1. Forget Life Before the Outbreak

We all have our different stories. Soot was watching movies with her family when they came and the fireplace got out of control. Spider was doing homework in his room and they broke through his window. Crossfire and I were at the movie theater watching Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them for the fifth time. Bloodstain and Sandstorm were at the store running errands. We were all the only ones to make it out. We decided to use code names when we met. Crossfire and I have been best friends since kindergarten. We got separated when the walkers found their way into the theater. I ran back home but it was too late. The place was destroyed and no one was there. I ran to my room and packed a backpack with important things I'd need and changed into a black t-shirt, ripped jeans, my leather jacket, and combat boots. I ran outside to look through the garage but there were walkers out there too. My sister played softball so there was a heavy aluminum bat by the door. I grabbed it and ran at them. One by one I removed their heads and smashed them. I ran back to the garage and looked for my dog. He was a blue healer husky and a good hunter. I found him whimpering in a corner and gave him some dog treats. We walked outside to look for Crossfire. We thought we found her but we only found a horde of walkers. I killed almost half and Petey killed some too. But there were just too many. I tripped and fell to the ground.  I was sure I was done for, until I heard shooting noises and yelling. Someone grabbed my hand and helped me up. That was when I met Bloodstain and Sandstorm. Bloodstain was a little bit taller than Crossfire with white hair and black clothing. He had blood everywhere and a massive gun in his hands with more weapons shoved in his backpack. Sandstorm was about my hight with light brown hair and a brown sweater and jeans. Sandstorm has always been in charge of the base and taking care of everyone. Crossfire had frizzy blond hair she always kept in a ponytail and a long scar running through her right eye and pale skin. She always blue t-shirts and slightly oversized shoes she could kick at the walkers when she was in a hurry. I've always hated her doing that although it's funny as all get out. Bloodstain was holding Crossfire back because she had been going straight for me but if she had the walkers would have killed her too. We looked for survivors and found Soot stuck under the remains of a burned house. She was taller than me and had soot in her black hair making it look gray and soot on her face like a mask. We found Spider fighting off walkers with a toaster and decide to help him. He was pretty good at handling that toaster and we brought it back to base with us. We found a hospital that was in pretty good shape. It was built like a fortress with a large gate, niceish rooms, food, and medical supplies. It was comfortable and roomy. Spider and Soot had known each other like Crossfire and I do and Bloodstain and Sandstorm were brothers. We made a list of jobs and hung it in the lobby.

This is how we kept up with what everyone was doing. If we needed something else done, we added it to someone's list. The town we lived in was the source of the outbreak and we broke into the lab and found a type of undeveloped cure. We've been working on it for a while. I'm sitting on the couch upside down reading a book. "How do you sit like that so long?" Spider asks me. He has black hair and amber eyes and long limbs. The guy also likes to wear Spider-Man shirts. I shrug. "I don't know." Spider shook his head and laughed. We never talk about our family. All of a sudden, Crossfire and Bloodstain burst inside. "We have a problem," She says, worry lining her eyes. Even Bloodstain looks nervous. "Walkers, loads of them, they've broken into the lab," Bloodstain explains. My eyes widen. "Round everyone up and load up. Have Sandstorm get the stuff in the hospital wing packed and ready to go," I say urgently, shoving a piece of paper in my book. I run out of the small sun room and grab my dagger and a bat. I ditched the aluminum bat a while ago. I try not to hold onto anything from back then. I run to the lobby where everyone is talking. Sandstorm has his small brown backpack packed with bandages and the furthest developed cure. He looks nervous, everyone does. "We should go before anymore get there," I say, checking my blood splattered watch and glancing outside. I sling on my black leather jacket. Soot nodded and opened the base door. We open and close back the gate before heading to the lab. The place is destroyed and currently surrounded. I glance around at my teammates and we take off toward the walkers. I try not to look at their faces but I can't always help it. I can usually even recognize them. The walkers stop beating at the walls and see us. The first one my bat comes in contact with I recognized instantly, the old lady across the street that always made me and my sister cookies. There was a girl from my class, too, and the lady from the gas station that gave me a free onion burger and candy bar on my birthday. I closed my eyes for a second to clear my head as I swung blindly. We clear a way inside and slam the door. "Soot and Spider, will you secure the doors and Bloodstain and Crossfire, please check the windows. Sandstorm, come with me to make sure there's nothing else here," I say quickly and we split up. "Badger...are we sure this is safe?" Sandstorm asks. "Well, if we come across anything, we can try the cure," I point out as we turn to a room marked 'Military Technology Testing' I walk in and check around the blood covered computers, files, and cabinets. I open a file cabinet and pull out the last file. It's your standard yellow folder with a paperclip holding a picture of a boy with gray hair and yellow eyes to a label reading 'S.K.U.L.L.' You can see bits of metal peeking out through his skin. I open the folder and at the top of a piece of paper it has a big red stamp over math equations I don't understand, 'FAIL' "Harsh," I say quietly and lift the paper.

Resists command
Refuses to shoot subjects

"A military weapon," Sandstorm concludes beside me. "They practically created a person." "They tried," I mutter and shove the folder in my bag before opening a door in the back of the room. The room is spotless, no blood anywhere, and has computers and tech hanging everywhere. In the back of the small room is the boy from the picture on one of those tables from 'Frankenstein' that stands up. I walk over to him. He, thankfully, has on jeans and a gray sweatshirt. "It's the android from the file," I say. "I'm not and android. I'm just a robot," the kid says and opens his eyes. I jump back so far a crash into a computer. "I'd prefer you don't break that. Also, I was kinda sleeping," he says. "It talks!" Sandstorm shouts. "I'm not an it," The kid grumbles. "I'm a Soldier Killing Utility Living Libertarian." "S.K.U.L.L.?" I question and he brightens. "Precisely." He stands up and hops off the table thing. "So what time is it?" He asks. "Like year wise." I glance at Sandstorm. "Aren't you two too young to work here?" "We don't work here..." Sandstorm says cautiously. "It's the twenty-first century..." I mutter. "2017..." The boy's eyes widen. "Oh...I've been out way longer than they said I was...170 years longer..." he starts to mutter to himself and I glance across the room at Sandstorm. "Your file...it said the test failed..." I say softly. "It did huh?" He growls. "Of course it did! Why are you two here anyway, if you don't work here?" "The lab's shut down," Sandstorm explains. "We're in the middle of WWZ." "WWZ?" He asks. "World War Z. Z meaning zombie," I say and the kid starts laughing. "Zombies?" She chokes. "I'm not kidding!" I shout. "See for your self!" His eyes darken. "You're not lying...h-how c-c-could there be z-zombies?" He stammers. "Damn it," he mutters. "Where's Deko?" "Deko?" Sandstorm asks. "The guy in charge of this branch? Where is he?" I shook my head. "Dead. Everyone is." "D-D-Deko is dead?" I nod grimly. "O-okay...okay..." He looks up at us. "Who are you?" "I'm Badger and that's Sandstorm." "Those aren't names," The boy says. "No, they're code names I guess. We have to keep going. Come with us if you want," I shrug and walk out of the room and down the hall. I hear Sandstorm and the robo-kid behind me. He and Sandstorm talk back and fourth as I turn to another room. 'Testing Room 001' I walk in and look around. The place is white with all kinds of lab equipment and computers. In the back is a tube of green liquid with a small brunette boy hooked up to tubes inside. I stare at the kid. He's got brown hair with pinkish tips and a green sweater and scarf. I look around for a file and find one.

Subject 16-James
Tested with Serum Z
Results: None
Effects: None
Conclusion: Ineffective

"This kid is literally a test subject. A human being," I murmur and shove that file in my bag. I hear a crash behind me and see that Skull broke the glass and is trying to get the kid out. "ARE YOU MENTAL?!" I shout and jump up on a counter.

Hey wazzup?!
The characters in this story are mostly not mine...Crossfire belongs to my friend, Soot belongs to NightsongxD , Spider belongs to GamingIV , and Bloodstain and Sandstorm belong to another friend and James belongs to her friend. Badger however I do own.
Hope you enjoyed! I will add the Spoot bits later as the chalet era change POV every time!
Peace out dudes!
