A Day Out With Friends (Part 2)

I didn't exactly mind being cramped in the back between Bill and Ted, but I sat entirely stiff, trying not to lean on them or let our legs touch. For some reason, apparently, I thought that was innapropraite.

Ted would sometimes have little subtle movements so that our arms would just barely brush, or Bill would stretch and bump into me a little. It was overwhelming, when I thought about it. Maybe they expected me to make a move, if last night was true.

Come to think of it, I'd never had a dream so vivid.

At that moment, the very moment I was about to lean over and begin kissing Bill on the neck, it felt like something inside me broke, and I lowered into myself, crumpling down.

Curse cramps.

"You okay duder?" Ted asked as I curled up. I breathed through my teeth.

"Just a little stomach ache," I lied. I stayed hunched over, and then suddenly, I felt fingertips on my lower back. Ted was running little circles into my spine. I shuddered. He paused.

"...Sorry,"

"Nooo, that felt gooood," I whined.

Bill eagerly leaned in and gently stroked little patterns down my back.

What are they expecting to get out of this? If they want me to sleep with them, they're out of luck right now...

The searing pain subsided but I didn't have the heart to tell the boys to stop. I had, what they so elegantly called... a...chubby?

Scar pulled up to the mall five minutes later and fixed the mirror.

"Stop making out back there you three!" She shouted. Bill and Ted ripped their hands from me, and River spun around in his seat to look.

"Shut up, Scarlet," I growled, reaching up to pull a chunk of her purple hair.

"Jerk," she said.

"Idiot," I stuck out my tongue.

"Dickweed," Ted added.

Scar and I laughed.

Bill hopped out of the van first and offered me a hand. I took it and clambored out.

"Where to?" River asked, shielding his eyes from the bright San Dimas sun.

Scar directed us, "You guys eat yet?"

Bill, Ted and I shook our heads.

"Food court," she confirmed. I winced slightly in pain and Scar gave me a look that all girls know. I nodded a little and she gave me a sympathetic pat on my shoulder.

The five of us went into the San Dimas Mall. It was a really nice place. There was always something to do, from the ice rink, to the aerobics classes, to just browsing the music stores. The music store, not surprisingly, was where Scar and I first met.

River sat on the escalator railing and rode it up, kinda holding onto me for support. I didn't mind. He had nice hands. He got to the top and jumped off.

"Don't hurt yourself, jerk," Scar teased, rolling her eyes.

Right at the top of the escalator were food stands. I was ready to go for a hot dog when I stopped myself short when I remembered River's veganism.

Instead, the lot of us got something much better: about three orders of large curly fries. We all pooled our cash and started rationing for food and outfits.

Then Scarlet suggested coffee from the little stand around the corner, so we hauled off, clutching coffee and hot chocolate and tea and donuts and curly fries, all while trying to stop our skin from burning off with the hot drinks.

French fries and hot chocolate sounded like a pretty awful breakfast, but to a girl suffering from period cramps, it was literally heaven. Scar even slipped me some pain killers.

What a lifesaver. Where would I be without her?

Ted leaned on my shoulder when he finished his donut. The gesture was simple but still startled me. I tensed up so he wouldn't move off me.

He had freckles on his arms that I'd never seen before. I wondered what would happen if I kissed them.

"Spin the bottle?" Scar offered as everyone finished, holding up her empty cup.

I laughed and kinda shook my head. "Not this time, Scar. We don't need anyone getting pregnant."

"Pff, you're one to talk," she snorted.

I gave her a low glare and she rolled her eyes. "C'mon, sister, we've got stuff to do."

Not long after we left the food court, two girls cane up to us. One of them was a bit shorter with light hair, the other was taller and darker with a lot of teased, messy hair.

"Hey... are you guys Wyld Stallyns?" The taller asked.

Bill and Ted's jaws dropped.

"Yeah, babes!" Bill finally stammered.

"We saw you both times you played at The Arrow. Good job dudes!" The shorter one said.

"Honestly, we're surprised you recognized us! I am Ted 'Theodore' Logan, and this is my best friend, Bill S. Preston, Esquire!" Ted declared, his hand over his heart like always.

I was in the background grinning to myself as they talked. It was awesome to see them recognized and praised. It made my heart flutter a bit to see how excited the group as a whole had gotten. The girls hugged the guys and kinda wandered away after a minute, and Bill and Ted's faces lit up like fireworks.

"Woah!" Bill cheered, "Two bodacious babes totally just wanted to meet us!"

"Look out! Rockstars in the house!" River grinned, high fiving the both of them.

Ted gave a very knowing smirk and lifted his shirt up to reveal his stomach. It made the bottom of my stomach drop out.

"Down boy," I said quickly, blushing slightly.

He assumed a very puppy-like manner and kinda nuzzled my shoulder.

I scratched his head to entangle my fingers on his hair, and on cue, he kicked the ground like a dog when you hit the right spot.

It was so cute I wanted to die, and I didn't want to stop petting him, as silly as that sounded.

He only stopped when his face was in my shoulder and Scar was making hearts with her fingers. When he stopped, Bill took it up a level and decided it would be good to lick my cheek.

I shrieked and squirmed away only to find that Ted had latched on and wouldn't let me move.

"You guys are the worst!" I squealed loudly, biting Bill's finger as he tried to cover my mouth. "I'm supposed to be this shy, professional wallflower and you're totally bringing me out of my shell! Unfair!"

Bill used my head as an arm rest.

"What can I say? We can't help that we're just totally charismatic and fun, dude,"

"Yeah, and humble too," River added. "Come on, before they close the mall."

And we were off again.

I don't know who decided to link arms with who first, but soon enough, all of us were connected at the elbow. It was a little inconvenience to the people who were behind us, but we figured they could deal with it.

The day plan was to get at least one new outfit for when we next met with Nathan Sheppard. I was also making a quick stop by the poster store to get another 100 Wyld Stallyns posters made.

I figured that, since the boys were being recognized now, people might want to buy posters next time they played. We could use the money, and if no one bought them, we could keep them.

Finally, we would go ice skating. It was easily the best part of the whole San Dimas Mall, and all of us knew that we would have to do that last, or else we'd never shop in the first place.

We went to three different stores to find what we needed for clothes, while Bill, Ted, and River only really needed one. The boys honestly had no clue what to do in the 'girly' stores while Scar and I looked around.

Every time they saw an underwear display, they would either completely ignore it in the most awkward way possible, or immediately go touch it.

"You guys are five," I sighed one time, after Ted walked right into a rack of bras, freaked out, and ran in the other direction.

Once he realized he was still holding one, he yelped and threw it at me like it burned him on contact.

The red bra hit me in the face and I huffed.

"Ted," I said frankly, walking back to him, "It's cloth that goes over boobs. You'll be fine."

Ted went beet red and grabbed the bra from me before scurrying away. I had a feeling he had just pictured me in it.

In the end, Scar walked out with a new jacket, a new pair of jeans, and a couple of hoodies. The new clothes she got for Electro Records was a knit sweater and some nicer pants. It looked really cute and went with her purple hair.

I stuck to the basics: white button-down, dressier pants and skirts, and a sweater overtop. It was boring and plain, but it was good enough for me.

"You guys ready to skate?" Scar called across the store as she paid for the clothes. River came wandering over after Bill and Ted walked out.

"Hey Riv," I said with a smile as I paid. Scar swung her bag over her shoulder and went to patrol the boys.

River slid a necklace onto the counter along with a bit of money.

"That's cute. Is that for your sister?"

River didn't talk until he paid for it, then reached around and hooked it on my neck. I froze up when he reached for me, confused.

"Nah. I saw it and thought of you."

"Oh... gosh... River...," I stammered. "You didn't have to!"

I felt it's heavy weight around my neck, and he smiled.

"I know. I wanted to."
