Chapter 7: An Old Enemy (EDIT!)
-No One's P.O.V-
It was a beautiful morning as usual, everyone is up on their feet, and ready to make it through the day's challenge!
Right now, Rem was heading off on her own because she was going to report to Sylvie and Celestine about the last night's encounter with Prince Keera.
Alicia went back to Galford to report on the situation yesterday.
Diablo was teaching Shera how to make healing potions in the Inn.
Leafa and (Y/N) were heading off somewhere on their own to kill some time.
(Y/N): So. What should we do today since Prince Keera is trying to make peace with the humans?
Leafa: I dunno. Maybe we could do a quest?
(Y/N): Nah, we're level 150. We could just easily one-shot monsters to get the rewards.
Leafa: Good point. Hmm....Maybe we can go to training?
(Y/N): Training?
Leafa: What? We never tried training before despite our level being 150.
You think about it for a few moments until you made a decision.
(Y/N): Despite having level 150 of our own, I guess training won't be that bad.
Leafa: Yeah. We didn't really train since day one. We can always rely on our level 150 power, but without training, who knows what kind of enemy we face in the unknown?
(Y/N): Hehe, that's a good point. However, where would we train?
Leafa: The outside of the city will have to do. I mean, we don't want to cause any chaos around in the city.
(Y/N): Good point.
And just like that, both you and Leafa exited the Faltra's gates to find a place to train.
-Mini Time Skip-
A couple of minutes later, you and Leafa arrived in a forest with a huge open space with a river.
(Y/N): Ooh, this doesn't seem bad to train out here.
Leafa: Yeah. But before that...
(Y/N): *Nods* Mm.
You then looked behind you because you felt a familiar Fallen mana energy that is following you and Leafa.
Leafa: Come out of hiding! We know you're following us!
Leafa calls out to the Stalker as the two of you waited for about three seconds until you see a familiar facing coming out behind a tree.
(Y/N): It's you...! Edelgard, was it?
Edelgard: Yes. And hello again.
Edelgard greets you and Leafa in her usual monotone voice.
Leafa: It's nice to see you again, Edelgard.
Edelgard: *Nods* Mm.
(Y/N): I've heard that you were badly damaged after surviving Diablo's White Nova back at the Bridge of Ulug.
Edelgard: That's correct. I'm fully recovered for now.
Leafa: I see. What brings you here? Don't tell me you're asking for a rematch against me.
Edelgard: No, not you.
Leafa raises her eyebrow in confusion until Edelgard pointed her staff towards you.
Edelgard: I haven't fought your friend back at the Bridge of Ulug.
(Y/N): *Realizes* Wait, you followed us just for a spar?
Edelgard: Yes.
You let out a sigh before speaking up.
(Y/N): Alright, fine. If it's a spar you want, it's a spar you'll get.
Edelgard: *Nods* Mm.
Leafa: Oh well, guess I'll be the referee then. Get onto your fighting positions.
Leafa says as you and Edelgard onto your fighting positions apart from each other.
(Y/N): So, would you like to me hold back or go all out?
Edelgard pauses for a moment until she spoke up.
Edelgard: I can tell you have the same strength as that elf over there. I want you to hold back while I go all out.
(Y/N): Alright, if you say so.
Edelgard: Wait.
(Y/N): Hm? Are you changing your mind?
Edelgard: No. You're not using a weapon in this fight.
(Y/N): I don't need a weapon. My hands will have to do it for me.
Edelgard: Hmm...my opponent uses his own hands against a spear lady? I'll take this challenge.
(Y/N): Heh, don't disappoint me.
Leafa: Fighters ready? Begin!!
Leafa commences the battle as you and Edelgard charge at each other and exchanges with each other's blows before backing off.
Edelgard continues charging at you and does a couple of thrust attacks, but you easily saw her attacks and dodged them effortlessly until you dodged one of her thrust attacks before following up with a palm strike onto her abdomen, sending her flying back, but Edelgard makes a quick recovery in mid-air.
(Y/N): Come on, I know you can do better than that!
You said with a teasing smile on your face while Edelgard grits her teeth as she continues to swing her spear at you at a fast pace.
(Y/N): (Huh, she's getting a little faster than the last time Leafa had encountered her. ) *Dodges another attack* (Or perhaps is it just her agitation?)
You thought to yourself while continuing to dodge Edelgard's attacks.
(Y/N): Your attacks are still not hitting me. Is that all you've got?
Edelgard: I'm not finished yet!
(Y/N): (Hmm...I wonder how long she'll last in this fight?)
-Mini Time Skip-
Your sparring with Edelgard lasted for about two and a half minutes and she didn't even land a single attack on you, despite that you were literally holding yourself back against her.
You looked at Edelgard who is kneeling on the ground and was heavily panting with sweat down her body.
Leafa: I think that's enough sparring for now.
Leafa says, trying to stop the spar between you and Edelgard.
Edelgard: N-No...Not...yet...
Edelgard struggles to stand up with her spear supporting her as if she still wants to continue sparring.
(Y/N): Hey, you're gonna pass out if you keep pushing yourself. Take it easy.
You tell her in a concerned tone in your voice until you and Leafa see Edelgard collapse to the side out of exhaustion after struggling to stand up.
You and Leafa ran up to her aid and see that Edelgard passed out due to exhaustion and was faintly breathing.
Leafa: Sheesh, so much for our training.
(Y/N): Well whatever, we 'oughta put her under the shade of a tree.
-Mini Time Skip-
5 minutes later, Edelgard's vision was very dark until she heard the sound of a flute playing on her right.
https://youtu.be/ap_p_ER_JvE
Edelgard: (Huh...is that a flute..?)
Edelgard thought to herself as she slowly opens her eyes and sits up straight.
The fallen elf blinks her eyes a few times and sees that Leafa was meditating while (Y/N) was playing the flute.
Edelgard was a bit mesmerized at your flute performance until you stopped playing the flute, looked up at her, and said...
(Y/N): You're finally awake.
Edelgard: Your flute...it's quite relaxing...
(Y/N): *Nods* Mm.
You hummed until Leafa stops meditating and opens her eyes to see Edelgard.
Leafa: How are you feeling?
Edelgard: Just a bit recovered from our spar.
Edelgard answers with the same monotone voice.
You then put your flute away as it magically disappears in thin air and said to Edelgard...
(Y/N): You pushed yourself during your spar with me, causing you to pass out.
Edelgard: Sorry.
Leafa: Your attacks and speed are still the same as ever since you and I fought back at the bridge a couple of days ago.
(Y/N): Have you not been training?
Edelgard pauses for a moment before responding with a...
Edelgard: No, I have not trained. Even though, I have grown strong to call myself the strongest lancer of the Fallen because of my skills.
Leafa: I see. But still, if you're ever going to defeat us one day, you'll need to train hard.
Edelgard: Hmm...I'll try that.
Edelgard says until we hear the sounds of her stomach rumbling. The Fallen Elf's reserved expression turned into a slightly embarrassed face as she holds her stomach.
Both you and Leafa giggled at this until you spoke up.
(Y/N): Want to get something to eat?
Edelgard: Y-Yes...
Leafa then summons out a wooden bowl in her right hand. Next, Leafa held out her left hand, summoning a few pebbles onto her palms.
Leafa then places the handkerchief on the ground before putting the pebbles on the bowl.
Edelgard: You're...feeding me with pebbles...?
(Y/N): No, not exactly. Watch this.
You used your index finger from your right hand and said...
(Y/N): Turn these pebbles into cookies!
You used your skill Food Beam and fired a pink laser beam onto the pebbles, immediately turning them into freshly baked cookies.
(Y/N): Alright. That's done.
Edelgard: Whoa, what did you do?
Edelgard asked with a surprised face.
Leafa: That's a skill called "Food Beam". (Y/N) can be able to turn objects into food.
Edelgard: Turn objects into food?
(Y/N): Yeah. I can pretty much turn anything into food just on something that crosses my mind.
Edelgard: That's...pretty cool.
Edelgard says with awe until she looks at the cookies that were in Leafa's bowl.
Leafa: Go on, eat it.
Edelgard looks at you two before taking one of the cookies. She observes it for a few moments before taking a bite out of it
Edelgard chewed the chunk of the cookie before swallowing it. Her eyes widen a bit before saying...
Edelgard: Tastes really good...
(Y/N): Of course. It's a sweet biscuit~!
Edelgard: I know a few biscuits, but I've never seen this kind of biscuit. What's it made out of?
Leafa: Well, it's usually made out of flour, sugar, egg, and some type of oil, fat, or butter. You can include it with other ingredients to add deliciousness to it such as raisins, oats, chocolate chips, nuts, or anything. Think of it as a quick snack to your likening.
Edelgard: I see. You have such different tastes in food.
(Y/N): Any food is good except for bad cooking.
Leafa: But anyways, let's enjoy ourselves for a snack break.
You, Edelgard, and Leafa enjoyed yourselves eating cookies under the shade of a tree.
The three of you exchanged some small talks about topics and such until Edelgard spoke up about something...
Edelgard: Can I ask you two something?
Leafa: Feel free.
Edelgard pauses for a few moments until she asked...
Edelgard: Why are you two being so kind to me?
You and Leafa looked at each other before one of you responded back to Edelgard.
Leafa: Well...we don't know ourselves...
Edelgard: You don't know?
(Y/N): Yeah. We don't know that we're being nice to you. However, we did tell you to keep training hard to beat us, and we even gave you food because you were hungry.
Edelgard looks down and stays silent for about 3 seconds until she said...
Edelgard: I don't understand why you two are being nice to me when my kind had a goal in mind to kill the humans in Faltra.
Leafa: Well, we have our own conflicts nowadays.
Edelgard: I see.
(Y/N): Also, there are some people that they have hoped that bad guys have some good within them as long as they don't cross the line of their own morals. However, that doesn't come off as easily if you fight with your inner self.
Edelgard: . . .
Edelgard stays silent until she finishes eating the last cookie.
Edelgard: *Stands up* Anyways, I have to take my leave for today.
(Y/N): Are you heading back to your kind?
Edelgard: Yes. As you two said before, if I want to beat you both, I have to keep training.
Leafa: Hehe, we'll be looking forward to seeing you getting strong, Edelgard.
Edelgard: *Nods* Mm. And...thanks for the cookies.
Edelgard then starts walking off into the forest, but she stops and looks back at you two for a moment before continuing to walk away.
Leafa: She quite something isn't she?
(Y/N): Yeah. Anyway, we should head back to the Inn and see if there's any news.
Leafa: Yeah. We didn't really train because Edelgard asked for a spar.
(Y/N): Let's not make a fuss about it.
And just like that, you and Leafa packed up your stuff before heading back to Faltra.
...
(A/N: That's that! Stay tuned for more!)
