Day 7 pt 2

Grian declared time up. Everyone stopped building or sabotaging as Grian declared time up, looking over what might've been 4 sandcastles.

'Let's all vote on one sandcastle that isn't our own.' Cub suggested 'Martyn, you want to start?'

'Yes! This is...'

'The shore-teau.' Joe explained. A few snorts of laughter, before looking down at a small mound with a far larger moat and maybe a wall.

'It's... certainly made of sand.' Was the closest Grian could come to positivity. 'Next?'

'Welcome to Schweep Castle!' Bdubs signalled to what did almost resemble a castle, albeit small and half-knocked over. A few nods of appreciation.

'Grian? What have your team of professionals made?' Zedaph quickly turned attention from the mess of sand in his group's section to the closest thing to a castle there.

'Yes, this is ᓭᔑリ↸ᓵᔑᓭℸ ̣ ꖎᒷ Sandcastle!' Grian signalled at what was far less impressive than what they'd intended to make, but still had recognisable castle-ish features and was larger than everyone else's. Martyn - who could understand galactic - laughed.

'Sandcastle Sandcastle?!' Scar nodded, pleased with himself for coming up with it. Everyone turned to ZITS'S castle.

'Uhh... this is our...'

'Welcome to mess castle.' Skizz crossed his arms, staring at the pile of sand 'It's a mess because EVERYONE ABANDONED IT!'

'You have NO PLACE TO COMPLAIN SKIZZ!' Protested Impulse. 'You were yelling at Tango for AGES! And Zedaph wasn't helping either!'

'Hang on... I was TRYING to-'

'Is time up?!' Jimmy called as he and Tango arrived again.

'You missed everything.' Joel grumbled. 'Grian's team wins.'

'Do we?!' Everyone nodded at Scar's question.

'But- but you haven't judged Caspar Castle yet!' Tango insisted.

'Caspar Castle?!'

'Come on!' Everyone followed, confused, down to where Tango and Jimmy had been the whole time.

'Caspar Castle!' Tango declared, at what he'd made with Jimmy. It didn't look great, but was somehow better than the others.

'Can we vote for this?'

'I mean... I vote for it.' Cub shrugged.

Votes were recast, and Caspar Castle ended up winning. Happy, the group all headed to get lunch out the van, after the arduous task of removing the sand they were all covered in. And, as lunch ended, Cub had the next activity planned too '

'I brought boules.' He held up the set of coloured balls. 'We split into... perhaps slightly different teams.' A glance between Tango and Skizz on opposite sides of the room. 'And we take it in turns, in those groups, to roll one of your team's coloured balls so it's closest to this cue ball. Does everyone understand and... want to play?'

'Yeah dude! Let's go!' Ren bounded to his feet, the others following. The team changes were quickly decided - Tango and Joe swapped - and colours were picked. Cub rolled the cue ball first across the sand. Scar was first to throw the ball and...

It landed around 8 metres from the cue ball.

'Dang it!' He laugh-cried, hiding behind Pearl, watching Martyn's far more talented roll, then Etho, and finally Joe. Scar was the only one would couldn't boule correctly, which everyone laughed at until Pearl rolled their group's second ball until it was touching the cue ball. Joel replied by sending his ball rolling far away. Ren was close, but still missed. It was all down to Zedaph, rolling his team's second ball and...

'YES!' He yelled as it hit Pearl's, sending it rolling as far as Scar's ball did and winning the round. It continued going on, until it was Jimmy turn to throw the cue ball.

'Try and hit... THIS!'

He yeeted the ball as far as he could.

Completely out of sight.

'TIM! Why would you DO THAT?!' Grian snapped.

'You BLOODY IDIOT TIM!' Joel agreed.

30 minutes of searching later, they gave up, resigning to quit the game until Bdubs grabbed his socks, filled one with pebbles, covered it with the other sock, and decided to use that as a rudimentary cue ball. So the game could continue until Scar, still not completely well, decided to have a lie down, commentating for a while longer until falling asleep. By this point, Etho, Bdubs, Ren and Doc's team were far in the lead and quickly declared the winners before Cub whispered.

'Pit! Now!'

'Why?!' Jimmy whispered back. 'What's going on?!'

'We're burying Scar!'

'On it!' Grian ran off to get the previously-banned shovels. Cub started digging in the hole he'd made gathering sand, others joining him. Except Bdubs, who was focused on the socks he'd used for boule.

'I CAN'T WEAR THESE!'

'Shhh!' Grian scolded before bursting out laughing as he realised what used to be Bdubs's socks were now full of holes.

'Oh no!' Etho stopped digging. Joe looked up from inside the hole they'd made.

'To be holey honest with you, we're more focused on this hole.' He commented. Glancing between Scar, still asleep, his socks, and the pit, Bdubs chucked his holes with a bit of sock in them aside and helped again.

It didn't take long to create what had accidentally become more of a grave than a hole. But Scar (thankfully) hadn't woken up yet, staying asleep even as Doc carried him across the beach and lowered him into the hole.

'We gather here to mourn the loss of great friend and even greater accident-causer, GoodTimesWithScar.' Cub began to laughter. 'Rip Scar. We will miss you.' He pushed a whole lot of sand onto Scar's legs.

'Scar was accident-prone and chaotic.' Grian started his own elegy with, 'But he was funny and a good builder too... Farewell, Scar.' He pushed his own sand down too. The elegies continued until Scar's face was the only thing unburied.

And he woke up.

'What's... why can't I move?! What in the world?!'

'Rest in peace, my friend... Rest in peace.' Cub continued as though nothing had happened.

'Am- Am I being buried alive?! Cub! Grian! No!'

'Guys...?' Cub was too busy laughing to hear Martyn.

'I'm sorry, buddy. You were a great person and builder.' Skizz stared down at the helpless Scar  'You just weren't as good at living...'

'Guys we have a problem...' Jimmy joined in with Martyn's concern.

'What is it?' Grian looked over, and stopped at the sight of the concerning close ocean.

'The tide's coming in.'
