Introduction
I went shopping for groceries one morning, not long ago. As I stepped out of our vehicle, I had the thought that I really needed to be wearing a mask. It made me nervous that I was not, and that surprised me. Such a thing had never bothered me before. After several stores, I had purchased the items needed by my family and another family in the neighborhood. (I always ask the neighbors; since I'm out already and not as high risk as others, it only makes sense.)
When I finally got home, my precious grand-niece called me by video-chat. She was wearing an adorable mask made of pink material and indicated that her mommy (my niece) was making one for her little sister as well. As my little niece chattered away, I heard her mommy ask who she was talking to, so I complimented her on the masks. The conversation led to my niece sending me the pattern she'd found online, without my even having to ask! (Thanks again, Sweetie! You're a life saver.)
As always, I did some research before diving into my new project; I wanted to be able to do it properly, and use the correct materials. The internet yielded the needed information, so I mentally began planning my new project. Since I had a week before I'd need to venture out again, it wasn't much of a priority just then, in favor of other things.
Not two hours after my conversation with my grand-niece ended, my daughter (who is in the military, stationed across the country,) video-called me to ask for bandannas. The military suddenly required everyone to wear masks on base, but she didn't have any, nor did she have any way to buy or make them; the fabric stores are sold out! (Side note: this was why my niece was sewing; her husband is also in the military, stationed on a different base.)
My daughter knew that her dad had worn bandannas over his bald pate throughout her entire childhood, but she didn't know that he'd given them up after she enlisted. He didn't have any, but the bandannas aren't suitable anyway; they're not a tight enough weave. I set to work on the pattern that had been provided me just hours earlier. After some alterations to the pattern, I arrived at a workable, fairly simple creation.
That evening, I found out that the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention was recommending that everyone wear a mask when in public. Since the disposable masks are no longer available for purchase (reserved for medical personnel in hospitals and in short supply, there,) the CDC stated that people were to make their own.
Proverbs 3:27 says 'Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.' Only God could have orchestrated the day, and set it up so that I would be able to provide what we all need! Having done the research, I knew that the information I learned is vitally important for everyone to have. God urged me to share. May He bless you and give you His wisdom at every step! Please pass the word on; here are some easy masks to make!
