covens, packs, and what else

this isn't necessarily something people do wrong but rather a few of my own theories that i would like to share with like-minded fans of the shows

now, i have a very weird memory. while i cant remember what i had for lunch yesterday,  i can remember random scenes from TVD or TO

and one that really stuck with me was early in season 2 of The Originals where Klaus goes to talk to the resurrected witch Cassie (whom unbeknownst to a lot is actually Esther in possession of the poor girl's body). She starts to talk about how witches and werewolves were at peace with one another but then came the vampires.

CASSIE/ESTHER: "Long ago, the witches and the wolves were at peace. Then came the vampires-- a plague made flesh, a curse on this earth. You have no humanity, and so you punish those who do. Witches have a coven, werewolves have a pack, and so we are a constant reminder of everything that you have forsaken. Creatures such as you will always hate the living, and so we will always have to defend ourselves. The rings level the playing field. If we are united, nothing can stand against us."

What I took from that is basically she's telling him that vampires dont have a group to rely on, they don't have their version of a pack or a coven like them.

And well I thought that was bullshit.

Witches have covens.

Werewolves have packs.

Vampires have families.

And honestly, we actually see a lot of examples of this in all three shows.

The Salvatores, a pair of brothers willing to die for one another.

Anna and Pearl searching for each other even when dead.

I especially remember in season 2 when we're introduced to Rose and Trevor.

(and yeah i totally went off and made a gif about them because this moment stuck with me forever and confirmed my 'vampires have families' theory)

Hell, the first vampires ever made are a freaking family, the Mikaelsons, the Originals, etc etc.

Then you've got Lily Salvatore's weird heretic family mess.

Marcel looked after his vampires as though they were his family, loved them each as his own and mourned them heavily when they died.

but his is a special case, because while vampires form families with other vampires, it's shown that they can also form family with non-vampires

Like his adoptive daughter, Davina. (and yes he did adopt her, that is canon, look it up on the tvd wikia)

And for those watching Legacies, you have the developing familial relationship forming between MG and Kaleb. Kaleb promised to look after him after MG almost died of a werewolf bite and was rejected by his father all in the span than 24 hours.

other mentions:

- Lexi and Stefan

- Tristan and Aurora de Martel

I honestly really like this touch even though they never outward say it or speak of it.

And again, while there are some families that are together because they're related already, some do form over time like Marcel's, Rose and Trevor, the Heretics, or Kaleb and MG.

If I missed any vampire families please let me know.
(i didnt include Katherine and Nadia because at the time Katherine was human)

And did anyone ever think of this before?

Like did anyone notice it or am I just reading into it way too much?

Nah.
