Chapter 11: Revenge Party
*Virgil POV*
I heard everything while hostage. This is all J-Dee and Remus's fault! I can't believe I trusted them.
Remus goes after me after I yelled at J-Dee. I break into a sprint, which hurts after a week of not moving. I race through the hallways, hoping to lose him. I really don't have time for class, which starts in a few minutes. Although the teachers might defend me. I doubt it, though. They only defend their favorites, and I'm never one of them.
I rush into class just as the bell rings. I take a seat in the back, where I hope no one sees me. Remus has an assigned seat here, and J-Dee isn't in this class. I never thought I'd be grateful for that.
After class, I try to sneak out. Unsuccessfully.
"Virge, can you stop running and face me?" Remus asks.
"Why should I?" I spit, "So you can tell me more lies and manipulate me?"
"What are you talking about? Are you on something right now?" Remus says.
"Yeah. A lot of rage," I say.
"Look, I'm not great with bad moods so just tell me what's going on," Remus says.
I glare at him. We're just standing in the middle of the hallway, unnoticed by everyone. I reach into my pocket and pull out my mask, which I always keep on me. I put it on and stare Remus directly in the eyes. He understands now.
I turn away from him and walk away, taking my mask off. Remus stands there in shock.
---
After school, I return home. Mom is in the living room and greets me as she normally does. A simple nod. At least she acknowledges my presence.
I go up to my room, which has remained unchanged. It seems as though all of last week never happened, as I get started on my homework. I stop when I hear a knocking on my window. I look out and see J-Dee. Remus is probably with him. I'm not opening the window for them. I pull out my phone and text him.
What tf do you want?
we need to talk. what is up with you?
you've had all of last week to talk to me
I know they didn't know it was me, but that doesn't change the fact they've been kidnapping people. They could've at least told me about it. I thought we were friends. I've been through this way too many times before, I thought I could prevent it.
what do you mean
you know exactly what I mean
I think Remus is right. you're on something rn, aren't you?
no, I'm not. You freaking kidnapped me you beach
I hate it when things autocorrect.
I have an explanation.
yeah ik, you hate the Lights and thought it would be a good idea to fake their deaths while you did who knows what with them. doesn't make you good in any way.
V, please just let us explain
Why? So you can lie more? Not a chance. We are done here, goodbye.
I turn off my phone and put it on silent. I'm done with their BS. Heck, I'm done with everyone's BS. I don't trust anyone at the school anymore. My best friends are kidnappers, I rescue the Lights and get captured, I escape on my own, and I don't get a single word of thanks from any of them. I've seen Logan in school several times today. He said nothing. I don't know when I'll be moving again, but I hope it's soon.
I turn my attention back to studying when I hear a snap. Are they that determined to talk?
"What do you want?" I growl.
They climb in through the window. It would be weird, but they've done it several times before. This was generally how we hung out, as I'm not allowed to have friends over.
"We can explain," J-Dee says.
And they do. I feel too moody to interrupt them, but the more I listen the more valid their story seems.
"And we didn't think it was you, especially after the awful things the Lights say about you," J-Dee says.
"Wait, what?"
"Oh you know, like how you're an emo freak, annoying, a try-hard goth, and how you're too anxious all the time,"
Ouch. That really hurts.
"Where's the proof?" I ask.
Remus shows me his phone. Private social media messages from the Lights about me are on it. I feel everything in me just crumble. At least at my old schools, people were brave enough to smack talk me to my face.
As a few tears slip down my face I see the panic in J-Dee's eyes.
"Uhm, ok. Well, now you know, Virgil, Roman Prince is not your friend, we're your friends. And we're gonna make him pay," He says.
I look up at them. As much as I want to deny it, revenge is sweet, and the only thing I want now. These guys have a valid excuse, the Lights don't.
"You know what friends do? They got your back and they are fun to be around~"
"Woa, woa, woa,"
"When someone hurts you then they attack, and grind your foe into the ground~"
I'm not so sure I want them to kidnap them again. But I guess we're back to being in a musical.
"It's a revenge party, a party that ends with somebody's head on the spike! A revenge party, with your two best friends! It's like a party and revenge it's what it's like. A party where everything is what it's like. A party where everything is what it's like. A party where revenge is what is like~" The finish.
As they sang, we planned. The Lights have already dropped in popularity, but that'll change when they get back to school. We are going to make sure we get on top, so the Lights never can again. We're going to be called the Dark Sides because we are the opposite of the Lights.
Also, J-Dee and Remus seem to hate the person who made them do the kidnappings, so we're getting revenge on her too.
At school the next day, Logan approaches me.
"Anx, are you ok? Where were you last week?" He asks.
"None of your business. Not like you even care, anyway. And my name is Virgil, thank you,"
I smirk at his startled expression. It's time he knew my name just so he can dwell on the fact he's been calling me the wrong name for a while now.
I now have Revenge Party stuck in my head. Great. Well, I hope you enjoyed reading, I am going to go listen to the soundtrack to Mean Girls now, and feel free to leave any thoughts or feedback in the comments. Have a splendid day/night you magnificent peep!
