"It's already lunch time, Sharma. You can stop working now." Vikram says or more like orders.

Kairav does hear what the man is asking him to do but he doesn't want to act on it. He is sulking the whole day away. Not even an angry order from his psychopath boss can make his sulking go away.

It hasn't been long since he knew the kid but he can tell that the kid doesn't like to shut up. If he could get a dollar for every time he spoke rubbish, he would be the richest man worldwide. So, it's not justified how the boy is totally quiet now. Something seems off about it. Now, there can be two reasons behind his silent treatment. The first one is that he wants to get on Vikram's nerve which doesn't seem unbelievable at all, the second reason is that he is upset about something. Surprisingly enough, he doesn't like the second reason that much.

"I'm talking to you, Sharma."

Why do I even care whether he eats?

The boy looks up with the most annoyed expression he can hold and says, "I'm not hungry, Mr.Arora."

Kairav must be high on something today because he finds himself going back to work. The lazy community will officially disown him now. But if only his brother could see his hard work. His eyes would come out of his sockets, that's for sure.

Kairav is just bored out of his mind. This arrogant jerk doesn't let him go to the toilet that often. He could surf on the Internet then. Even though he is hungry like there is no tomorrow, he will finish this stupid work and get done with it.

This boy really knows how to push Vikram's button. For the first time in forever, Vikram thought to treat the kid like any of his employees rather than a suspect but the kid isn't having it. However, it shouldn't make him angry. But oh, he is.

"It's a rule here to have your lunch at lunch time even if you are not hungry. So that you don't make mistakes because of being too hungry later on."

Kairav just gives him a "Dude, are you serious?" look.

"So, you are saying that I will have to eat because my jer……generous boss wants me to eat?"

"Yes." Vikram confirms.

"Is that your way of spilling the truth out of me?" Vikram raises an eyebrow at that.

"Well, fine by me as long as you pay for my food."

OK. Now this kid is getting out of hand. Vikram shouldn't have gone all out and made sure the kid ate. Vikram doesn't make sense right now. He should really do something to learn things but as of now the kid hasn't done anything suspicious. Even Vikram's hawk-like eyesight couldn't find anything. The boy is either too good at hiding or too innocent to anything suspicious.

"I didn't say anything about buying you food, Sharma."

"But you said I will have to eat. But I got no money on me."

"Fend for yourself then."

"Fine then. I didn't talk about having lunch. I can last a day without eating lunch. But don't blame me if I make a blank cheque 10 million instead of 1 million. Psychology says hunger is the prime reason why people make mistakes."

Vikram doesn't say anything. That kid has started speaking rubbish once again.

"If you don't want to buy me lunch then you can always share your homemade food with me." Kairav gives him a pointed look.

He noticed when a man came to give him a punch box. Seems like it's the same person who sent food that day as well. Kairav can hardly control his hunger as he has his eyes set on the lunch box.

"Sure, Sharma." Vikram says, surprising Kairav.

Kairav expected Vikram to throw a fit and refuse to share his food like earlier. It came as a shocker when Vikram nonchalantly agreed. Why is this man being so decent today? What's cooking in his head?

"Why did you agree so fast? Did you mix poison with your lunch?" He looks at the boss with skeptical eyes.

Vikram rolls his eyes before taking the lunch box and heading towards his couch. He sets a plate for himself and starts eating.

Well, he didn't die yet. So, Kairav assumes it's safe for him to eat. Therefore, he jumps on the couch, getting a plate for himself and diving into the heavenly food.

"Wow! It's delicious! Mr.Arora, your girlfriend has magic in her hand!" Kairav says in between shining food up his mouth.

Not hungry, my ass! He is eating like a pig.

Vikram ignores him once again. He should enjoy his food instead of entertaining the kid.

"You know my brother is a chef….oh, wait! You must already know that. But you don't know that his cooking is the best, do you? Even better than this one but it's still good." And he keeps going on.

"So, when are you gonna wife her up?" Kairav says, wiggling his eyebrows.

"Don't you know about table manners? You shouldn't speak with your mouth full of food." Vikram scolds the younger one.

"Don't you know common courtesy? When someone asks you a question, you answer them first." Kairav retorts back.

"It's not my girlfriend. It's my brother." Vikram says, giving up arguing with him.

"Oh. So, you have a brother who can cook too! Are you like me then? You know that day I almost burned the whole house down-"

"Shut up and eat. Don't make me smack you."

"You are not my brother though. Only he has the right to smack me." Kairav says, going further away from the man.

He gets enough smacks anyway. One day he will be brainless because of them.

"In that case, I will adopt you as a brother and then smack your head."

"Can you do that? Wait, if you adopt me then will I get some shares of your property, Mr.Arora? I want at least 10 million dollars. At least, you can do such a little thing for your little brother." Kairav says, showing his puppy doe eyes. He is clearly mocking Vikram.

I made a grave mistake by asking him to eat. Now he is eating my brain.

Vikram rolls his eyes for the nth time which finally sends a signal to the boy to stop talking rubbish. So, Kairav jips his mouth and returns to eating.

"Can I get that remaining piece of steak? You are not eating that, are you?" He takes the steak without even waiting for Vikram's reply.

He is unbelievable.

"So, you were saying you weren't hungry?"

"Don't you know the famous psychology fact?"

"What?"

"The more you eat, the more hungry you become. You should seriously check out "Psychology facts for freaks" on Facebook. You know nothing."

"That explains." Kairav's eyes get wider at that.

"That's exactly what my brother said! Are you sure you are not the long lost twin of my older brother?" He wiggles his eyebrows once again.

"I'm sure I'm not. And stop doing that."

"I'm full. Thanks for the food, Mr.Arora.It was so delicious that I could kiss your brother's magical hands!" Kairav compliments, flashing a bright smile.

Vikram keeps staring at the kid. His smile is contagious. You can't blame him for staring.

"He already has a person to kiss his hands so keep your desire suppressed."

"Aww, no! I was already thinking of changing my gender and clinging onto him for the rest of my life." Kairav rolls his eyes as he speaks.

"Get to work, Sharma. You still have tons to work on."

Why? Just why, God? What did I do wrong?

"There's another psychological fact for you. A person should at least take one hour of rest after eating something heavy like lunch or dinner."

"The choice is yours, Sharma. Finish your work now or do overtime." Vikram leaves the couch, without sparing a glance at Kairav who pouts.

Soon enough, Kairav drags his ass off the couch, cursing at his boss while doing so.

"And yeah, Sharma. You should know one thing."

"Yes?"

"As you are still in college, you need to attend some classes. So, I've decided to let you attend college on Wednesday and Thursday."

Kairav looks at Vikram like he is looking at a holy figure. All of a sudden he feels bad for cursing him.

"But-"

No. Don't let any but butt in.

"You have to work Saturday and Sunday instead of those days."

And he is back to cursing Vikrim inside his head.

"As the office is closed those days, I work from home which means you will work from my home on those days as well."

Wait, are you seriously kidding me?

"Mr.Arora, I'm your personal secretary, not housekeeper."

"Don't you want to attend college to have  the degree?" Vikram threatens.

"Of course! I will love to be there at 7 am sharp with your black coffee in my hand… oh! You need more than one cup. I will bring the whole coffee machine and yeah these freaking files too."

Sometimes the kid seriously amuses Vikram.

"Don't need to stress yourself. I already have  coffee machine in my home." Vikram replies sarcastically.

"Sure."

"And-"

"What?"

"Tomorrow is Saturday so I will text you my address. Be at 9 am instead of 7."

Wah! Like you did a great job on the human kind by reducing those thoughts hours!

"So, your work will finish at 7 instead of 5."

Never mind.

**********

The exhausting day has come to an end, bringing a sense of tranquility with the night breeze.

However, Vikram finds anything but tranquility. Even the quiet night sounds louder than bombs to his ears as worries slip into his already worn out mind.

Vikram parks his car in the garage of his home at around 2 am. It is after two days that he is finally at his home. He has been avoiding coming home as it reminds him of the cause of his worries. But he can't keep avoiding it forever. Keeping that thought in mind, he goes inside his mansion before unlocking the door.

It's a big house yet he lives alone. When Veer used to live with him here before his marriage, this big mansion felt like a cozy little abode. But now he meets with nothing but darkness and silence.

However, as soon as he turns the lights on, a figure, covered with black clothes, jumps on him.

"What the-" Vikram gasps. He should really tighten the security.

"Surprise, baby!" A cheerful male voice says.

Vikram releases a sigh of relief,  knowing it's none other than his idiotic best friend.

"Get off me, you fucker. You scared the shit out of me." Vikram says, pushing the body away from him.

"Aww, baby. You didn't miss me?" The boy is ready to hug him again but he kicks him away.

"Stay away from me. Even your smell makes me nauseous." Vikram makes a disgusted face while speaking.

"Why? Am I that hot that just my smell makes you pregnant?" Nilay jokes, trying to come closer to Vikram once again.

"Shut up and go wash yourself. I'm not letting anyone dirty stay over here."

"Roger that, your Highness." Nilay says, using a mocking tone.

Vikram still doesn't know how he became friends with this clown. While Vikram is the epitome of workaholic, he can be defined as the laid back guy next door. His only motto in life is to hook up with random girls and hack into others personal accounts to steal information. They have nothing in common yet they find themselves comfortable in each other's company.

As much as Vikram will like to have his only best friend with him, he can't. You see, Nilay isn't exactly a law abiding citizen. He does illegal hacking. His hacking doesn't stop to some lowly bank accounts only, he is more than that. A threat to the government even. That is why Nilay has to change his whereabouts every now and then, to stay on the safer side.

Vikram doesn't bother to ask how Nilay got in. Nilay must have already guessed that the password is Veer's birthday on the lock.

"I got you the best wine from Paris." Nilay exclaims.

"Alright, thanks. But did you get me what I wanted you to?" Vikram asks before loosening his tie and throwing his tired body on the couch.

"Of course, darling! How can I forget that?" Nilay winks.

"You know I'm not one of those chicks that you are after. So, stop with these stupid nicknames and give me that."

"Fine, Mr.grumpy. But I have big news for you."

"And what would that be?"

"All of the people in the list are dead. I mean all of them. Even all the housekeepers. Some were murdered while some were claimed to be natural which I doubt."

Vikram's head spins at the newly found information. What's happening? Why didn't he check up on them sooner? Priya also didn't say anything about it. She just talked about Mr.Agarwal.

On that ominous day, Nilay was present there with Priya. Three of them worked together to hide any evidence that could lead the case back to them.

"But Priya didn't say anything about it."

"Well, that happened. And the most suspicious thing is that all of them died just a few days after that night. Police had arrested some suspects but it was like they weren't doing their job properly. Most of the cases are unsolved till this day."

Now, everything seems messier than before. It's like the complication has increased tenfold. Till now he was thinking it was Mr.Agarwal's illegitimate son but now he isn't so sure anymore. The culprit can be anyone from any of their family.

"Things are getting out of hand now." Vikram says, covering his head with his hands.

He hardly has a week left with him. How will he solve the mystery?

"I think I will have to visit the central jail soon." Vikram informs.

"Why?"

"To meet the accused murderer of Dr.Agarwal. You said that police couldn't find other murderers in any of those cases. He is the only one who was caught. Maybe he can lead us somewhere. We need to meet him."

"Hmm. I do agree with you."

"Let me make a call to Priya first. I need some clearance."

Vikram keeps calling Priya but the calls remain unanswered.

"Why are you bothering newlyweds? It's one thing that you are never going to get married but let her have some fun." Nilay chides his friends, munching on chips.

"I swear to God, Vikram! Learn to take a hint. I was fucking sleep-"

"Priya, you told me that you searched everyone up then why didn't you tell me that everyone in that list is dead?" Vikram's concerned voice cuts her whining.

"What? What are you talking about? My informant said that only Dr.Agarwal was dead. Nothing else was suspicious." Priya says.

Vikram puts the phone on a loud speaker so that Nilay can also involve himself in the conversation.

"Well, Priya, you know I'm never wrong so you better believe what you just heard." Nilay says, still munching on the chips.

He will never learn to be serious, no matter how grave the situation is. Or maybe it's just his coping mechanism.

"Nilay? When did you come back?"

"A few hours ago. Anyway, tell me the name of your informer. I will have a chit chat with him"

"Mukesh bhutt."

"That bastard is a lazy ass. Why did you hire him in the first place, Priya? I'm sure he didn't even look into others."

"You know him?" Priya asks.

"What do you take me for? I didn't become one of the best hackers just by luck." Pride is dripping from his voice.

"I'm not letting that bastard go that easily." Priya mutters under her breath.

"Give him some kicks on my behalf." Nilay mumbles.

"So, what now?" Priya asks.

So, Vikram ends up sharing his plan with Priya who agrees with him.
