What to write

"Alright everyone, have a good weekend, and remember, next week we have Dan Povenmire coming in to take a look at your work, so if any of you have a story you've been working on that you would like to show Mr. Povenmire, now is the time to finish it." The professor reminded the class as they gathered up their books and began filing out the door. Candace Flynn haphazardly followed the crowd of other students out of the class, but her mind was still on what the professor had said about Dan Povenmire. Shaking herself from her thoughts Candace remembered that it was lunch time. She made her way to a small deli just outside the campus, where she always met Jeremy for lunch.

She walked into the bright, bustling deli and found Jeremy sitting in their usual corner booth. As she sat down in the red leather booth, Jeremy greeted her with a smile and then told her he already ordered for both of them (he always knew what she liked). Before any conversation had time to start, Jeremy's cellphone rang. He apologized and picked it up; and as he talked Candace slowly fell back into her thoughts about a story to show Dan Povenmire. After about five minutes Jeremy got off the phone and noticed Candace staring blankly off into space.

"Candace." He said, but got no response. "Candace." He said again, a little louder.

"What?" Candace said, startled.

"What's on your mind?"

"Oh nothing, there's just someone coming to my writing class next week and I was trying to think of a story I can write to show him."

"Who is this guy?"

"He's a cartoon writer and producer, and he's gonna read our stories and talk to us about them. You know, give us tips and stuff."

"Why don't you write a story about your brothers, they used to do some pretty cool stuff."

"Yeah, that was a pretty interesting summer, I guess I could write about that. Which one of their projects should I write about?" Jeremy thought about it for a minute before responding,

"How about the first day of that summer, when they built the roller coaster?"

"Sure, thanks Jeremy."

"No problem." The waitress arrived at their table and set down a corned beef sandwich in front of Jeremy and a crispy, oozing grilled cheese sandwich in front of Candace.

They both dug into their sandwiches and Candace, having decided to write about her brothers, changed the subject to that of wedding planning. Preparations were almost finished for their wedding that summer, but there were a few more things to nail down. Soon lunch was over and Candace and Jeremy said goodbye and headed back to class.
