Chapter Two

Thalia sighed in relief as the school bell rang, stuffing her books into her bag. Maths. Her absolute least favourite subject, especially since it was the only class Annabeth wasn't in with her, seeing as she was only at pass level, but Annabeth was at honours.

As she walked outside into the school yard, she bit her lip, glancing around as she tried to spot the blonde girl.

A moment later, she grinned and ran over to her, ignoring Luke's snickers and taunts. "Hey, Annabeth!"

Annabeth turned and smiled at her, but a brown haired girl beside her frowned at Thalia. "What?"

"Reyna, relax," Annabeth sighed. "This is Thalia... Thalia..."

"Thalia Grace." Thalia smiled slightly, deciding to at least attempt to be civil to the girl. "And you are?"

"Reyna." The brunette's eyes were still narrowed. "Her roommate."

Thalia nodded, smiling as she offered out her hand. "Nice to meet you." Reyna didn't take it.

"So, you ready to go, Thalia?"

Before Thalia could say anything, Reyna's head snapped to the side. "Go where? Annie, you don't know this place well enough."

This confused Thalia slightly. Killarney was an easy enough town to remember, even if you'd only been there for a short amount of time, and by the sounds of it, the girls had been there for several days. "If you want, you can come too, we could go to the cinema or something."

Reyna growled, obviously not pleased with the arrangement, but Annabeth nodded eagerly, making Thalia smirk slightly at the brunette.

Leading them out of the yard, Thalia grinned. "So... either of you like Marvel?"

Thalia smiled as she exited the cinema with the two girls following close behind, Annabeth still chuckling every now and then.

Reyna shook her head, slightly exasperated and mumbled something in Latin.  Annabeth chuckled. "Relax, you can watch the Lion King when we get home."

Thalia laughed slightly, "You like the Lion King?" Reyna scowled and looked away. "Hey, I like it too. My brother always teases me for it."

"Well... hang on." Reyna frowned. "You like it too?"

"It's only my favourite movie!" Thalia exclaimed.

And so went on the conversation, making Annabeth smile. Thalia had done something barely anyone else had been able to; she had found a common ground with Reyna.

But then, she felt a small pang in his chest as they reached their new house, watching as Reyna muttered a 'goodbye' to Thalia and walked inside, leaving the two on the path, alone.

"Um... well, I suppose I should go now," Thalia said. "Mom'll be home soon and it's my turn to cook dinner."

Annabeth looked down awkwardly. "Thanks, Thalia. For everything."

Thalia nodded and turned to leave, but - quite suddenly - she whipped back around and pulled Annabeth into a kiss.

Her eyes widened. How did-? Oh screw it. She wrapped her arms around Thalia's neck, returning the kiss.

Thalia smiled into the kiss and wrapped her arms around Annabeth's waist, drawing her closer. After a minute, they broke apart. "Um..." Annabeth blushed. "See you tomorrow..." She quickly made her way inside.

Annabeth pushed open the door to find her roommate's ponytail whipping around a corner after her, which led into their shared bedroom.

I really need to make sure she's not at the door if that happens again, she sighed softly before walking into the kitchen and proceeding to begin cooking dinner.

Her father wouldn't be home from work, Reyna had proven that the most she could make was a bowl of cereal - and even then it often caught fire - without poisoning someone, and their dogs... yeah, nothing needed to be said there.

As she turned on the kettle, she turned around, hearing a slight chuckle, to see her roommate. "So she kissed you," she muttered in Latin, smirking as Annabeth nodded, blushing, before picking up a packet of spaghetti. "I was wondering when she'd make her move. It was pretty obvious she liked you."

"Y-you think?" Annabeth queried, blushing even more as she dropped the bag.

Reyna nodded. "I have one question though." When Annabeth looked up, she smirked deviously again. "What did she taste like?"

"Reyna!" The blonde cried furiously, chasing after the brunette as she laughed and ran out of the room. After catching up to her, she managed to pin her harmlessly against the wall, using her roommate's ticklishness to her advantage. Ten minutes later, the brunette was gasping for breath in between laughs as she begged Annabeth to let her go, which she did.

As she walked back into the kitchen and re-boiled the kettle, Reyna smirked again. "No, seriously. What did she taste like?"

Thalia grinned as she walked into her house, only to be pinned against the door a moment later by her brother. "And where have you been?"

She muttered something furiously, before realising she had just spoken in Japanese, which her brother didn't know. "I mean none of your business!"

Jason frowned, loosening his grip. "Since when did you start speaking Japanese again?"

"Since when did you start sticking your nose into my business?" Thalia retaliated, wriggling out of her brother's grip and - surprising him - catching his arm and shoving it behind his back. "And for your information, I was showing the new kids at school around town."

Jason narrowed his blue eyes, aiming a poorly aimed kick at his sister's shin, his blonde bangs hanging in his eyes and obscuring his vision. He knew she was stronger than him, so he wasn't going to attempt getting free any other way. "Luke said he saw you kiss Chase!"

"Screw Castellan!" Thalia snarled, releasing her brother as she narrowed her eyes dangerously. "You can tell him that if he doesn't butt out of things and leave the new kids alone, he's going to have to answer to me! And this time, there won't be someone to warn me to go easy on him!"

With that she whipped around and stalked into the kitchen, slamming the door behind her as she turned on the oven. It was only as she placed the lasagne in that she realised what her brother had said.

Someone had seen her kiss another girl, and that someone was Luke Castellan.

"...Shit..."
