2. Leave No Surviver Behind
(Sandstorm's POV)
I can only stare as Skull removes the kid from the tube. "What's wrong?" Crossfire yells when the others run in. "We heard a crash!" Soot shouts. "Well, uh," I stammer. "We found a robot!" Badger said with a cheeky grin. "Can we keep him!" Skull set the kid on an empty counter. "His name's James," he said. "He's a test subject." Skull prodded James with his hand before looking around. Badger and I are perched up on a counter. Bloodstain is already almost to Skull with his knife in hand. He jumps behind the kid and holds his knife to his neck. "What are you?" He demands. "I'm a S.K.U.L.L. not an 'it'." Skull says simply. "Don't be a smart ass you idiot!" Bloodstain presses the knife closer in his neck. "That won't work," Skull says. "I can be killed like that." "Bloodstain! Don't kill survivors!" Badger said in a tone like a mother telling her children not to track mud in the house. Bloodstain sighed and pushed the kid away. Skull walked back to the kid on the table. Badger slowly climbed off the counter and carefully across the glass and strange liquid. "Sandy?" She said, looking at the kid. "Pull up the kid's file on the computer." I nod and crawl over to a spiny chair in front of a blood splattered and cracked computer. "He's 15...woah check this out! He's been tested with the virus! The kid's immune!" I gawk at the screen of the dimmed computer screen. I hear gasps behind me. "Oh my god! ITS ALIVE!" I hear Crossfire shout. "Well...he's not dead," Badger shrugs. "Oh so he's a he and I'm an it?" Skull asks annoyed. "Exactly," Bloodstain nods. "What?" An unfamiliar groan sound. "An he speaks," Spider grins as I turn around. I look at the kid. He's kinda pale and has brown hair with bits of pink, a dark green sweater, a lime green scarf, jeans, and one green eye while the other is a strange orangey mixture. "James, right?" Badger asks. Badger's the kind of girl you'd see driving a black slug bug just to watch people punch each other. She has short uneven brown hair with a silvery gray dye at the ends and a dark purple strip running down the front. She likes to wear black t-shirts and snags ripped black jeans from department stores. If they aren't ripped she takes care of that real quick and in a hurry. She has this pair of combat boots she almost never takes off. Badger is by no means athletic but we've all had to adapt to changes. She kinda runs the whole operation here. The kid on the table is sitting up and nods. "Yea. Who are you?" "I'm Badger, this is Skull, that's Sandstorm, that's Soot, and that's Spider," she smiles and points to each of us respectively. "Uh...why are you all...here?" He draws out the last word cautiously. "Well..." I say. "Long story short...we're in the middle of the zombie apocalypse." You can see everyone cringe at the words. "A...what?" The kid looks at me like I've got two heads. "An apocalypse and if we don't get what we need and get out," Bloodstains says fast. "We'll all become a part of it." Skull gives James a reassuring look and helps him off the table. We search through the rest of the rooms to make sure we didn't miss anything and regroup back by the doors. I can still hear walkers pounding on the walls outside. "It's getting dark," I point out and Badger grins. "All the more reason to bust some heads," she pulls her bat out of her backpack. "Bloodstain and Crossfire, do you mind covering these two?" She nods her head at Skull and James. The two nod. Badger opens the door and runs out swinging her bat and the walker's heads. I follow close behind her with a mop I found. If and when the walkers get close I thwack them back. We run back to base with the two new guys and slam the gate shut. "That was fun!" Spider grins. "Let's go again!" Crossfire laughs. "Hell no! Not today sister!" Badger laughs back. "Come on, we got plenty of room for two more." She pushes Skull and James inside. I walk to the kitchen and pull out some utensils I'll need for dinner. I really am an awful cook so Badger usually helps but I know how to make some basic foods. Like toast. I also know how to use a microwave. I dig through the kitchen until I find what I need and start preparing dinner.
