The oboe is the main instrument of the seven others that I play. It is a double reed instrument ( it needs a reed in order to make sounds) similar to a clarinet but it's keys have smaller holes. They are part of the woodwind group and are quite rare. An orchestra usually only needs 2 or 3 oboists but some are lucky to even have one. Beginners typically sound like ducks or farting noises.

Ways to annoy Oboists:

~ Ask them if they are holding a clarinet

~Tell them that their oboe reed looks weird (it actually offends a lot of oboists)

~ Every time they play start quacking 🐤

~ When a beginner oboist plays, say loudly "Eww who farted? It was probably the oboists"

~Ask them if their oboe is a large recorder

~Set a flock of ducks free during an oboe solo

~Ask a oboist who has a wooden oboe if the have a cheap plastic one. (Beginners usually use plastic oboes whereas professionals tend to use good quality wood ones)

~Ask if the oboe is actually a saxophone in disguise. (I was asked this once when I was on tour with my orchestra at a school, I was highly offended, but forgave the kid)🎷

~Imitate an oboe player

~ Sing:
Old MacDonald had a band eya eya yo!
On the band he had an oboe eya eya yo!
With a quack quack here and a honk honk there, a quack quack everywhere!
Old MacDonald had a band eya eya yo!
