INT. BACKSTAGE – NEXT NIGHT

Sophie meets up with the drama club. Sebastian starts a round of boos. He hisses at her.

SOPHIE

I deserve that. I'm sorry for making you look bad on your opening night. Instead of listening to the wrong person, I should have listened to myself.

GRACE

(singing)

We accept your apology. We believe in the real Sophie.

SEBASTIAN

I guess I did kind of like the new rewrites. I always thought it could use a tinge more crazy.

Jackie enters.

JACKIE

Places everyone. The show's about to start.

The performers exit onto the stage.

SOPHIE

Even though I may have severed all chances of us being friends, I hope you can forgive me.

She starts to walk away.

JACKIE

Why'd you do it?

SOPHIE

I was sick of being the girl who got laughed at, or the girl everyone overlooked because she didn't talk enough. I wanted everyone to see me for me. I thought Scarlet was helping, but instead she ruined my chance to finally have real friends.

JACKIE

That is the longest I've ever heard you speak. I'm sorry for making fun of you. We never meant to hurt your feelings. Honestly, I was hoping we were becoming friends too.

SOPHIE

Do-over?

She offers her hand. They shake on it.

JACKIE

Do-over. And for future reference, Scarlet only has one friend for a reason.

SOPHIE

Point taken.

JACKIE

Hang backstage with me. Friends get the best seats in the house.

The lights dim.

INT. STAGE – CONTINUOUS

The show starts with the dance routine. Sebastian and Grace hold hands.

SEBASTIAN

(singing) You glorb the glorbiest woglorb my glorbs have glorber seen. Yet, our glorb will glorber be. Curseglorb your wickglorb stepglober, Scarlet.

In the audience, Scarlet frowns.
