INT. BECKER LIVING ROOM – LATER

Sophie dries her hair with a towel. There's a knock on the door. She answers it. Jackie stands in the doorway holding How to Fail.

JACKIE

You left this behind.

Sophie takes it.

SOPHIE

Thanks.

JACKIE (CONT'D)

Why'd you run off?

SOPHIE

I entertained the crowd enough for one night.

JACKIE

You have to admit the landing was kind of sweet.

Sophie is not amused.

JACKIE (CONT'D)

How are the subtitles going? Need any help?

SOPHIE

I'm almost finished, but the language isn't that hard to understand. It's just English with "glorb" in every other word.

JACKIE

Sebastian wanted to have the full opera experience. Thanks again for helping us out.

She frowns at her hair.

JACKIE (CONT'D)

You missed a spot.

She laughs and exits. Sophie exits into the kitchen.

INT. KITCHEN – CONTINUOUS

Sophie enters and sits at the table to work on her laptop. Courtney, in her football uniform, and Scarlet snack at the island.

COURTNEY

Hey, don't sweat it, Soph. People get embarrassed all the time. Like the time I was practicing my kick and my shoe hit Robbie in the face.

SOPHIE

That doesn't count. He asked you out right after you broke his nose, so technically that's a win. Everyone loves you no matter what.

COURTNEY

Everyone would love you too if you gave them a chance.

Cole enters through the back door.

COLE

You might want to come out here. They're playing catch the running back and some of these guys should not have made the team.

COURTNEY

You guys are training without me!

She exits. Scarlet peeks at Sophie's laptop.

SCARLET

What are you working on?

SOPHIE

I'm helping the drama club with their musical.

Scarlet takes a seat.

SCARLET

I agree with Courtney. You could be so much more if you stopped hiding in your litter box. In fact, I'm going to take you under my wing.

SOPHIE

You'd do that for me?

SCARLET

Sure. But mostly because I feel sorry for you. Get ready to introduce the world to Sophie Becker 2.0.

Courtney reenters.

COURTNEY

When the paramedics get here, tell them to come out back.
