How to kill a Midnight Romance
Fate has come to its worst. Being dragged along to a 'spooky' halloween maze by Emily..Lily taking pictures with all the fake skeletons and Chloe experiencing all this for the first time. Two tomboys, Kelsey and April were wondering behind the other exited girls, wanting to be somewhere else. April wanted to be out of here-she hated scary things! And Kelsey wanted wanted to be at home playing video games. They then wondered off for what they believed was only a second and now they were somehow lost in that maze.
Kelsey pushed a scared April off her arm but she jumped right back to the other girl, hiding from the toy bats, carved pumpkins and darkness. "Why did I even agree to come here? I knew you were gonna do this." Kelsey sighed, letting her hair dance in the wind.
April pouted and held Kelsey's arm closer. "It's not my fault everything here is so scary!"
Kelsey pulled her arm away again, rubbing it lightly. "You know it's just cheaply made things made of cardboard and toothpicks."
The taller girl shook her head and let go of Kelsey's arm, not wanting to embarrass herself. She walked a bit faster and hid her blush. Out of all people, why did she have to be stuck with Kelsey? It was the person she liked.
April looked buck and saw her friend eating some snacks they got from trick-or-treating earlier. April looked at Kelsey again. She was dressed as a killer Japanese school girl. Her hair was out and her eyes sparkled in the moonlight. April turned around, her face bright red and started to walk faster. "I know you want to get outta here but walkin' faster isn't going to make finding the way out easier." Kelsey said with her voice filled with boredom.
"I-I know." April nodded and stopped walking.
Kelsey sighed and stopped as well. "I didn't mean to completely stop walking."
She noticed April was shaking a bit. "Listen..you don't need to be scared. You have me to fight off any monsters!" She giggled and gave April a comforting smile.
April shook her head. "I can do that myself!" She looked around nervously.
Kelsey smirked and pulled April into a warm embrace, protecting their bare skin from the cold October wind. April had a look of astonishment on her face.
"Being with you kinda makes me feel...a strange kind of happiness." Kelsey whispered.
April was flustered. "Heh..." They let go of one another and both of the girls smiled a bit.
"You know I love you, right?" Kelsey giggled. April's heart stopped and she hid her face. Kelsey panicked for a second and waved her hands around. "But as a friend of course!"
April looked down at the grass. "But if you like me more than a friend, that's fine with me.." She mumbled, placing a strand of hair behind her ear.
Kelsey frowned. "What did ya say?"
The green-headed kicked a fake bone out of her way as she started walking towards another twist in the maze. "I didn't say anything! Nothing at all!" She nervously laughed.
Kelsey grabbed April's hand and pulled their faces together, so their noses touched. "You are lying, I can tell. And I heard ya say something!"
Silence fell all around them. The wind blew leaves around and the moon shone brightly, casting faint shadows on all the objects the darkness touched. All the monsters were at rest in this moment. They stared into each other's eyes, waiting ever so silently for the other to say something. Fingers intertwined and faces together, they felt at ease. They felt contented. Still, a slight twang of loneliness swept through them.
"Say something! Anything!" Kelsey grunted. "And stop looking at me like that! Stop being so..beautiful..."
"I'm not beautiful!" April blushed and backed up against the maze wall. Kelsey pushed their faces together once again, still staring into the green eyes she longed to learn more about.
"You are so. You are the most beautiful person I've met. You are an angel. You are so perfect. You are my April!" Kelsey whispered, blushing a bit.
I'm her April... April thought. Her heart couldn't take this anymore. She needed to get this out of her system.
Without thinking, April leaned in slowly and put her own lips on Kelsey's. It was a short kiss as it only lasted a couple of seconds although it was the best thing either of them have ever felt. Their eyes fluttered closed and heat rushed to their cheeks. Their limbs became weak and their heats felt warm and fuzzy. This truly was the best thing ever.
Pulling away, they both kept their eyes closed for a couple of seconds. "That's what I said." April susurrated as she slowly opened her eyes.
Kelsey smiled, reached out to hold April's hand and rested her head of April's chest. "I'm glad."
Fate has opened its doors to happiness. The two girls stood there with their fingers intertwined and their beating hearts aligned. A cold wind traced along hair and bodies were pressed lightly against each other. This truly was a night to remember.
