(Natsu's P.O.V)

The rain was pouring when I reached Lucy's door. Wendy insisted that I should go talk to her or at least comfort her from the three years of torment. But, Erza and Gray tried to talk to her but she didn't even react to them, so how will I help her if they couldn't?

I knocked on her door with the three tiny taps echoing in the hallways. It felt strange to knock on a door, especially so gently! "Luce? Is it alright if I come in?" Now I'm asking for permission to enter? What the hell is wrong with me?! And why am I even asking if she can't reply?! Nice going Natsu! My hand dragged over my scalp in frustration before slowly opening the door, seeing a very dark room with the balcony doors wide open. Lightning fell in the far distance that lit the room for a moment.

Lucy was in a chair with her wings tucked between her, she was wearing a white gown without any sleeves and ended at the top of her knees. Her hair was still down to her knees but was put into a braid to make it easier for her to walk. She was looking over the cloudy day with the city of Aria being poured down by rain and the green trees swivel from the harsh winds. Lucy stiffen when she heard the squeaky noise of the door opening.

"Luce?" I whispered hoping she heard me. The room was dark and the air felt heavy with my chest growing heavier by the second from breathing the air in here. Teral was sleeping on the bed with tear stains on his white and brown fur. I glanced back to Lucy who was standing with her wings all the way to the floor making it drag. Her figure was small and frail from the lack of food she's hasn't eaten and her eyes...

Her eyes were clouded and dripping blood taking the place of tears, only Lucy didn't seem to care about it even though it was on her gown. "Lucy!" I ran over and picked her up. "It's a curse isn't it? Are you hurting at all? Do you need me to get Wendy or Adroath?" Lucy continued to stare at me in amazement, like I had another head or third eye. I set her down on the bed and quickly went to the bathroom. I grabbed and put a white towel under the faucet making it wet with hot water.

I returned and kneeled in front of Lucy with her still not taking her eyes off of me. I started to dab the towel against her cheeks gently as possible. "You know Luce, crying blood isn't normal right?" I slightly chuckled hoping she would at least smile at my stupid comment.

She didn't.

My eyes went to her hands that was also covered in blood. I wrapped my hands around her wrists and also began to clean them softly. When I finished I found her face again with her still looking back at me. I searched into those clouded eyes to find so much pain hidden in them with her needing to scream it all out, but she couldn't even if she wanted to. Gravity took over my eyes and forced me to face the ground with my hands still holding onto hers. My teeth clenched with my vision becoming blurry from something.

Drip...

Tears. I could no longer hold them when seeing Luce so broken. All I wanted to do was hold her while she cried away her problems with my warmth soothing her to a peaceful sleep. Her hands found my cheeks and made me look back up to face her. Lucy's thumb caressed my check making butterflies jump all around my stomach. But I still didn't see her smile.

"What can I do to make you happy Luce?" I asked while finding one of my hands go up to hers. Lucy eyes went back to the balcony over to where the outside world was. Does she want to go outside? I picked Lucy up in a bridal position and made my way to the balcony where the rain continued to pour down. "Do you want to go outside Luce?"

Lucy placed her hand on my chest with her eyes closing. A sudden memory flashed in my head of a cliff where a willow tree stood out of all the color and most beautiful trees were laid. Lucy wants to go to the cliff. My childish grin spread across my face. "I know exactly where you want to go Luce. We'll be there in no time!" Lucy wrapped her delicate arms around my neck for support and protection. She made her wings fold up to where I could hold her back without worrying about her wings. I jumped off the balcony with my laughter following us along the way. "I actually can't believe you allowed me to do that!" Lucy turned red and hide her face in my vest from the embarrassment.

The cliff was in western area moving away from the center of Aria and Lucy's you can say 'house'. Plus the rain wasn't helping at all with me trying to find my way there. Eventually, I made it with me and Lucy almost running into a few trees by accident or nearly falling over by rocks.

"Here we are Luce! Your little Willow Tree and cliff!" Lucy put herself down with her wings protecting her from the rain. Lucy walked over to the edge and stood there without ever moving. The sun was completely gone with the rain raining much harder before. I went over to her to see her eyes closed with her lips curved ever so tiny upwards.

There's my smile.

Without realizing, my hand found hers with our fingers intertwined with each other. I sighed and glanced back at Lucy. "You know," I began before looking away. "I made a promise to you that I would never let you go,but that was broken when we reached the EarthLand realm. So, how about we make a new promise?" Lucy turned her head to me with her eyes beginning to shine again. I put my pinkie out for her with my grin plastered across my face. "Let's have each other's back even when we're not on missions! I'll protect you, and you can protect me! Deal?"

The rain slowly started to grow quieter and quieter becoming nothing but a small drizzle. Lucy smiled widely with her pinkie laced around mine, closing in our promise to each other.

"It's a deal, Natsu." Lucy whispered with a hint of happiness.
