Chapter Five

I parked my car in one of the parking spaces at the mall and pulled out my phone. I tapped on messages and found Audre. I clicked on her contact and called her.

Ring, Ring, Ring.

The high-pitched noise irritated my already anxious mind. "Pick up, Audre." I grumbled, upset now that the adrenaline had worn off. I waited until the fourth ring for Audre to pick up.

"Where are you?" Her voice reverberated in the phone.

"I'm in my car, where do you want to meet?" My voice was gruff and annoyed.

"I'm outside, right in front of Madame Kitty's Cafe." She giggled at the name, but I didn't. I ended the call and jumped out of my car. I walked down the empty parking lot, the street lamps shining down on me, just like the spotlight when I'm on stage. I kept my head down, fighting the wind as it tried to push me to the ground. I dragged my feet along the smooth pavement, my hands stuffed into my jeans. "Sophia!" Someone called out. I snapped my head up, finding Audre running toward me.

"Hey, Audi." I joked as she reached my side. "Let's go in."

"Have you posted the selfie, yet? You did take a selfie, right?" Audre threw questions at me, while she pulled out her phone to check.

"I'm going to post it when we're sitting in the cafe." I told her, pulling the door to Madame Kitty's Cafe open. "Should we get something to eat?" I walked to one of the window tables and pulled out a seat. I examined the cafe, it was very pink, but the walls were almost completely glass, but there were only a couple window tables.

I pulled my phone out, tapping on the Instagram app. I posted the picture with the caption,"How To Be Perfect; Challenge #1 Completed. I learned that sometimes, you have to break the rules."

"If you're hungry." Replied Audre, putting away her phone.

"Not really, but look out the window." I smirked, noticing a group of guys from our school walking into the mall. I got up and grabbed Audre's hand,"Let's go." I winked, knowing she wouldn't want to hang with jerks. I pushed in my seat and dragged her to the store the boys were heading in.

"I hate you." She grumbled, like a child. I laughed and pulled her behind a clothes rack. "Oh! I know! Let's find you a new outfit!"

"I already have enough." I punched her shoulder,"But, we can find you some outfits." She nodded and we were off, going through clothes faster than a child eating chocolate. I pulled out a black shirt and a pair of black skinny jeans. "What about this?"

"I already have that." She shook her head and pulled out a pair of blue jeans. "I think I'll get these." I followed her to the cashier as she paid for the jeans.

"Hey!" Someone called out,"Sophia!" I turned around only to see the group of guys from before. I smiled sweetly and waved.

"Hey, guys!" They walked over to us and we walked out of line.

"So our Sophia's a rule breaker now, huh?" I laughed at his comment.

"Maybe." I wiggled my eyebrows jokingly, everyone laughing. "We were just leaving, but what're you guys doing here?"

"Just hanging out." Replied the brown haired boy in front of me, his dark brown eyes holding mischief.

"Don't get yourself in trouble, Michael!" I called out as Audre dragged me away from them. "Can we go home, now?"

"Yes." Audre rolled her eyes and let me go when we reached the outside of Madame Kitty's Cafe. I gave her a small hug and thanked her, before we went our separate ways.
