Eye

I've had a lot of people ask me how I do realistic eyes, so here I am to show you!

Rating: 5-6 ish/10

Materials:
Something to draw with (I'm using pencil and I think pencil works best)
Paper
Something to blend with (maybe, if you want, I just use my fingers or a kleenex sometimes)

1: start with the tear duct/corner of the eye thingy
It's just a half circle!

2: add the top and bottom of the eye shape
Remember, every eye is different and it can be any shape you want! The shape can depend on the person's facial expressions as well, so if the person is angry, the eye will be squintier, if the person is surprised or scared the eye might be wider. You choose! If you are struggling, just do the basic football or almond shape, that seems to help.

3: lightly shade the tear duct and eye in general
(Sort of optional)

4: add the circle in the middle of the eye
Again, doesn't have to be perfect and it depends how open the eye is for the size of it.

5: add the pupil
Just a circle, literally. You choose the size of it!

6: do the outside of the pupil
The iris? I swear it has a name I just can't brain right now. This part depends on what you like really, I just do some lines varying in size coming out from the pupil, but you can do shading as well. Whatever works for you!
Note: make sure to add a highlight (a lighter space in the eye), I find it makes it a bit more realistic.

7: eyelashes
Ok, now honestly, this is the part I struggle with the most. Eyelashes are difficult to do, and hard to explain in words. It's kind of a circular up down motion that I do. You can make the eyelashes long or short, thick or sparse, it depends on the eye!

8: eyelid
The eyelid is just a bit of shading, kinda like a rainbow over the eye. Figure out which direction your light is coming from to see which parts of the eye should be darker. You may have to darken the eyelashes again.

9: eyebrow
Eyebrows also really depend on the person, but I like to just very, very lightly sketch the general shape and then fill it in with small strokes. The eyebrow is generally just a little bit longer than the eye. Eyebrows also depend on expression, so they should be lower and scrunched if the person is angry, higher if they are surprised, and so on.

10: final shading!
You can shade where the light hits, where the nose is, under the eye, etc. Or, you can leave it! It doesn't need to be shaded. If you are using pen or marker, cross hatching is good for shading.

And you're done! You can add other details, or the rest of the face, or the other eye, or whatever you want! Have fun with it!
Tell me your results if you try it? Also feedback on how I did with this is always welcome, and requests! I think I'll do how to draw noses and lips next.
