|8- Screams|
Lloyd and I stood before Wu and the rest of the team of warriors, them having fallen silent after my recounting of the vision I had seen. Wu's brow furrowed and he paced about the room, considering the tale I had spoken.
"So Leila was helped by an Oni? There's only a few Oni we know about who are in ninjago..." Jay thought out loud, his eyes wide and ginormous.
"My mother, I assume." I spoke up for one good Oni we knew to be in Ninjago during that time.
"And my father." Lloyd stiffed as if startled by his own words. I took his hand in mine in support as he spoke agains, turning to his teacher. "Was my father able to help her when this happened? Was he under Chen at this time?" He asked, seemingly genuinely curious.
Wu pondered for a moment, recounting in his head the timeline of past events. "Perhaps. This was during the time after your father left Chen. There is a possibility that this is the work of your father."
"Well that's great. Our worst enemy's sister trained by our other worst enemy! Could it get any better?"
"Don't jinx it, Jay." Kai grumbled and elbowed his friend.
I turned my gaze from the bickering two and back to Wu. "I also assume that we do not know where Leila is or what she is planning?"
He nodded grimly and I frowned.
"Otherwise I would have suggested we bring the fight to her rather than waiting for her to attack first this giving her the upper hand." I pulled my eyes down to the ground as I thought. "She must be planning to come for us soon."
There was nothing much else to do rather than wait for the first move to be made. The canine had been released and roamed around freely, no longer a subject of Leila's programming. The day bled into night and the moon rose far above our heads, warm and bright. Each warrior was on high alert, ready to face whatever may come upon us.
I sat perched on the steps leading to the upper deck of the ship, not daring to sleep on the slim chance that I could be of use. Yet still, I rested my head against the side of the ship, the gentle rocking on the breeze lulling me into a light sleep.
My eyes snapped open, a blaze of purple, as the shipped pitched to the side and tilted suddenly. I stood, my eyes finding Lloyd's, alight with a panic led green, before he and the rest of his team ran over to the side of the ship to see what had happened. I leaned awkwardly to one side as alarms blared and Nya muttered a curse under her breath.
"She's here."
Our ship was tossed about and rocked as giant canines the size of the one I had turned lurched onto the deck, their weight throwing the ship off balance. I managed to steady myself and slipped to the side as one lunged for me. Sounds of clashing metal met my ears as the wolfdog I had turned growled at its counterpart, snarling and rolling in a duel of metal dogs on the floor of the ship. Before me, the warriors each fought to throw the dogs overboard and keep our ship from falling low in the sky from the weight they brought aboard.
As something thudded behind me, I froze before managing to steel my nerves and spun around, not prepared for what I would come face to face with.
"Leila." I breathed and before me she stood, tall and terrifying. Her arms and legs were completely mechanical, long black hair passing her waist and a snarling metal wolf mask held her face. Under the mask I saw her eyes, full of anger and rage, uncontrolled and unchecked.
Lloyd was quick to run in front of me and sweep me behind him, holding Leila at the edge of his sword.
She didn't flinch or seem phased by the show of aggression from Lloyd or the rest of the warriors, who each glared daggers at her. Instead, she spoke as if it were a casual day, putting each of us off our guards. "Dare I say, you have a very lovely ship." Her voice was silky and smooth yet she had a bit of a lisp. Her piercing eyes found mine as she continued. "It is an honor to meet the saviors of Ninjago." She swept an arm out and bowed before us and Lloyd took a step back closer to me.
"Why are you here?"
Though we could not see her face, I imagine she smiled, a sticky sweet smile which made my skin crawl. "Oh dear green ninja, I have come to see my master." She flicked her head about and her eyes widened as she found Wu, who had just wandered up on the deck.
"What do you want from me, Leila?"
"Master, it is a pleasure to see you again, as I'm very sure you would say the same about me." She tilted her head to the side and Lloyd shook his.
"What do you want?"
Her gaze snapped from Wu to Lloyd, quick and sharp. Slowly, she stepped closer to us and I rested my hands on the green warriors shoulders, pulling him back slightly away from her.
"If it isn't very obvious, and if it's not I deeply apologize," she laid a hand on her chest and took another step closer. "I want- no, no. Sorry. I am going to kill each and every one of you." She lunged forward, her metal arms grabbing Lloyd by the throat and holding him far above our heads. I screamed, reaching up for him as he gasped and choked and clawed at her metal hand to make her let go. "Because you've been tainted by the ways and teachings of that idiotic and hateful Sensei of yours." She tilted Lloyd to the side, studying him as if he were an insect. I clapped a hand over my mouth and reached for him with the other hand, wishing and hoping I was far more brave, brave enough to try and save him.
My blood froze inside of me as her gaze fell on me, purple eyes lighting up and showing my fear.
"Starting with these two Oni, who didn't carry on the legacy of those before them."
And she threw Lloyd down, slamming him on the deck.
