closely, now. I was my brother's personal shadow growing up. I looked up to him. He protected me from harm and he was a loving older brother; albeit at times his temper and stubbornness got the best of him.''
Sigrun was looking at her daughter with a serious look in her eyes, and Ronja stayed quiet, waiting for her to finish.
'' Earlier this year you'd allowed your temper and your pride to take over, but lately, you have been striving to amend the sibling bonds you had broken. I hope that from now on you will protect your little sister, and be willing to listen to her whenever her council is important. You are the older twin, Ronja, therefore you have to be responsible, and not cause any more of these... rivalries that have been going on this year.''
Ronja sat proudly with her back straight, but with a solemn expression as her mother reached over to take the helmet from her lap and set it down on her daughter's head.
Clonkkk
Ronja and Sonja both burst out laughing as the helmet flopped over the older twin's eyes a second time.
Stryka and Klaus chuckled warmly, and Sigrun reached over to lift the metal helmet up so she could peer into her daughter's bright, determined eyes.
'' I shall do it mother, father! I promise that from now on I'll be the trustworthy and dependable older sister you all want me to be.''
'' Thank's, Ronja!'' Sonja giggled out at her sister's formal words; before she suddenly pounced forward to hug her sister tightly around the waist.
CLANGGG
Stryka and Klaus laughed loudly and merrily when the too large Viking helmet hit the wooden floor for the third time that evening.

Next chapter should be up next weekend. You will finally get to read what sort of accident had Ronja lose to members of her family.
But its funny really, that when I wrote a certain part of the story I had no idea how similar a certain incident I'd come up with in my story, was to what I'd seen in' How To Train Your Dragon 2 movie' (being vague); until I'd stopped to think about it. Of course, I just had to add my thoughts into the chapter itself.
