The Dragons

(Y/N)'s P.O.V
I sigh softly, peeking over at Hiccup's notebook. He drags his pencil across the X's, sighing softly before peeking up at the small clearing in front of us.
Nothing.
He sighs, marking another X before aggressively scribbling out the map he created, slamming the book shut as I walk next to him with a wince, marking off my own map.
"Oh, the gods hate me," Hiccup groans as we walk, kicking a rock with a disheartened expression.
"That's not true," I disagree, making him snort.
"Really?" he questions, glancing to me with a flat expression. "Some people lose their knife, or a mug. No, not me." He starts, his voice becoming more irritated at himself. "I manage to lose an entire dragon!"
Hiccup smacks a branch, making me gasp and duck as it flies back, smacking him in the face as he yelps in pain.
"Are you okay?" I quickly question, pulling his hand away from his eye as he hisses in pain.
He looks up at the tree, making me pause and look back before tilting my head at the destroyed tree. We both look at each other as I move out of the way, looking back at the crater that drags in the ground.
"Come on," Hiccup whispers, sliding down and holding his hand out.
I take it, and he helps me down and stables me when I trip.
"Do you think it was...?" I trail off as he closely looks at the crater, shrugging in confusion as we continue.
He slowly peeks over the small mound of dirt before gasping, pulling me down as I yelp.
"Wha--?!"
"Shh!" Hiccup quickly and frantically shushes, gasping softly as he slowly peeks back over.
He quickly grabs his dagger, making me look over the dirt. My eyes widen as I exhale in disbelief, blinking rapidly at the sight.
The Night Fury was on the ground, tied up in the bola Hiccup had launched. But that wasn't all. A few feet away from it wrapped in the other bola was another dragon, one that was unfamiliar. It was bigger than the Night Fury by a small bit, its scales the same black shade as the Night Fury's.
"What... is that?" I question, looking at the other black dragon. "That's... not a Night Fury."
Hiccup gulps as he looks between the two dragons with wide eyes, shaking his head as he clears his throat.
"I-- I, uh, I don't know exactly," he replies, slowly climbing over the dirt and ducking behind a rock.
He motions for me to stay back, making me scoff lightly with a shake of my head as I follow after. Hiccup sighs when he sees me approaching with my own dagger drawn.
Hiccup slowly moves around the rock, me following closely as my hand lightly shakes.
"Oh, wow... I did it," he breathes out suddenly, relaxing.
"Is it...? You know?" I question, slowly approaching the Night Fury.
"I-- I think so! Oh, this fixes everything!" Hiccup laughs in disbelief, gripping at his head.
"You not only got a Night Fury, but... a whatever-this-is," I nod, smiling at the thought of Stoick being proud of Hiccup.
I approach the other dragon, tilting my head at it as I look over the body, gasping softly at the sight of his wounded arm. The slash ran up the side of his left arm, some scales scattered on the ground near it. My eyes trail up to the beautiful gem on his forehead, the stone shimmering brightly in the light before my eyes flick to his back to look at his silver-like wings. His wings were folded, traces of a few feathers scattered around him.
I hear a faint grumble, my eyes darting back up to the dragon's face. Its eyes were still shut, but I noticed that its scales had begun to spike slowly.
"Yes! I have brought down these mighty beasts!" He sets his foot on the Night Fury.
As he says this, I set my hand gently on the arm of the dragon, making it roar. I yelp and scramble backwards, falling back and scooting away. Hiccup was suddenly next to me, panting softly in fear as we both sit on the ground with wide eyes. He holds his knife up, walking towards the Night Fury once more as it pants heavily.
I look up at him before looking at the Night Fury, gasping when I see his bright green eye glaring at us. My gaze moves to the other dragon as it moans, shifting. I catch his (E/C) eye, my heart hammering when I see he was also awake.
My legs shake as I slowly rise to my feet, holding my dagger in my hand as I swallow thickly.

Third Person P.O.V
She slowly approaches the dragon as it growls lowly, shifting as it tries to move. Hiccup watches in concern before focusing on the Night Fury.
He meets his eye, trembling as he takes in a deep breath.
"I'm going to kill you, dragon. I'm gonna... I'm going to cut out your heart and take it to my father."
The dragon in front of (Y/N) perks up at Hiccup's words with a snarl, thrashing against the bola before groaning in pain, slumping to the floor. The Night Fury snorts softly, rumbling something to the other dragon.
(Y/N) watches with a heavy heart as the dragon continues to try to get up before giving up, looking up at her with a soft huff and groan.
"We are Vikings... I am a Viking!" Hiccup yells, the Night Fury groaning in response.
He takes in a deep breath, raising the dagger as the dragon in front of (Y/N) roars and struggles, panting heavily before staring at her with pleading eyes. She looks between Hiccup and the Night Fury, swallowing thickly as she looks back at the dragon with a pained expression.
"Hiccup," (Y/N) whispers, making him peek his eyes open before he looks into the eyes of the Night Fury.
His eyes held fear as he softly pants, Hiccup's eyes widening and his body slumping before he shakes his head, raising the blade once more.
The Night Fury rumbles in defeat, shutting his eyes as he slumps his head down.
The dragon by (Y/N) whines softly, and she watches as a tear seemed to escape his eye, soaking the dirt as it falls.
"Hicc--"
He suddenly stops, groaning and sighing as he rests the knife on his head.
(Y/N) smiles softly, nodding sympathetically as he sadly smiles and nods back before looking between the two dragons. His eyes land on the wound of the other dragon, making him gasp softly and flinch.
"I did this..." Hiccup weakly mumbles, shaking his head as he turns to walk away before pausing.
He looks back at the Night Fury, sighing and looking at (Y/N).
...
Both dragons quickly open their eyes when they feel the ropes loosening.
"This is... a scary idea," (Y/N) nervously laughs, slicing the rope with her knife. "Probably not very smart, either, but..."
Hiccup doesn't reply, biting his lip and looking around as he continues cutting through the rope of the Night Fury. He finishes the last rope, gasping as the Night Fury pounces on him.
"Hiccup!" (Y/N) yells, yanking on the last rope as she starts rushing to him.
She gasps and cries out as the other dragon leaps over her through the air, landing in front of her and blocking her path to the Night Fury and Hiccup with a low hissing snarl.
Hiccup pants as the Night Fury glares at him, the dragon's eyes wild and dangerous as he glares down at Hiccup. The dragon in front of (Y/N) snarls, slowly limping towards her with his tail swishing angrily. Her attention wasn't focused on the dragon in front of her, rather her best friend, who was pinned against the rock and the Night Fury.
"No, no, no," (Y/N) mumbles on repeat and shakes her head, her eyes darting from Hiccup to the dragon in front of her.
She tries running around the dragon, making it roar in warning and run in front of her with a hiss. She tries the other way, skidding to a stop as she was once again blocked by him. The dragon wobbles slightly, raising his wounded leg up as he glares at her. (Y/N) looks up at him, the dragon towering over her with his lip curled up and revealing his sharp, deadly teeth.
The Night Fury looks back at his friend and the girl before facing Hiccup, Hiccup's eyes holding great fear.
"Please... don't," (Y/N) breathes out, staring at the dragon blocking her path as tears form in her eyes, from both fear and desperation.
His eyes widen slightly as he snorts softly, his ears pinning back as he watches her for a few moments. He lets out a low rumble in his throat as he looks back at the Night Fury, barking a short roar.
The Night Fury's ear twitches as he looks back before he rises up, wings opened before he roars loudly at Hiccup, lips curled in a snarl as Hiccup flinches away in fear.
(Y/N) gasps softly as the dragon straightens up, turning and looking at her before snorting and taking off flying. The Night Fury swiftly follows, crashing into a cliffside with a pained roar as the other dragon attempts to help him fly.
Hiccup pants softly, sputtering as he exhales and sets a hand on his heart.
"Hiccup!" (Y/N) gasps, rushing to his side before hugging him tightly, his heart hammering wildly in his chest.
He blinks owlishly, feeling his face heat up as he tentatively wraps his arms around her, hugging her tightly for a moment.
"Are you okay?" She questions softly with concern as she pulls away, helping him stand as he wobbles.
Hiccup shakily laughs in response, watching the two dragons fly together with roars.
"W--We should... we should... yeah..." He stammers slowly turning before passing out as she yells his name.
