Chapter 16

You flew threw the sky with Hiccup and Toothless. After the whole thing settled between you and Toothless, it was actually romantic. You remember the chill from the sharp wind but the warmth of Hiccup's back and the warm feeling inside of you.

You have to admit; it was scary at first when you saw your best friend next to the most fearful beast. Toothless didn't even react negatively towards you. He just jumped at your surprises. He took it rather gently and better than you expected.

Sunset turned into sun down and it was really dark. You remembered that your romantic evening turned horrible when you two discovered the nest. You three managed to escape and landed back in the cove.

You two turned towards each other. You asked, "What are we going to do now?"

~.~.~

"Today is about teamwork," you heard Gobber instruct, "now, the wet dragon head can't light its fire. The Hideous Sippleback is extra tricky. One head breathes gas, the other head lights it. Your job is to tell which is which."

It was another training day in camp and you can't help but to feel on edge. Something was different and you can't but blame yourself. You couldn't see your younger self nor can you feel any pain. You were guessing you weren't around at the time and skipped out on a lesson. You didn't quiet remember where you could've gone. It was starting to become a blurry memory.

Gas flooded the arena as the two-headed dragon escaped their imprisonment. The gas surrounded every student in the arena. Every single one of them looked timid. You could hear Fishlegs mumbling to himself in what you guessed nervousness. The first to move was, of course, Snotlout who was trying to show off followed by Tuffnut. Insults were tossed and Snotlout was knocked out by Astrid.

Nice to know nothing has changed about those two.

The Sippleback has already made its move and took Tuffnut into the foggy gas. Astrid was tripped and Tuffnut ran away. It was up to Fishlegs and Hiccup. One head finally popped out of the fog and Fishlegs quickly drenched it, only for it to be the wrong head. Now, it was up to Hiccup. The second head popped out and Hiccup was standing there with the bucket in hand.

Come on, Hiccup. Time for you to shine.

Hiccup tossed.

Weakly.

You would've slapped your head in frustration if it wasn't for the fact that Hiccup was currently in danger. You raced to the entry to try to save him. You stopped though when you saw what was happening.

The dragons were actually backing away.

You watched with astonishment as the dragons obeyed to Hiccup as he cornered them back into their cell. As they went back in, you saw Hiccup toss something in when he closed the doors.

Is that what I think it is?

You were skeptical. There was no way Hiccup would do something like that, or would he?

~.~.~

"Ah, Ragna! What are you doing here?"

You were already at his workshop standing in the entry with your arms crossed and a hip cocked out. You raised an eyebrow at his sheepish grin. "Really? An eel?"

"Well," Hiccup scratched the back of his head, "I had to take some extra precautions."

You hummed sarcastically, "Or was it to show off?"

Hiccup flinched, "Would you believe me if said it was both?"

You shook your head and uncrossed your arms. "Hiccup, the last thing you want to do is get attention. You don't want them to find out about..." you stopped in the middle of your sentence to look around then said, "about him, do you?"

"No..." he trailed.

"Then, be careful of your actions. Now, let's get going on working on some stuff."

~.~.~

These past few days, you decided to stay with Toothless more and watch over him. He has gotten used to you by now. It was more or less of a curious relationship between the two of you. There was one time he went up to you to purr and coo at you. You returned it with a gentle pet and a scratch under his chin. He enjoyed it and enjoyed your company ever since.

While watching over Toothless, you didn't see Hiccup at all in the arena anymore. Knowing that your younger self would most likely be there, you stayed at the cove.

You didn't mind really with the playful Toothless.

But, even at times, you get bored.

You walked the perimeter of the cove to think to yourself more. Suddenly, you heard a noise that sounded like heavy wood chopping. You went closer to the noise silently and found Astrid throwing her ax at a tree. There was another feint noise, and Astrid immediately responded and pointed her ax at Hiccup who scurried away to Toothless quickly. You followed Astrid as she followed Hiccup. She was right on his tail, so you decided to pick up a pebble and tossed at another direction away from the cove. She fell for it and became frustrated when she lost his track. You didn't move until she was out of sight and out of hearing range.

You went back to the cove and met Hiccup and Toothless there. You crossed your arms at Hiccup with an eyebrow raised.

"You want to tell me why she started following you like she knew that you were hiding something?" you asked.

"Er..." Hiccup looked away, "I might or might not be using techniques I learned from Toothless on the other dragons."

"Hiccup," you gasped, "I thought we agreed for you not to do anything."

"I know, I know," he yelled, "but Ragna, you don't understand. I'm trying to save their lives. You should have seen Astrid when she has the intent to kill them. I'm only making it look like I'm defeating the dragons, so they won't get hurt. I can't let them get hurt; not after meeting Toothless."

You listened carefully to his words. He was right. The dragons could be in worse condition if Hiccup hasn't stepped up.

"Fine," you said, "but please, just be careful of your actions."

~.~.~

It's been a few days and Toothless' tail has evolved. It was only a matter of time before Hiccup actually took it for a test drive. Your mind went to recent events and how close Hiccup was to be caught by Astrid again. He told you the whole story. You knocked his head and lectured after you heard that from him.

You swear this boy would be the death of you.

You were slightly disturbed. Your younger self has yet to be heard of and the scouting party was back and not in a good news either. You briefly saw over a cliff seeing the ship has arrived.

You suddenly felt a stinging pain from your head.

"Mom! Dad!"

You moved slightly away from the source of the pain, feeling a little better.

"[Name]! Sweetie! We're glad to see you again!"

You didn't have to look over to remember the little reunion you had with your family. You closed your eyes and remembered your mother's embrace and your dad picking you up in his. You remembered the warmth and the smiles everyone wore. Everyone was happy together.

You quickly swiped away the tear that managed to escape. You were threw with crying. There wasn't any more tears that need to be shed. You weren't lonely anymore.

You had your friends now.

~.~.~

The next day, you decided to go to the arena. You watched as everyone was competing to get to kill their first dragon.

Well, not everyone.

"Keep out of my way," you heard Astrid say to Hiccup.

You sighed and rolled your eyes. You were hoping Astrid would listen to your advice but it looks like her competitive side overshadow her feelings.

You felt the familiar stinging in your head you gotten used to. You watched your younger self trying to be involved with little as possible trying not to upset the elders.

Before you knew it, the dragon was laying by Hiccup in content (unknown to the crowd). Astrid threw her fit and became even more frustrated that Hiccup was chosen to kill a dragon.

~.~.~

"We're leaving. Let's pack up and you could come with us, Ragna."

You mockingly sat on a rock and raised a hand to look at your fingernails knowingly. You hummed.

Hiccup looked towards your way and exhaled while rolling his eyes, "What is it?"

"Just waiting for you to say it."

He muffled his word a little by his hand sliding down his face, "...right, alright, alright!" he exasperated, "You were right."

You smirked, "I'm going to say this a million time; I told you so."

"Yeah, yeah," he waved it off. He walked to Toothless with a basket while getting everything ready. "Looks like we're going to take a vacation forever."

"Hiccup, you don't have to-" you were cut short when you felt the familiar pain. You doubled over and gasped.

"Ragna," Hiccup asked, "what's wrong?"

"Get me out of here," you demanded still in pain.

Hiccup whistled Toothless over and helped you hop onto him. Toothless ran away from Hiccup with you on his back. You couldn't help but scowled at yourself for forgetting you were there right after the choosing. You never felt so much pain before.

Once the pain dulled, you commanded Toothless to stop and hop off. He cooed at you in worry.

"I'm fine, boy," you pet him in reassurance, "Now, get to Hiccup. He needs you."

He grunted and sped off towards where Hiccup was.

You suddenly felt dizzy and collapsed on your hands and knees. You were seeing double.

You gasped right when a flash of light consumed you.

Admin walks into her room with her laptop flashing a blue screen of death and seeing a strange figure looking around her room.

"H-Hiccup?!" the admin exclaimed, "What the hell! You aren't even supposed to be real!"

Hiccup crossed his arms and glared at the admin. "You've been busy lately, haven't you?"

"Well, yeah there was school and-" the admin sweated nervously but then stopped when she saw Hiccup curl up in a ball in a corner in her room. She could feel the depression from the other side of the room.

"And updating the other book as well, right?" Hiccup said in a depressing mood. "In other words, forgetting about me."

The admin felt a stab from her heart and her head. "Ack! I'm sorry!"
