Now we get into the tags that help people narrow down their search. They've searched their favourite fandom, and your work came up. That's great! But now they're going to decide if it's what they're after. That's where these next few tag groups come in.

Relationship tags are part of that. They tell your reader who the prominent romances and friendships are going to be. For example, if I was writing a Clone Wars fic, I might tag it 'AnakinSkywalker&AhsokaTano' or CC-2224xObiWanKenobi'.

Now, don't go getting all confused on me here. These distinctions are important. X or / and & are not interchangeable. X and / are both pairing tags, and tell your readers who the major romances will be, if there are any. If you tag the friendships as / or X then your readers will get the wrong idea about your work and think the wrong thing of the relationship you're writing. The & part of the tag, on the other hand, tells your readers that the relationship is a friendship.

It helps to stop confusion or dissatisfaction with the story, at least in the relationships area.
