Now that you've found the perfect person/thing to obsess over, it's time to get educated even further. What do you find appealing about them? Is it their beautiful face, fabulous personality, or are you just a nut for them? No matter the reason, now that you've found what you love, it's time to start Obsession High School.
First things first, find the tools you have to work with. One of the most vital items for learning more about your bae, is the Internet. Whether you were an internet freak before or if you barely ever use it, it's time to start the search. You know what your going to be using the Internet for? Google. We're all familiar with Google, I assume, so I won't go into full depth.
Now you're probably asking yourself, where do I start? Good places are news websites, Wikipedia, Fan Fiction, and basically any website that has anything to do with your fandom. By using these resources, you'll be able to learn about the persons childhood, present life, interests, and so much more. If your fandom involves objects, then you'll learn lots about that too. Just don't get too carried away, you might hurt yourself or your electronic device-depends which gets thrown out the window first.
Another thing to take into consideration is pictures. Pictures are easy to find nowadays using the Internet. Just type in your fandom and enjoy the ride. Hundreds of thousands of photos. You might think they'll never end, but trust me, they don't.
Now, if you don't have Internet or any way of accessing Google, then I don't know what to tell you. Go to the library. They should have something. Right?
Another thing to take into consideration is fanart. Fanart is artwork done by fans, pretty self explanatory right? I feel fanart really takes you into the depths of your fandom and other people in your fandom. Just remember, fanart you find could be really beautiful, detailed and amazing beyond belief, but sometimes you get some pretty horrible ones. Though this happens, I'm sure you will find some decent pieces that make you extremely question your own art skills.
With my obsession of Taylor Swift, I started out not really knowing anything about her. All I knew was that I loved her music. Then, as I got older and started using the Internet more, I started learning more about her life and personality. The same thing goes to the Cars fandom. I wasn't a merchandise freak when the movie first came out. I didn't even know what Pixar was, but through time I gained more and more knowledge and now it's out of control.
The same goes for my friends. With K-Pop, there are many things to know. One thing is knowing the names of all the group members. Trust me, I hardly know several in some of the K-Pop groups I love, but I'm learning. It's all about time. The more time you spend with your fandom, the more educated you'll be.
This brings me to the subject of dedication. If you aren't dedicated to your fandom, then what are you thinking? If you know you don't really enjoy the fandom you're in, then just stop. Get something new. Don't make yourself miserable just because your best friends are in a fandom you honestly do not prefer. Get to understand each other's fandoms. Your friend may not show as much interest as you in your fandom, but I'm sure they will give you support about it. Right?
Back to dedication, there are some people out there who have been a part of a fandom for years. I know because I've been in the Cars and Taylor Swift fandom for almost 10 years. The funny thing is, it doesn't feel like it's been that long. I feel people who have been in fandoms for years, are going to be with that fandom for a long time. It seems like a waste to give up all that obsession after so many years.
Another way to get educated, depending on who you fangirl over, is movies. If you fangirl over a famous actor or actress, then watching their movies or TV shows can really help with your obsessing. Then you can really learn, if you haven't already, if they are a good actor/ actress. Watching their shows can help you further understand what it is about that person you really like. Is it their acting skills or their looks? That's what you will find out after watching several of their movies/TV shows.
Now that we've covered ways of researching, you can now look up information whenever you want. Even better, just keep looking up things about them everyday. When the searching starts to reach the point where you can't go an hour without looking up something about your obsession, you will then reach the next step.
