Ch. 1 - No Trouble Needed

I hate how I had to type this all out and it leaves behind three paragraphs...

I'm so sorry about this, forgive me!!!

"I see..."

"Yes. So are you willing to accept her into your school, Headmistress Mikagura?"

One of the two, now identified, figures looked up from her files. Tomoko Mikagura, the head and the principal of her school, Mikagura Academy, brought her hands close to her face, folding them together. "Your daughter seems very remarkable. It would be a shame to turn someone, like her, down. I would like her to take the entrance exam in one week, from today. Is that alright with you, Mrs. Ando?"

The second identified figure , Kaneki Ando, nodded as her answer to the question. "Whatever you decide will be fine. I am just happy that you took this opportunity to speak to me. Apologies for taking up your time."

"Oh no. Not at all," Headmistress Mikagura gave Mrs. Ando a warm smile. "Just please fill out a few paperwork, then once your daughter takes the exam, it will decide the final result."

"Of course. Thank you." Mrs. Ando reached for the forms that were handed to her before grabbing a nearby pen. She started to fill them out, immediately.

As she did, Headmistress Mikagura turned her head, slightly, towards the door that lead out of the Head Office. She coughed a small cough, catching Mrs. Ando's attention.

"I don't mean to make this sound rude, so please forgive me," the headmistress lowered her voice. "But will your daughter be alright? From what you've told me..."

Mrs. Ando let the question sink in for a second then laughed, "Oh, Noriko? Don't worry, I know she'll be fine." She glanced at the office door, knowing who was waiting on the other side. "She likes to cause trouble, but she doesn't mean any harm."

As if on cue, a loud crash and clang of metal rang from outside the office. The two of them exchanged glances and Mrs. Ando broke out into a series of nervous laughter. "Well, I don't think she'll do much harm. She's a good kid, I know that."

Headmistress Mikagura chuckled, "Alright. That's all I needed to know. Are you almost done the paperwork?"

"Ah! Yes, almost," Mrs. Ando scribbled in the last few words on the forms and handed them over. "So in one week?"

"In one week," Headmistress Mikagura nodded.

Mrs. Ando stood up, ready to leave. The two of them shook hands, then she approached the door, turning the knob to open it. "Noriko, I'm finished. Are you ready to go?"

"Huh? Oh yeah!"

From the Headmistress's seat in her office, she saw a twin-tailed figure, who she undoubtedly assumed was Noriko, walk up to Mrs. Ando, in the hall. She examined the girl and her posture, easily coming to the conclusion that her new student, indeed, will be causing some chaos.

The girl's eyes wandered and caught sight of Headmistress Mikagura. The Headmistress was slightly caught off guard. She did not think that Noriko would notice her, staring, since it would be considered rude.

Noriko let out a smile, bowing politely. "Thank you for allowing me the chance to join your school."

She was obviously a well-mannered child.

Mrs. Ando motioned for her daughter to quickly follow, giving Noriko one last chance to speak.

"And I'm sorry about your bench!" Just like that, the mother and daughter left.

Headmistress Mikagura blinked, trying to register what had been told to her. She stood up from her seat, making her way to the door.

The moment she stepped out, into the hall, the pieces finally formed the picture.

Outside the Headmistress's office door were two benches, in case someone were to wait in the halls. Apparently, one of the benches was a very old bench that needed to be thrown out. The bench was sturdy, despite how ancient it was.

"I can understand if it were this bench," the Headmistress murmured. "But how did the other one break?"

There once was a bench, as ancient as its counterpart, which broke, then was replaced by a new and modern bench. The new bench had been at Mikagura Academy for only two years and had been fatefully broke apart on this one particular day.

A girl, who sat on the bench, was bored out of her mind as she waited for her mom. Then, with no reason whatsoever, she delicately brushed her fingers against the bottom of the bench, coming in contact with a loose screw. The screw was her only amusement, until then, so she began to twirl her fingers, tightening and loosening the tiny object that supported her weight on the bench.

Eventually, the screw slipped through her fingers and fell to the floor. The bench collapsed onto one side, almost taking the female down with it. She caught herself before she could fall.

Despite what had happened, she seemed rather calm. She casually sat on the old wooden bench, as if nothing happened.

All she had to do was apologize, then be on her way.

No need to cause any more trouble.
