Cynthia's POV

Stoic brought us to an empty room, and tossed us in. He shut the door, but it slid back open a crack.

"I should've known." He mumbled.

"Dad, I-" hiccup started to say.

"I should've seen the signs." Stoic interrupted him.

"we had a deal!" He yelled.

"I know we did, but that was before - oh it's all so messed up." Hiccup ran a hand through his hair.

"So everything in the ring? A trick? A lie?" Stoic asked, looking away.

"We screwed up. We should've told you before now, we just...take this out on us. Be mad at us, but please, just don't hurt toothless!" Hiccup pleaded.

"Or skymist." I piped up.

"The dragons? That's what you two are worried about? Not the people you almost killed?" Stoic asked.

"They were just protecting us! They're not dangerous!" Hiccup told him.

"Look at what they did to your hand Cynthia!" Stoic yelled, pointing to my hand.

I looked down at it, then back at him.

"That was not toothless or skymist who did this! The one that did this, is the one we would've had tamed if you hadn't lost your temper!" I said.

"They've killed hundred of us!" Stoic yelled at me.

"And we've killed thousands of them!" Hiccup wasted no time yelling back as he stood in front of me.

"They defend themselves that's all!" I added.

Stoic just shook his head, waving us off, and began to pace back and fourth in rage.

"They raid us because they have to! If they don't bring enough food back, they'll be eaten themselves." Hiccup explained to stoic.

I looked at hiccup curiously, where was this going?

"There's something else on their island dad. It's a dragon like I've never seen!" Hiccup said.

My eyes widened, and I took a few steps away from hiccup. Stoic looked at hiccup with a now interested face.

"Their island? So you've been to the nest." He muttered.

"Did I say nest?" Hiccup asked, his voice now quiet.

"How did you find it?" Stoic asked.

"I didn't! Toothless did! Only a dragon can find the island!" Hiccup yelled.

My eyes widened more, and I looked at stoic nervously. He looked away, a determined look in his eyes. He looked at me.

"Did you know about this?" He asked me.

I shook my head, eyes narrowed, "no. He must've found it when he was with Astrid." I said, glaring at hiccup.

Hiccup looked at me with a confused look until stoic started walking towards the door.

"No no no dad. No please. It's not what you think. You don't know what your up against. It's like nothing you've ever seen!" Hiccup tried to stop him, "I promise you, you can't win this one!"

Stoic didn't listen, and continued walking.

"Dad." Hiccup whispered, "no."

Still no answer.

Hiccup ran and latched on to his arm, "for once in your life will you please just listen to me?!"

Stoic tossed hiccup off his arm, sending hiccup to the floor. Hiccup and I both looked at him with a shocked expression.

"You throw your lot in with them, then your not a Viking. Your not my son." He muttered.

Hiccup let out a few shaky breaths, and stoic turned to me.

"And you. Your parents would be so disappointed in you if they saw you today." He said, and walked out.

My eyes widened, and I stared at the door.

"Ready the ships!" Stoic called from outside.

I didn't move from my spot, but I felt tears weld in my eyes.

"Cynthia...I-" hiccup started.

I cut him off, and wordlessly walked outside, leaving hiccup alone. I walked to the cove, and sat on the rock where I was sitting when toothless and skymist drew the lines around hiccup and I.

I sighed, and hid my face in my hands.

Hiccup POV

I walked to the lookout bridge. I saw the ships loading toothless and skymist on deck, and I stared at them sadly.

Dad saw me, glared at me, and walked away. He whispered something to the dragons, and they sailed away.

I stood there till the boats were out of sight, and sighed when the last boat disappeared.

"It's a mess." I heard Astrid say.

I looked to see her standing beside me. I looked back down right after.

"You must feel horrible. You lost everything. Your father, your tribe, your best friend." She said.

"You forgot Cynthia, but thanks for pretty much summing that up." I said.

"Cynthia?" Astrid asked.

"She doesn't seem to happy with me. She barely said 5 words to me when I talked to her this morning." I said.

"Oh." She mumbled.

"Why couldn't I have killed that dragon when I found him in the woods? Would it have been better for everyone?" I asked.

"Yep. The rest of us would've done It. So why didn't you?" She asked.

I didn't answer, only looked down.

"Why didn't you?" She repeated.

"I don't know. I couldn't." I said, turning my head away.

"That's not an answer." She said.

"Why is this so important to you all of a sudden?" I asked, a little annoyed now.

"Because I want to remember what you say, right now." She said.

"Oh for the love of," I turned back to her, "I was a coward, I was weak. I wouldn't kill a dragon."

"You said wouldn't that time." She smirked.

"Whatever I wouldn't! Three hundred years, and I'm the first Viking who wouldn't kill a dragon!" I yelled.

She looked taken back, and I sighed, turning away.

"First to ride one though." She said.

I looked up. My eyes wide.

"So..." She said, leading me to answer.

"I wouldn't kill him because he looked as frightened as I was. I looked at him, and I saw myself. Cynthia knew that the dragons needed each other, so we didn't kill them." I explained.

There was a moment of silence, and then she smiled at me.

"I've seen the way she looks at you hiccup." She said.

"What?" I asked.

"She looks at you the same way you look at her." She continued.

"What are you talking about?" I asked.

"You like her hiccup." She said.

My eyes widened, "what?"

"Don't deny it hiccup. You like her, and she likes you. That's why she's mad. She thinks you like me." She explained.

I stayed quiet, and looked down.

"So, what are you gonna do about it?" She asked.

"Eh. Probably something stupid." I told her.

"Good. But you've already done that." She smiled.

I grinned, "then something crazy."

"That's more like it." I heard her say as I ran off.

Cynthia's POV

I was still sitting in the cove, drawing on the ground with a stick. I felt tears weld in my eyes as I drew.

"Skymist." I mumbled, wishing she was here.

"Cynthia?" I heard a familiar voice ask.

I sighed, placing the stick on the ground.

"Cynthia, I didn't mean for any of this to-" he started.

"You don't have to apologize hiccup," I interrupted him, "he was right."

"What?" He asked.

I saw a figure come stand in front of me, and sit down. I looked into his eyes.

"They would be disappointed. Even though I was five, I knew they wanted a tough daughter, who could kill a dragon." I said, "they got me instead."

He grabbed my hands, "that's not a bad thing. I wouldn't want you to be anyone else then the person you are today."

"Why? You deserve a tough friend. A friend who can live up to her name. Not me." I told him.

"Cynthia, you are tough, you do live up to your name. I don't want anyone else as a friend. Your more then enough for me." He said.

"No I'm not. You deserve someone like Astrid." I told him, still not believing he was telling the truth.

He smiled slightly, and leaned in closer.

"Astrid is fine for a friend. But I want you as more then a friend." He said, before connecting our lips.

My eyes shot open, and he pulled away a second after. He looked at me, and smiled slightly.

"I know why your mad, and you have no reason to be. Astrid and I are friends, but I have no real feeling for her. I found out that I love you. Not her." He told me.

I sat there, not sure what to say.

"I'm sorry Cynthia. Please forgive me." He pleaded.

I looked at him, and smiled. He smiled back.

"Ok. I forgive you." I said, before kissing him again.

He didn't hesitate to kiss back, and I pulled away after a minute.

"Let's go get our dragons." He said.

We got up, and headed back towards the arena.

Ok guys! There it is.

I really wanted that moment to be more romantic than that, but that's the best I could do.

Tell me the truth, was that an ok moment to get together as a couple? I mean, It was a little....what's the word?...boring I guess.

Anyway, I hoped you guys liked this chapter. See you soon on the next one!
