Chapter 4
I wept silently.
Virgil was gone.
Roman and Logan were fighting, and maybes winning.
I didn't care.
My heart felt like I had been stabbed myself.
"Virgil.." I sobbed,
"Patton?" Roman asked softly
I sat shaking, "He's dead..."
"It's going to be ok... Deceit, he's gone!" He smiled, not hiding the grief in his eyes.
I felt a dull ache in my chest.
It didn't hurt.
But I felt like I had been ripped open.
I teleported away, back home.
To Virgil's room.
I opened the door.
Purple walls.
A black table with poetry scrawled on white paper in purple pen.
'Roses are red,
Violets are dying,
I'm all alone,
And I know that I'm crying.'
I smiled softly, ignoring my tears.
'The worst lie,
Is saying you love them,
That leaves them to cry,
And you know that they are a gem.
The sun will set,
But I know that,
The problem yet,
I know he'll chat.
The world turns,
I see it myself,
It feels like it burns,
I look in health.
The worst lie,
Is making them, bit by bit, die'
I cried.
I stood when I saw the guitar.
It was plugged in.
I played.
"Yesterday all my troubles seemed so far away.
Now it looks as though they're here to stay.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.
Suddenly, I'm not half the man I used to be.
There's a shadow hanging over me.
Oh, yesterday came suddenly.
Why she had to go?
I don't know, she wouldn't say.
I said something wrong.
Now I long for yesterday.
Yesterday,
Love was such an easy game to play.
Now I need a place to hide away.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.
Why she had to go?
I don't know, she wouldn't say.
I said something wrong.
Now I long for yesterday.
Yesterday,
Love was such an easy game to play.
Now I need a place to hide away.
Oh, I believe in yesterday."
I sighed.
Before I heard a voice.
"Patton?"
I stepped out.
"Hey, uh, hey guys."
My eyes must've been red because I heard a gasp.
"Are you ok?"
"No."
I felt ashamed.
"I need a sec."
I walked into his room.
I picked up a pen and found the final piece of paper.
I wrote.
'Tell him that you love him,
Because a few moments of courage will save you from the brim.'
I was already crying.
"Virgil."
I knew that he was gone.
Never to be coming back.
I looked at his small leather seat.
The room was full of sadness.
I fell asleep on the chair, washing it with tears.
The next day
"Hello Patton."
