A Whole New World
~Emma's POV~
As soon as Jacob put the car in park about five minutes away from the loop, he crashed his head into the stirring wheel and let out a long groan.
We had all been travelling all night, barely getting any rest. Bronwyn and Georgina would take a couple of cat naps, but Georgina was too worried to sleep for long, and Bronwyn didn't sleep well in cars.
After our brief talk with the ymbryne's offspring, we had convinced Emily to lend us her car, in exchange for taking Millard. He and Hugh had taken her car, to our relief since none of us really care to hear anymore about their love lives.
I grudgingly got out of the car, stretching my limbs and yawning. Hugh and Millard got out of Emily's car as well, as other cars began to park around us.
Hugh and Millard seemed as tired as the rest of us, so I expected the other peculiar to be sleepy as well. I was mistaken.
"DON'T STOP ME NOW!!!!" Natalie, TJ, Charlie, and Percy sang/scream as they popped out of a car. "CAUSE I'M HAVING A GOOD TIME, I'M HAVING A BALL!!"
Poor Fiona.
Fiona then popped out of the car, sleepily walking towards me, while resting her hand on her stomach.
As they continued singing, Emily, Max, Luke, and Victoria came out of a car, slightly laughing. They even joined in as the song played out from the car.
"How on earth are any of you this energetic after how many hours of driving?" Millard asked.
"We spent five drugged in the back." Max said. "Thanks to you guys."
"For the record, you weren't drugged." Georgina mumbled as she and Bronwyn emerged from the car. "You were simply knocked out."
"Sure." Emily said as she rolled her eyes. She then turned back to her four slightly more normal friends. "Should we stop them?"
Her weirder friends were still dancing oddly and singing along to some song, which I had never heard before. Luke nodded before going into the car that had music coming out of it, and turned it off, to the dismay of the four.
"Aww." Natalie whined. "We were having fun."
"By destroying the poor girl's eardrums." Luke snorted. He then turned to Fiona. "Sorry about them. And to answer any questions, yes they are always this annoying."
"So, how was your ride Emily?" Millard started.
But before she could answer his question, we were interrupted by Percy, Natalie, TJ, and Charlie approaching us.
"So, we have like a million questions about this stuff." Charlie said. "Is their like a school that we can go to, where there's like learn more about this kind of...I don't know, magic?"
"And just out of curiosity, with the school, is their an entire secret world of magical people?" Natalie asked.
"So will we get wands when we see these people?" TJ asked. "And then we'll have unlimited power?"
"Well, probably not unlimited power, right?" Percy asked. "But if we get three items will we have unlimited power? Like a wand, a stone, and a cloak?"
They continued to ramble on until I interrupted them.
"This is not Harry Potter." I said flatly. "We all have one, sometimes two, special abilities that make us different from normal people. Because of these abilities, we have been persecuted for witchcraft, and have been forced to hide. Does that answer every question you have?"
"Nope." Charlie said. "I still have about fifty more."
"So, what can our grandmothers do?" Percy asked. "Can my granny teleport? Also, how exactly did you guys find out we were their grandchildren?"
"Millard got a lock of all of your hair." Hugh said. "And Miss Finch, your great aunt, made this thing. She added one of your hairs to it, and it showed your peculiar lineages. We found out because one of your grandmothers was revealed to be Miss Avocet. Then all hell broke loose and, now we're here."
"How do you know?" Millard asked. "You weren't there."
"Where were you?" Natalie asked.
"Fiona had just broken up with me after I fucked up." Hugh said sadly. "And, Jake told me."
"How did you fuck up?" TJ asked.
"She told me she was pregnant and I overreacted a little bit." Hugh admitted.
"A little bit?" I asked.
"How did you overreact?"
"Look, we're almost here!" Hugh said, jogging away at the question.
"It was horrible." I said. "He was an ass to Fiona. Let's just leave it at that."
"Okay." Natalie shrugged. "So, how far?"
"See where Hugh is standing now?" Millard pointed at Hugh who wasn't that far away. "That's the loop entrance."
"Is it a secret door or something?" Charlie asked.
"You'll see." I said.
Finally, we all reached the entrance. The eight ymbryne offspring looked at it confusingly.
"So, how do we get in?" Emily asked.
"We're all peculiar, so we're all able to get in. Follow us." Millard explained. "Oh by the way, if anyone has a weak stomach, you may have the urge to vomit after going through."
With that, Millard, Jacob, Bronwyn, Georgina, Fiona, Hugh, and I entered the loop and walked into the hallway in Devil's Acre. We waited a few seconds before the other followed, a few looking sick as they walked in.
"Wow." Luke said as he walked into the hallway. Behind him, TJ had a sickly expression on his face, while Percy looked as though he was about to throw up.
"Why are we in a hallway?" Victoria asked.
Before anyone could answer, we heard someone yelling at us. To our surprise, we turned to see Enoch and Horace running over to us.
"What are you guys doing here?" I asked Enoch and Horace once they made their way over.
"How are you guys here?" Millard asked.
"Miss P made a pocketloop in Jacob's shed." Horace explained. "She told me when she made it since I'm the most trustworthy out of the lot of us."
Enoch scoffed. "She told you because you're most likely to blab."
"Wait, what's a pocketloop, and why is it in my shed?"
"And what's a loop?" Charlie asked. "Still haven't got a clear answer on that."
"No time for explanations!" Horace said. "They're peculiar!" He shouted pointing at them.
"No duh." Jacob said. "They're standing a loop."
"Which is...?" Emily asked.
"Horace had a dream about them." Enoch explained. "And not the normal kind of dream he has, the other one."
"What other one?" Jacob asked.
"Horace has two types of dreams, prophetic ones, and significant memories of other people's." I explained. "The other one is rare, but it does happen. He had one about you actually."
"What was it?" Jacob asked.
"No time!" Horace exclaimed. "Miss Peregrine will notice we're gone soon! Where are the other seven?"
"What other seven?" Millard asked.
"The seven other peculiars." Horace said. "There was one who could fly, one who was extremely fast, another who could pick up a boulder over his head, much like you Bronwyn, and-"
"Wait!" TJ said. "What did these people look like?"
"The one who was fast was a blond man, the girl who could fly had brown hair, the one who could lift things had a lot of tattoos, there was also a man with brown hair who could spark up his hands with electricity, and their was a trio of Latin Americans, I'm assuming, one boy and two girls. The boy could move things with his mind, the girl could change her appearance, and the other girl could do the weirdest thing- change into an avocet!" Horace explained.
The eight all had their jaws open, pupils expanded, and confusion written across their faces.
"That sounds like our parents!" Emily said.
"And Aunt Lucia!" Natalie added.
"What?" Horace asked. "Also, how have you guys not been taken in by an ymbryne, and for that matter your parents? And, and-"
But Horace never finished his thought as Miss Peregrine came stomping down the hall, pissed as hell.
"Where have you all been?!" She shouted. "I wake up to find that you're all gone, so I assume you've snuck away and gone home, but once I arrive there, I see only Mr. Somnusson, Mr. O'Connor, Miss Elephanta, and Miss Densmore! Then as I'm waiting to confront the lot of you at the Portman's home, I watch the news to see that the eight of them have been kidnapped! Does anyone have a way to explain why they have disrespected mine and Miss Finch's wishes and brought them here!"
"No, ma'am." We all answered in unison.
We then heard the sound of another person walking down the hallway.
"Alma, is everything alright?" The voice said.
Miss Avocet then joined us in the hallway, looking at us, and then the other peculiars.
"What's Miss Avocet doing back?" Millard whispered so that only Miss Peregrine, Jake, Hugh, Fiona, Horace, Enoch, Bronwyn, and I could hear.
"After you guys went missing, they called the other birds here." Enoch explained. "Though I have no idea why they weren't here in the first place."
"Alma, what's going on?" Miss Avocet asked once again.
"Esmeralda, these are your and the other bird's grandchildren."
~Emily's POV~
After the woman who was my grandmother showed up, she immediately turned around and left. Millard's foster mother encouraged us to go to the bedrooms upstairs, which she told us had a few beds per room. She also told us only girls in one room, and boys in another, looking straight at Hugh and Fiona.
Charlie and I then convinced her to let all of us (by that I mean my cousins and friends) share a room, since half of us were family, and the other half was like family. She finally agreed, most likely because she was tired of listening to me and Charlie.
Emma led us to the bedroom which she said had the most beds. We thanked her and she left. We then opened the door to see five bunk beds, each with a little night table to their side. The room also had a few pictures lining the walls, and a small closet, which Max opened to find an array of clothes from the nineteenth century.
We all plunked on two different bed, all sitting up and let out long sighs.
I couldn't believe it. That was her. My grandmother. The woman who had abandoned my mother, uncle, and aunt. It shouldn't surprise me that the minute she saw us, she walked away.
"Holy fuck." Max said after a period of silence.
"Yeah." Luke said.
"I wonder how worried our parents are?" Natalie thought out loud.
"It sounds like they have a search party for us." Charlie said. "They're probably scared shitless."
"I wish we could call them, but I have no cell service here." Luke said, showing his phone which was dead.
"We really should have called them the second we woke up." TJ added. "They probably think the worst happened."
It was silent for awhile before Percy spoke up.
"Do you think that it says that we were last seen in a clubhouse in the police report?"
That caused a few laughs.
"I can see the headline now." Charlie laughed. "'Eight Teenagers Missing: Last Seen in Childhood Playhouse.'"
"Hey, it's an advanced playhouse!" Luke defended. "It has a microwave, a TV, a mini fridge.."
"And then the next question will be on how these things run without a generator." Victoria added.
"And then Charlie will have to erase everyone's memories..." Max laughed.
"And the cycle starts again." I said.
There was another period of silence, until Charlie spoke up.
"So, are we going to talk about the Abe thing?"
"What?" Victoria asked.
"Do you guys remember Mr. Portman?" I asked. "The guy who used to come and talk to my parents and Percy's mom?"
When we had first received our powers, our parents had called this guy, Mr. Abraham Portman, but he insisted that we call him Abe. He had taught us about beasts, and how they were invisible monsters wanting to attack us. He would come check up on us every other month, but as of late, the visits have been getting rarer and rarer. The last time we saw him was about two years ago.
"Yeah, I remember him." Percy said. "Why?"
"Do you think he's related to Jacob?" Charlie asked.
"Really?" Max asked. "Mr. Portman, the dude who taught us about beasts, related that rich asshole."
"How do you know he's rich?" Natalie asked.
Max and Luke then looked to each other like deer caught in the headlights. Percy and Charlie looked up, and then at the rest of us.
"Jacob's related to the Smart Aid family." Max said, waiting for a reaction.
"What?!"
"Those assholes?!"
"He never seemed that awful."
"How did you guys find out?"
"He was trying to get fired all summer, since it's a family tradition that every kid works there." Luke said. "We literally had to clean up after him like a million times."
"Spoiled brat." Max mumbled.
"Abe is his grandfather?" Victoria asked. "Bad ass, war hero, fucking awesome Abe?"
"Maybe." I shrugged. "I mean when you think of it, Portman's a pretty common last name."
"Yeah, but Jacob has powers like Abe." Charlie pointed out. "They're both from the same area, and didn't Abe mention he had a grandkid."
"Wait." Victoria said. "Didn't Jacob go to Europe this summer because his grandfather died?"
Silence filled the room as Victoria pointed this out. We all looked to each other, worried.
"It couldn't have been...?" Natalie started.
"We haven't seen Abe in two years." Luke said. "It's possible."
"Oh my god." Percy said, awestruck.
"Fuck it." Charlie mumbled, getting up from his place next to me. "Let's go ask."
"Charlie what are you talking about?" TJ asked.
"Let's just go ask Jacob if his grandpa's Abe." Charlie said, shrugging as he stepped out of the room.
"Charlie!" I said, springing up. "We don't know where the hell anything is here."
"We can figure it out." Charlie shrugged. "You guys coming?"
"I guess." TJ said, joining him. Percy shrugged and followed after him, followed by Luke, Victoria, Max, and Natalie.
"Guys!" I said, trailing behind them. "We have no idea what's here."
"Em, what's the big deal?" Victoria asked. "We're going to ask a simple question.
"Still." I said as we walked out into the dark hallway. "We could walk in on a satanic ritual and they could like kill us or something."
"Okay, Em, if that happens, we can just run for it." Charlie said. "Better yet, we have Percy with us."
"How is that going to help?" Emily said.
"I can teleport people out of here." Percy said. "In case you forgot."
"Not to mention Max is indestructible, Luke can teleport things to like hurt them, TJ can turn into a small animal and escape, and Victoria can electrocute them." Charlie added. "So in other words, we'll be fine if they turn out to be a satanic cult who brought us here to sacrifice us."
"Fine." I said. "But if we don't make it, I'm going to take over hell and make you guys my bitches when we're there."
"Aren't we already kind of your bitches?" Natalie asked.
"If you were, we wouldn't be doing this." I pointed out. "We would have thought out a plan, and implemented it at an appropriate time."
"You would of loved if we did that." Max said. "And if you could have made a pro and con list, and written it all down."
"Well it would be absolutely necessary to write it down." Percy added. "So we would have already have had gone looking for paper and stuff."
"So, we're exactly where we would have been if we listened to you." TJ said.
"Except we're actually getting results." Charlie said.
"I need new friends." I grumbled.
We walked along the hallway for about 5 minutes until TJ, Percy, and Natalie began to grow impatient. We came to a door that had a light shining through the crack.
"Would they be in there?" Natalie whispered. "Can we open the door or something?"
"Yeah and see where they keep their taxidermied bodies." Max said.
"Okay, you think they taxidermy bodies, but you don't think this could be a satanic cult." I said.
"I, personally, think you're both full of shit." Charlie said. "We could maybe knock."
Natalie knocked on a door, but there was no answer. She knocked louder. Nothing.
"Let's just peek in." TJ shrugged, opening the door slightly.
"TJ, no!" I protested.
"Oh, c'mon Em." Percy said. "There's a light coming through."
"Well, maybe they will hear us and ask what's up." I said.
"Or they're ignoring us." TJ pointed out.
"Well, we can't just barge in." I said.
"They barged into our hideout." Luke said.
"And kidnapped us." Victoria added.
This was all the support TJ needed to open the door. I crossed my arms as he poked his head in, before letting out a shout.
"HOLY FUCK!" He screamed.
"What?!" I asked.
Natalie squealed as Charlie and Percy's jaws dropped. Max, Luke, Victoria, and I peeked around their shoulders when we saw it.
"OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD!" Natalie screamed as it came towards us.
"THEY HAVE A FUCKING BEAR!?" Luke screamed.
Well, I thought, I told them so.
-Millard's POV-
As soon as Miss Peregrine had introduced Miss Avocet to her grandchildren and the others, everyone had grown quiet. Natalie, Emily, Charlie, and Luke's eyes had grown wide, as Miss Avocet's jaw dropped. She immediately turned around, mumbling something to Miss Peregrine.
Miss Peregrine cleared her throat and spoke to us.
"Children, I think that it's best that you all go to bed. It's been a long day. Emma, show them to the rooms. Boys and girls in separate rooms. I would like to avoid further... surprises."
She looked to Hugh and Fiona.
Everyone mumbled in agreement as Emily and Charlie approached her.
"Um, Miss Peregrine." Emily said. Miss Peregrine looked to her.
"I'm Emily Williams and this is my brother, Charlie." She smiled. "I've heard so many great things about you from Millard."
"Yes." She said plainly.
"We were just wondering," Charlie began. "You see, Natalie and Luke are our cousins, and Percy, Victoria, Max, and TJ have been our best friends for years. The eight of us would do nothing inappropriate in the company of each other, especially Emily, Luke, Natalie, and me."
"I assume the eight of you wish to room together?" She asked.
"Yes, please." Emily smiled, putting on a fake smile as her friends did the same.
"I suppose there would not be a problem considering that four of you are related." She said. "You may room together."
"Thank you!" Emily said.
"Miss Bloom show them to their rooms." Miss Peregrine said to her.
They left, following Emma. As the rest of us filed out to our rooms, Miss Peregrine called Bronwyn and me back.
"I'm afraid I must go explain this to their parents." She said. "Georgina will join me. I will be leaving you two and Miss Bloom in charge. Please make sure that the eight of them are safe."
"We will." I said.
"And keep Mr. Apiston and Miss Fraunfeld separated." She added. "I do not want him to upset her anymore."
"Got it, ma'am." Bronwyn said.
"Thank you." Miss Peregrine said. "Please inform Miss Bloom , Miss Bruntley."
We then left for our rooms, to exhausted to talk anymore. I went into the boys as Bronwyn talked with Emma. I opened the door to reveal Jacob, Enoch, and Horace already asleep, while Hugh looked up to the ceiling. I slipped into the adjoining bathroom and washed off my makeup, and took off my wig, becoming invisible again. I stripped down and got into the lower bunk beside him, and prepared to close my eyes when he spoke up.
"Millard, if you ever knocked someone up-"
"I'm invisible. It would be impossible." I answered shortly.
"Hypothetically." Hugh said. "If you did, what would you do?"
"I wouldn't act the way you acted."
"I got that much." Hugh said. "But, about the baby."
"I don't know Hugh." I said. "I've never given it much thought, considering the fact that no woman can see me, and we've been stuck in a loop for 75 years."
"Sorry." Hugh mumbled. "It's just, I love Fiona. And I've always liked the idea of the two of us having a family and stuff. But, since we've been in the loop for so long, I never thought that we could. And when we left, I thought that, we could maybe move on with our lives. Y'know, get married, maybe start one of those market things Jacob took us to, and maybe have a kid when we're older. But, with her pregnant now..."
"Yes." I said.
"It's just, we finally have our lives in front of us, and I've managed to get her pregnant. How the hell did I do that?"
"The two of you shagged in the garden for about 60 years with the cheapest birth control you could find on the island." I said.
"I suppose." Hugh said. "It's just-"
"Hugh," I said. "I understand that the best time for you to have a heart to heart with someone is at three in the morning after a day of driving, but I'm exhausted. So please-"
But I didn't finish my thought as I was interrupted by screaming.
"What the fuck?" Enoch said as he woke up. Horace and Jacob woke up as well, getting up and walking out of the room.
We walked out as Emma, Bronwyn, and Fiona did the same, Olive and Claire in Bronwyn and Fiona's arms.
"What did they do?" Emma said, upon seeing us. "Millard are you there?"
"Yes." I said.
"Let's go." She said, leading the way. All of us followed her down the hallway, Olive and Claire whimpering slightly.
We made it to the grimbear quarters when we saw the eight of them frozen in shock, panicking. Emma rolled her eyes.
"It's harmless." Emma called. "It's called a grimbear. They don't attack peculiar."
They all turned to look at us, as Emma ushered the grimbear back in.
Victoria, Max, Percy, and TJ relaxed a little bit but, Emily, Natalie, Charlie, and Luke had dropped their mouths in horror.
"PENIS!!" Natalie and Emily then yelled. Everyone looked to them, confused.
"Um Millard?!" Charlie said. "Why the fuck are you naked?!"
Everyone snapped their heads to them, while Victoria, Max, Percy, and TJ looked at them confused.
"Millard's there?" Victoria asked.
"Uh yeah!" Luke said, averting his eyes. "And he's fucking naked!"
"You can SEE him?!" Emma exclaimed.
Enoch then broke out laughing, as everyone looked at them in awe.
I finally realized what state I was in. I blushed all over and covered my private area, as Bronwyn handed me her night robe, jaw slack.
"How-how?" I stuttered.
"Like we know." Emily said. "We just- can!"
"Of course." Emma said. "Everyone, let's go back to bed, we can deal with this in the morning. The eight of you should share rooms with us, there's enough beds to each room."
There was some quiet discontent, but they all mumbled out a yes, and followed the rest of us. Emma led the girls into one room, and Jacob led the boys into ours. We showed them their beds as we got into ours, Enoch still laughing.
I laid my head on a pillow, groaning internally.
I can't believe she saw my penis.
~No one's POV~
A black haired woman was at down in her kitchen, cupping a cup of coffee. The TV was playing in the background, but she paid no attention to it. She looked worried and tired at the same time.
The door to the house opened, and two men and two women came through, along with four children. The first man had brown hair, slightly messy. The second one was blond and lanky, and had a sleeping baby in his arms. The blond haired woman was also carrying a small child, no older than eight, while the brunette woman led her two small children in, both exhausted.
"Well?" The brown haired man asked hopefully in an English accent.
"I called everyone I could think of." She said in a thick Irish one. "No one has seen or heard from them. And the police department hasn't heard anything."
She fell into his arms, almost ready to cry. The blond couple had placed their children on the couch beside a little girl who was engulfed in a blanket and snoring softly. The other two children followed, curling up on the couch.
"Sandra, it will be fine." The man said. "They're out there somewhere."
"How do you know, Charlie?" She said.
He didn't respond, but held her tighter.
A knock rang through the house, the blond man getting up to answer it. Everyone looked to the door hopefully as he opened it.
The door opened to reveal a pale woman dressed in Victorian clothing. A teenage girl with auburn hair stood beside her, her arms crossed.
"Hello." The woman spoke. "My name is Alma LeFay Peregrine. I believe we all should discuss something."
A/N: Well it's been a while.......
So, I actually found my kindle the other day while cleaning out my boyfriend's apartment (I've been staying with him throughout the quarantine). I charged it up and looked to find this chapter almost finished, and thought, what the hell, why not.
For those of you who have just read this, I would like to point out that I was a senior in high school when I started this, and now I'm finished with my sophomore year in college, so that's why I've been so inconsistent with updates, and why some of this stuff may be a bit outdated. I also used to have a randomness book, so if there are any mentions of that, then there's the explanation.
Anyways thank you to those who have read, voted, or commented on this, even though I basically forgot about it for about a year. Here's to hoping I can update before I go back to college, which will be fuck knows when.
Bye- Beth
