General POV

"Either we finish them, or they finish us!" Stoic's loud voice boomed, "it's the only way we'll be rid of them!"

There was a meeting going on, and stoic was trying to convince everyone to go on a final search.

"If we find the nest and destroy it, the dragons will leave. They'll find another home!" He explained, stabbing the map with a knife.

"One more search, before the ice sets in." He said.

"Those ships never come back." A Viking argued.

Stoic frowned, "we are Vikings, it's an occupational hazard. Now who's with me?"

Everyone was quiet, and stoic smirked.

"Fine, anyone who stays will look after Cynthia and hiccup." He threatened.

Hands shot up instantly, and stoic smile proudly.

"Yeah, that's what I thought." He said.

Everybody made there way out, and gobber sighed.

"Alright, I'll pack my undies." said, getting up.

"No gobber. You need to stay here, and train the recruits." Stoic told him.

At that moment, Cynthia walked in, unnoticed by the two Viking men.

"Oh and while I'm gone hiccup and Cynthia will hold up the shop." Gobber said.

Cynthia stopped walking, and hid behind a wall. She had already heard her name. She couldn't leave now.

"Nothing to do, lots of tools, time to themselves, what could possibly go wrong?" Gobber asked sarcastically.

"You know how how they are Gobber. Ever since they could crawl they've been...different." Stoic said.

"Cynthia wasn't always you know." Gobber reminded him.

"Yes, but after her parents died, and she became friends with hiccup. He got her interested in all those silly stories, like trolls, and Jack Frost. Thats where she went wrong. At least she had a chance." Stoic muttered.

Cynthia was offended on so many levels.

"Trolls exist. They steal your socks. But only the left ones." Gobber defended them.

"When I was a boy, my father told me to hit my head against a rock. I thought he was crazy, but I didn't question him. And you know what happened?" Stoic asked him.

"Go ahead." Gobber said, not very interested in the conversation.

"That rock split in two. It showed me what a Viking can do Gobber. He can calm mountain lions, tame seas. Hiccup is not that boy." Stoic finished.

Cynthia looked down, uneasiness settling in her stomach. Sure Hiccup was a bit of a...well....hiccup, but she wasn't sure of what his father was implying.

"Oh what am I going to do with them Gobber?" Stoic sighed, sitting down next to him.

"Put them in training with the others." Gobber muttered.

"Im serious." Stoic said.

"So am I."

"they'd be killed before you let the first dragon out of its cage." Stoic argued.

"Now you don't know that." Gobber said, turning back to his drink.

"Yes I do." Stoic told him.

"No you don't!" Gobber said, sounding annoyed.

"The truth is, your not always gonna be around to protect them. They're going to get out there again. They're probably out there now." Gobber told him.

Stoic just glared at the wall, knowing he had lost this battle.

Cynthia took that as her cue to leave. She slipped out of the room easily, and let out a breath. She looked back at the door, and sighed.

He was right. They didn't stand a chance if they did dragon training. They didn't stand a chance even if they didn't do dragon training.

They probably would be killed before they let the first dragon out of its cage. Well, she probably would. She didn't know about how far hiccup would advance.

"Cynthia come on!" Hiccups voice interrupted her thoughts.

She looked down the stairs to see hiccup waiting on her. She quickly walked down the stairs, and flashed him a quick small smile, then looked back at the great hall.

"You ok?" He asked.

"Yeah." She said, looking back at him, "why?"

"No reason." Hiccup said slowly.

They started off into the woods to try to find the dragon. Hiccup had drawn a big map of the island in his journal. We walked all over Berk trying to pinpoint where the night fury was.

After a while hiccup started to get angry. He just scribbled out the whole map, and slammed his book shut.

"Hiccup calm down." Cynthia said, shocked at his outburst.

"No, I want to know why the gods hate us." Hiccup told her, placing his journal in his vest.

"What do you mean? The gods don't hate us." She asked, a little amused.

"Some people loose their knife or their mug. No not us. We manage to loose an entire dragon!" Hiccup yelled, slapping a branch away.

It backfired as It came back, and hit him In the face.

"Hiccup!" Cynthia exclaimed, rushing to his aid.

She tried to look at it, but hiccup kept pushing her away.

"I'm ok Cynthia." He chuckled.

"Well, ok, I guess. But you come to me the second it starts to....hurt..." Cynthia trailed off.

Hiccup looked at her, to see her looking down the path.

"Cynthia?" He waved a hand in front of her face, "Cynthia?"

"Hiccup, look." She said, pointing down the path.

He did, and was shocked to see that almost every tree had been knocked over. The ground had been burnt in several places as well.

"Whoa." Hiccup mumbled.

Cynthia beamed, and rushed down the path, stoping at the log that was at the end.

"Hey wait!" Hiccup whispered after her.

He ran to catch up to her, and saw her staring right at the night fury.

Cynthia looked at Hiccup, and smiled.

She leaped right over the log, and walked over to the night fury.

"we did it." She turned to hiccup, who was just now joining her next to the dragon, "hiccup you did it!"

"Oh man, this fixes everything!" He said.

He laughed, and placed his foot on the dragon, "I, hiccup, have brought down this mighty beast-"

The dragon growled and moved its head. Hiccup instantly back away.

"Still alive." He mumbled.

He shakily walked back up to it. He got into a position that he could easily stab the dragon, and kill it.

"I'm gonna kill you dragon. I'm gonna, cut out your heart, and take it to my father." He mumbled, taking a deep breath.

"I'm a Viking." He whispered, "I AM A VIKING!"

He raised the knife, ready to bring it down. He then opened his eyes, and looked at the dragon.

His face softened for a second, before he returned to his former position.

Cynthia's eyes widened just a little. Was he really about to kill an innocent dragon?

She was brought out of her thoughts by hiccup signing.

She looked at him, and saw him taking down his arms. He didn't kill him.

She let out a small sigh of relief, and smiled at him.

Suddenly another dragon landed right next to her. She screamed, and pointed her dagger towards it.

"Cynthia!" Hiccup cried out.

She was expecting pain to come, but no pain came. Only a lot of roaring.

She opened her eyes, to see the dragon that landed next to her cowering in fear.

"What?" She asked.

She looked at her dagger, before jabbing it in the air in the new dragons direction.

The new dragon screeched, and moved out of the way.

She just stood there shocked. The other dragon roared, and tried its best to get to the new dragon.

She looked back and fourth between the new and the other dragon. She noticed they looked almost exactly alike.

She looked into the new dragons, terrified eyes, and saw something she

Had never seen before.

"Are-are you two....related?" She asked.

The new dragon nodded her head, which surprised her even more.

"Hiccup, you have to let that dragon go." She told her friend.

"I know I do." Hiccup mumbled.

He bent down, and started untying the ropes. Once they were all untied, the dragon leapt onto hiccup, pinning him down on the ground.

"Hiccup!" Cynthia yelled, rushing over to him, dropping her dagger.

The other dragon, no longer afraid of her, leapt in front of her, blocking her path.

"Hiccup!" She exclaimed, trying to get around the dragon.

Before she could do anything else, the dragon that was on top of hiccup roared very loudly in his face, and walked over to Cynthia.

His glare softened, and he just shoved her slightly with his wing.

He and the other dragon flew away, leaving hiccup and Cynthia.

Cynthia watched them fly away for a minute, before rushing to hiccup, who was now standing up.

She attacked him in a hug, and let out a breath of relief.

"Thank Odin your ok." She whispered.

"It's ok Cynthia. I'm fine." He pulled away, "are you ok? Are you hurt?"

She shook her head no, "no no, I'm fine. I'm not hurt."

He let out a small breath of relief himself, and smiled at her.

"Come on. Dads probably wondering where I am. Not that he cares." Hiccup said, taking Cynthia's wrist.

He dragged her down the path that lead to his house, ready to face stoic.
