|4- Midnight|
I stood beside my newfound friend, Jay, as Lloyd cast a glowing green glare my way before looking up to the screen to his right. I followed his gaze, eyes lingering on the screen as the blurry footage slowly came into a visible focus.
Zane stepped forward, pointing as the picture focused and zoomed in to what we had been summoned to see. My cheeks flushed a bright pink as I felt my eyes flash purple. I gripped the table in the middle of the room, propping myself up and quickly diverting my gaze.
Zane drummed on in his explanation, though I had missed the first portion of what he had said. "...just on the outskirts of Ninjago City. My analysis of this creature says that this is some kind of mechanical canine. We have not seen technological advancements like this since Borg's attempt at nindroids." He finished and spun to face us. Meanwhile, I pushed all my strength into composing myself and just barely managed to pull myself upright.
A staggering breath in and I brought my eyes up to meet Zane's, who flashed me a smile. I glanced around the room, each warrior pondering and thinking, Lloyd's gaze finding mine. I watched as he narrowed his green eyes and I let out the breath I did not realize had been held captive in my lungs.
"I believe I have seen this kind of creature before." I held his gaze, pushing my weight to the table, which I still held onto desperately. Lloyd cocked his head to the side as I continued on. "I believe I saw the same kind of creature in my vision."
Every head at once turned to me if it had not been there already. I found Wu's gaze, finding solace in the gentle smile he gave me to continue on.
"What do you remember?" Cole questioned, leaning his arms forward on the table.
Out of habit, my gaze fell to the ground and I shuffled my feet, shifting my weight. A nudge in my side from Jay made my eyes go wide and I looked to him as he mouthed "eye contact" at me with a very pointed look.
With great effort, I turned my gaze to Cole and my shoulders fell. "I am sorry to say I do not remember any more than I have already shared with you."
My head spun with possibilities and I shook it softly to clear my mind. Frustrated sighs echoed in the room and I cursed myself for not being more useful. I winced as I heard Lloyd scoff.
Again, my head reeled and my legs shook beneath me. My gaze snapped up to Wu's, eyes turning alight with a flare of purple. My chest aches as my breathing went rapid and I struggled to push words out of my chest. Next, my gaze flitted to Lloyd's, who's own eyes had gone wide as he lunged forward to catch me as I fell backwards into a vision.
My eyes cast upwards at the bright half moon, which shone brighter than the stars surrounding it. Before me, a quiet night, as crickets chirped and clouds passed by, eclipsing the moon into darkness. Dread seized the night as a small girl with black long hair hobbled up a tall, winding staircase. Along side her was a boy of similar age and hair of similar color. He was slowed as he reached to help her up the stairs, her movements awkward and restricted. When she stumbled and fell, he was there to pull her upwards, higher and higher.
A temple placed atop the hill shone with promise for the two, but as they came up to the doors and knocked, there was no answer.
I gasped and reeled forward, smacking my head against Lloyd's, who must have been bent over me. He pulled back from me as I heaved up nothingness onto the floor, stomach doing flips and heart pounding in my chest. I recoiled from the touch as someone placed a hand on my back. Slowly, I found my breath and sat back on my feet, rubbing my face with my hands. Around me, silence as each leaned forward in anticipation.
Eyes averted, I turned and realized they were all waiting on me to say something. I held my breath and pulled my arms over my stomach in some pseudo-hug.
"Are you okay?" Beside me, Lloyd asked, and as I looked up to meet his gaze as I had been instructed by Jay, I saw a gentleness in his eyes I hadn't seen before.
A slow nod and I was ready to speak. "I saw two children, a boy and girl, whom I can only assume were siblings, walk up to a temple seated on a hill. The girl seemed to be disabled of some sort as she was slowing the boy down. Yet still, he helped her." I paused, closing my eyes tight before continuing on. "I sensed something horrible from both of them, though they both seemed to be so innocent."
The warriors each sat back and chewed on what I had just revealed to them. Suddenly, all heads turned to Wu, who held his head in his hands. Cole and Kai ran to him, each on one side, balancing their teacher. I shared a worried glance with Lloyd and Jay, who seemed just as confused as I felt on the inside.
"Sensei, what's wrong?" Kai questioned as he and Cole helped their teacher sit on the floor near the rest of us.
He slid to the floor in a sit before pushing the two off him with a huff. "I was afraid this would come back to bite." He let out a long sigh and ran a hand quickly over his face. "It seems though we have dealt with Morro, we must now deal with his sister."
"Woah woah woah, Sensei. First you didn't tell us you had another student who turned out to be an evil spirit and now you tell us he has an evil sister as well?!" Jay demanded, his voice rising an octave.
A flash of green caught my attention from the corner of my eye. Lloyd's eyes shone a vivid green, his expression that of fear and worry. I held my breath and placed a hand on his like Mother would do to me to help root me in the present rather than the past. He quickly yanked his hand from under mine, not turning to look at me.
Wu continued and began weaving a tale for all of us to hear. "Morro was my first student, yes, but his sister Leila, had far more resentment and anger flowing through her veins than he ever did..."
