Chapter 10: Fanfiction
Let's discuss something that is very important in the fangirl world. Of course, everything I've told you so far is pretty important, but this one thing is an essential item. Fanfiction.
What is Fanfiction, you may ask. The term is basically self explanatory. Fanfiction is a website where fans write fictional stories about their fandoms.
There are other apps and probably websites where you will find Fanfiction. One of the apps is called WattPad. This app is a free app that is the Fanfiction website, basically, but I feel WattPad has gained great popularity. I have an account so I can read stories my friends write. Many of them involving Koreans and K-Pop.
When looking up stories on whatever app/website you use, you will find some interesting things. I read many stories involving the Cars fandom and some topics are very interesting. I've found some of my favorite authors over the years and I always try to stay up-to-date on their story updates and new stories they produce.
Fanfiction stories have many types of plots. Some stories are sad, romantic, funny, weird, and possibly not too good. I've found stories over the years where I think to myself, these people need help with grammar. I understand a few spelling errors every now and then, but sometimes the mistakes people make in grammar in their stories, is hilarious. That's why I also enjoy the bad grammar stories as much as the stories I read that are good.
I'm sure when becoming a fangirl and looking for some Fanfiction that you will find your fandom. The amount of fandoms are insanely large and it's hard to not find one story in your fandom. The fandoms involved range from Harry Potter to My Little Pony and even Twilight. Fanfiction has it all. All you have to do is go online and find it.
Some people read Fanfiction every once in a while, but I know several people who stay up all night and read. I feel Fanfiction is a way to get people to read more. I've seen it happen with several of my fangirl friends. All day they read, talk, and breathe Fanfiction. It's part of their daily schedule, I assume anyways.
That's why many people seem to be on Fanfiction more than reading actual books. Fanfiction is now your library. It's a place filled with magical stories and things for you to obsess over and cry about.
Trust me. My friends have been known to cry over Fanfiction.
Although reading more is a good thing, sometimes I think it is unhealthy for my friends. I know, I'm also a victim for reading lots of Fanfiction, but I don't cry and scream over it. My friends, on the other hand, are insane. Everyday I have them texting me and telling me all about this new Fanfiction they're reading. They'll text me things like, "I'm crying!", "I'm dying!", or "I'm going to throw my whole body out the window!" I'm not complaining. I think it's hilarious and I get a good laugh out of it, but they are my friends. It is my duty to make sure they don't throw their whole body out the window.
Now that we've learned about Fanfiction, there's another important part of fangirling we need to discuss. The whole idea of shipping.
