Moment of Truth

Candace was both nervous and excited, even though she had little doubt that her brothers would say yes she still couldn't help being the tiniest bit nervous about their answer, this would be the moment of truth to determine whether or not she would make a TV show. She grabbed her purse and jumped in her car but before she left she decided to call Farb to make sure it was still okay for her to come over. When he picked up the phone she immediately said

"Hey Ferb it's Candace i'm just calling to make sure it still okay that I come over."

"Absolutely, we don't have any plans today so you should be good."

"What? Ferb Fletcher and Phineas Flynn have no plans!" Candace said in her best astonished voice.

"Well that's not entirely true, Phineas is drawing a blueprint for a tiny robot and I'm reading a book about advanced quantum mechanics."

"Really? Advanced quantum mechanics? Can't you read a normal book like Moby Dick or The Wizard of Oz?"

"Frankly I'd much rather be reading one of those books but this is for a school assignment."

"Oh, well i'm in the car now so i'll see you in a bit."

"I can't wait to see you, bye."

"Bye."

Candace put her phone back in her purse and pulled out her keys, she started the car and began driving down the road. In no time at all she turned onto maple drive and the house she still referred to as home came into sight, she pulled into the driveway and hopped out of her car, she made a quick decision to head for the back gate rather than the front door because she assumed on a day like today that's where her brothers would be. She unlatched and pushed open the gate, and sure enough Phineas had his drafting table set up under the tree and Ferb was leaning against the tree reading a book. When the gate creaked Phineas (who had his back to her) said

"Hi Isab-" he stopped mid-sentence when he turned and saw her, then exclaimed "Candace!" Before jumping up and running over to hug her, Ferb followed close behind. "Candace what a cool surprise, why are you here?" He let go of Candace and stepped back so they could see each other

"Ferb!" She said accusingly and stared down her green haired brother, she didn't like coming unannounced, he shrugged innocently then candace said "please tell me you at least told mom I was coming" Right on cue the back door slid open and Linda stepped outside.

"Candace! It's so good to see you, why didn't you tell me you were coming." Linda said as she walked over and hugged her. Candace glared over at Ferb who began whistling and walked away slowly.

"I told Ferb I was coming, I assumed he told you guys. I came to talk to the boys about that thing I told you about earlier this week." Candace replied to her mother

"Oh that's right, well you guys go ahead and talk, i'll bring you some snacks in a minute." With that Linda retreated into the house

"Thanks, mom," Phineas said then he turned to Candace, "talk to us about what?"

"Well," Candace said while she walked over to the tree and sat down, the boys did the same, "I wrote a story for my writing class about the time you guys built the rollercoaster. There was a guy visiting my class who read the story and said he wanted to make it into a TV show, but since it's about you guys I need your permission first." when Candace finished talking it took less than two seconds for Phineas to respond.

"Wow that's soooo cool, of course you have our permission." Ferb nodded in agreement and gave her a thumbs up with both hands.

"Thanks guys you're the best," she said giving them both a quick hug, just than Linda came into the back yard carrying a tray of snacks, she handed the tray to Phineas and the three of them dug into the snacks. After a minute Candace broke the silence by saying, "So where is Isabella, I would have expected her to be over here by this point in the day?" Phineas's expression became visibly sadder when he heard the question.

"I don't know, she doesn't come over every day anymore like she used to." Phineas said without his usual enthusiastic tone of voice. Candace knew them well enough to know that Phineas being sad was definitely a big deal, as was Isabella not coming over every day to see him. She made a mental note to talk to Isabella, but for now she was going to enjoy the day with her brothers. Phineas had walked over to his drafting table and took a look at his blueprint, Candace and Ferb followed him over and when Candace saw the blueprint she asked,

"What's that Phineas?" Phineas looked at Candace and smiled, his usual excited self was back.

"It's a tiny robot that can go inside your body and perform operations so that doctors don't have to do surgery to fix internal problems."

"A tiny robot oooo Phineas you are soooo.........sweet for trying to help people like that." Candace said imitating her younger self, Ferb gave a little chuckle and Phineas laughed.

"Thanks Candace." he said and then went into a very complicated explanation about all the technical stuff involved in building it. Candace spent the rest of the afternoon talking and laughing with her brothers, they went to the mall and got ice cream, and Candace even stayed for dinner because she couldn't pass up the opportunity to eat mom's tacos. Finally it was time for Candace to leave. Before heading back to her apartment, she stopped across the street at the Garcia-Shapiro's house, she rang the doorbell but there was no response, she would just have to call Isabella tomorrow.
