One would consider this color useless, but artists usually use white for a better shading which turns into a beautiful masterpiece.

So wait for your artist, and you'll be appreciated soon

IT WAS WITHOUT A DOUBT that the Karasuno volleyball club noticed Kageyama's giddiness.

The ravenette was usually stoic and would always have a scowl in his face.

Unless he'd act dumb again because of school but that's besides the point.

The point is, the aura that surrounded him felt lighter.

Hinata, Kageyama's duo, himself was the first to notice so.

"Why are you acting weird today..." The decoy murmured but was loud enough for the setter to hear.

"I could punch you if you want." He bluntly said.

The shorter male flinched and immediately went behind Sugawara by instinct. "Please don't!"

The mom of the group laughed. "Well, it's good to know that you're cooperating with us more Kageyama."

He only nodded and hummed in reply.

Although it may seem like he was all giddy, he was actually more nervous.

Because he asked his crush out on a date. And in addition, his chances of dating Y/N would be 100% if wins, according to her.

Kageyama honestly didn't know how he was able to survive that a few days ago.

It was all a blur, he couldn't think straight that time and his heart was pounding. But his words and hers were clear in his head.

Either way, he was more determined to give his best for the re-match tomorrow with Oikawa's team.

It was their second day of play-offs and Y/N promised she'd show up. Especially since she was unable to see their play firsthand on the first day.

"Are you all set for tomorrow?" Daichi, the team captain, asks with a grin.

They all nodded as they began to share their excitement (excluding Tsukishima obviously).

Kageyama, however, was dozing off.

Giddy he may be earlier, he had to process the realization that tomorrow would be the rematch.

Usually, it should be normal for him knowing that a match is near—since he was used to it even before.

Though now, he understood as well how critical it would be.

There were two results he'd get from this match.

One, he'd win and take Y/N out on a date, on their way to a happily ever after.

Two, he'd lose and be embarassed for the rest of his life and his chances to go out with his crush would be a negative billion.

He sighed loudly. It was a double-edged sword.

'I just wanted to look cool..' Kageyama thought to himself, mentally sobbing.

"Poor Kageyama, he looks like he wants to crawl into a hole and die." Nishinoya clicks his tongue in disapproval, shaking his head.

"Oi King, should I dig a grave for you or would you like to dig it yourself?" Tsukishima asks with a teasing face.

"Shut up. Leave me be. I'm ready to kill myself if we lose..."

Until Sugawara hit his back making the raventte wince. "Negativity begone!"

Hinata laughed and threw his fists to the air. "We'll do our best tomorrow! And Kageyama will get a girlfriend for sure!"

. . .

Tomorrow came and it was a warm and sunny day.

Karasuno's team walked into the stadium, chins up. Ready to join the nationals. But for now, their worry was still focused on their final opponent: Aobai Josai.

Kageyama was pumped up though.

Nervous he may be, he understood that it wouldn't get him anywhere. So he made sure to give it his best.

He ate a balanced and nutritious meal. Exercised and fortunately got a good rest even after chatting with Y/N last night.

Before entering the gym proper, the ravenette felt someone tug his jacket.

Pausing and turning around, he saw his crush, Y/N.

"L/N! You came." He brightly smiled.

She laughed. "I wouldn't miss this! I wanted to see how good of a setter you really are."

Kageyama smirked. "Watch me do serves. I'm great at them as well."

"Will do! Also, here. I brought you a little charm." Then she turned to her bag and took out a small Keychain.

Its form was that of a shooting star. And if observed closely, a written message could be seen.

"I wrote a something too." She smiled and handed the keychain to him.

The setter took it and took a closer look at it.

. . .

Chin up! You'll look more
like a handsome prince that way!
-Y.N.

. . .

Was what was written.

Kageyama chuckled, the color pink dusted in his cheeks.

His heart fluttered, inspired. Not because of the keychain but because of his own human charm, Y/N.

"Seriously? A prince?"

"You're lucky I chose that. I was this close to calling you a horse!!" Y/N showed her thumb and index finger close to each other.

The ravenette laughed lightly making the girl blush in a smile as well.

Though he hated being called a King, maybe a prince wouldn't be so bad if it was from her.

"Oi lovebirds!!" Tanaka yelled at them from afar.

"Hi L/N-chan! We gotta take Kageyama for a sec, we need to warm up now!" Nishinoya waved his arms.

Both turned to look at the libero; Y/N waved at them.

"Sorry!" She apologized, sweatdropping before feeling someone's hand hold hers so she turned to the setter.

"L/N, watch me?" He looked at her with a hopeful look while holding her hand.

She lightly squeezed back and nodded. "You know I will."

Kageyama smiled. Until he was taken a back when he felt her warmth coarse to him.

His crush was hugging him. And he instantly hugged back.

Y/N whispers, "Good luck. I'll be watching you from the sidelines."

Kageyama then pulled himself from the hug, just enough to take off his jacket and wear it on her.

The girl's cheeks bloomed red, looking at the jacket before locking her eyes back at the boy's.

Showing a small yet genuine smile, he tenderly replied, "Thank you L/N."

. . .

With the shooting star keychain chained to his bag and his star on the sidelines, he felt pumped up for the games.

Match by match, although it had twists and turns, the team of crows defeated them.

And within the waiting breaks for the preparation of a new match, Kageyama would find himself spending the block next to Y/N.

Talking to you helped him calm down so his coach and captain would just agree.

"This is your second day of play offs, yeah?" She asks him.

He nodded in response. "Semi-finals for the Spring Tournament. If we can get pass through Aobai Josai, that's one worrisome school down."

Y/N's eyes sparkled in anticipation. "That's great! So you'll be competing with other prestigious schools."

"Well, we still have to worry for our match with Shiratorizawa." Kageyama sweatdropped.

"It's wonderful to you know you all are bringing the name and pride of our school."

"I'm just glad I can continue playing volleyball." He sipped his milk box that Y/N gave.

"Great to know." She grinned.

"Kageyama! Let's go." Hinata appeared to fetch their esteemed setter making Kageyama nod.

"Oh! Hi L/N!!" The bright ball of sunshine hopped.

"Hey! You all were amazing out there. It was very thrilling." Y/N complimented.

Hinata half-laughed and half-sobbed. "It was hard!!" He whines.

Kageyama clicks his tongue before dragging the decoy away from her.

"See you later L/N." He glanced at her, waving a small goodbye.

She hummed, nodding. "Wish you luck!"

. . .

Just when their match was about to begin, Y/N paid close attention to the interaction between both Oikawa and Kageyama.

He told you how the brunette was his senior during his middle-school years and how strong of a player he is.

"I'm getting the chills." She sighs.

Meanwhile at the court, Kageyama and Oikawa were sharing glares at each other.

"Oi, Kageyama." Daichi calls him though the ravenette unintentionally ignores.

Just when he was about to knock some sense into him, Tsukishima held the captain back.

Wearing a sly look, he spoke, "L/N-san is a pretty lady. Wouldn't be a surprise if Oikawa were to ask her out if ever we lose~"

"Hah?" Kageyama wore a scornful look at Tsukishima.

Sugawara hit both boys, huffing. "Enough! Kageyama, if you want to win, listen to your captain and coach. Tsukishima, don't trigger the boy!"

After scolding them, they then began to talk as a team.

When the line up started and the whistled blew, it was a signal for the matches to begin.

Y/N opened her third milk box for the day, paying attention to their match tensing up when the opposing team would score but feel comforted when Karasuno's team would score.

"This is a rollercoaster of emotions." She chuckled, sipping her milk box.

She looked closely at the opposing team.

Oikawa really is a true monster at the court and it shows.

He was a good player, as well as a captain. The girl gotta give him that.

It was no wonder they were breaking sweat for this match.

While Y/N was busy staring in nervousness at Aobai Josai, she suddendly felt eyes darting at her.

Turning her head in directions to find the culprit, she looked down and her eyes were locked on Kageyama.

Her heart skipped a beat, E/C-colored orbs twinkled.

Look at me.

Is what his eyes mean to say.

Y/N bloomed pink, understanding the message and showed a small shy nod at him.

By then, she felt at ease. They'd win, for sure.

After what seemed like a long time, they were finally on their third set. Karasuno were at 25 points while Aobai Josai at 24.

"One more..." Y/N clasped her hands together, praying.

Sugawara served the ball, and they were fortunately in a good start, controlling the round.

From Iwaizumi to Bulldog, back to Tanaka then to Sugawara passing it to Asahi.

Y/N stood up from her seat, thinking it was the end.

Though Aobai Josai's Number 3 dived and saved the ball making the H/C-haired girl stiffen and purse her lips.

Be that as it may, their formation became messy giving Karasuno a chance ball.

That was when Y/N noticed Oikawa pointing at Iwaizumi, his partner. She felt the chills.

Showing how good of a setter he is, he passed the ball to Number 4 from a long distance.

And when it was what they thought it was over, Tanaka dived and received the ball making the girl let out a breath of relief.

Passing the ball frome one side to the other again, Kageyama prepared to set.

Making Hinata wear a look, ready to strike.

A spike in front of three blockers and their captain ready to recieve it from behind, what seemed to have unlikely gave them a point—was the endgame.

Y/N's eyes widened, her heart skipped a beat.

The ball dropped, and a whistle blew.

The crows won.

. . .

After finishing up the game proper, Kageyama looked everywhere for Y/N even if he was still chained to the court.

When they finally exited the court, the ravenette rose his neck when he heard a familiar voice.

"Kageyama! Congrats!!" Y/N exclaimed and ran to him.

"L/N!" The setter's face beamed in happiness, seeing her.

His arms wide open, catching and hugging her in his arms.

Both hugged each other longingly like two teddybears.

"Did you watch me?" He whispered.

She laughed. "You were so cool."

That was when Kageyama noticed Hinata and Nishinoya walking silently from behind Y/N.

The decoy slowly handed him a rose while their esteemed libero showed a sign, saying 'For Her'.

He could still remember the day they helped him; forever grateful will he be.

He nodded before he lightly pulled away from the hug.

Showing the rose with a shy blush, Y/N was caught off guard but she let out a laugh.

"F-for you..." He stuttered. "Not just this rose. The match earlier, I did my best for you too."

Y/N smiled tenderly. "You did your best for us—for everyone, actually. Thank you."

Kageyama returned the smile before he clears his throat and backed away before bowing to her, stretching his hand to the girl.

His team paid close attention, each of them bumping one another playfully in anticipation.

"Y/N, I like you! Please go out with me!" He shuts his eyes.

Cheeks dusted pink, she walks closer to Kageyama and held his hand making the raventte's eyes widened.

(A/N: Bowing and stretching your hand to someone is a form of confession in Japan, I believe. And when the receiver shakes/holds their stretched out hand, it means they reciprocate their feelings ^^)

He turned up to look at her, eyes twinkling.

Y/N nodded and laughed. "I like you too."

And that was enough reason for Kageyama to grin and hug her tightly again, repeating saying thank you.

"Thank you, L/N! I swear you won't regret choosing me."

She laughs, hugging back. "Don't get too excited, you still have to fight Shiratorizawa."

Kageyama paid no attention and just smiled. "Let me enjoy this moment."

Shouts and yells of joy were shared in the atmosphere of the team.

Extraordinary it truly is—how this all came from a website... WikiHow.
