Carmen was laying down on the couch watching reruns of Full House when India walked in with Iris. She put her keys on the table as she sat down next to Carmen.

"Well you could at least tell me to move first." Carmen said as she sat up.

"Where Steven?" India asked.

"Upstairs, we not talking right now, again." Carmen rolled her eyes.

"Oh lord why this time?" India asked.

"Because I wanted to eat my peanut butter, with grits and he hit the roof. Like okay, it's my body let me eat what I want to eat. So now he mad at me, because I ate my grits and peanut butter in his face." Carmen pouted. India shook her head and laughed.

"Have y'all heard from Derrick?" India asked. It has been a week since Derrick left India house, to see about the girl who was possibly pregnant by him.

"Nope." Carmen said.

"Oh, I was bored home, Iris and I was just in the neighborhood. So I can by here." India said.

"Girl it's fine, I haven't been doing anything anyway." Carmen said.

The door open and Derrick came in with bags, and a cake in his hands, and papers in his mouth. He sat everything on the table and walked to India.

"Are you ready to be my girl again?" He asked her, when he remove the paper from his mouth. India looked at him.

"Is the baby yours?" She asked him.

"Just answer my question first." Derrick looked at her, as Iris reached for him. He picked her up.

Steven came downstairs and look in the bags like they were his to look in.

"Why is there so many Kool-Aids and cake on my table? What we celebrating?" Steven asked as he went to walk over to them.

"I'm trying to ask India something." Derrick said.

Steven nodded. He walked back upstairs to get his phone. Carmen made him so mad this morning, she always eating peanut butter, but complaining her stomach hurting all the time.

India took the papers out Derrick hand. She started smiling when she saw the results. She dropped the papers and rushed in Derrick arms. She hugged him one sided as Iris looked at her parents.

"Now we celebrate. My bad it took so long to get here, I been in jail." Derrick said as he walked over to his Kool-Aid boxes.

"Jail?" Steven and India said at the same time.

"Uhh yeah, I got into with the girl baby daddy, she been fucking me and him at the same time. His big ass going to confront me on it, instead of his girl. So you want to know what I did?" Derrick asked them.

"What you do?" Steven asked.

"I kicked his tall ass in his knee and poked him in his damn eyes. He had me fucked up. So since I hit first I went to jail. I'm glad his big quarterback ass didn't press charges though. But yeah that was my week." Derrick shrugged. "Who wants cake?"

"I do!" Carmen yelled and rushed over to Derrick at the table.

"Well okay." Derrick said and walked back over to India. He kissed her.

"Aww, ain't y'all back cute. Now y'all can pick your lips up, and be happy." Steven said.

Carmen rolled her eyes at him. Steven glared at her back.

"Why every time we good, y'all arguing? Aye y'all want to babysit tonight, catch my hint?" Derrick asked Steven and Carmen.

"I'll watch her, I need all the practice I can get." Carmen said as she cut her piece of cake.

"Cool, thanks Car-Men." Derrick said as he open his Kool-Aid pouch. "I miss these. I didn't drink anything in Jail, niggas tried giving me water, I didn't want that shit. I was dehydrated for a week. Once I got discharge from the jail house I went to Wal-Mart." Derrick said.

"Who picked you up from jail?" India asked.

"I called my mom and told her not to tell you, wanted to surprise you." Derrick kissed her neck. India giggled, and kissed him back.

"Umm how about y'all get out here, and do what y'all do and I have the baby." Carmen grabbed the baby from Derrick, as he wrapped his arms around India and kissed her deeply.

"I hope she's on birth control!" Steven yelled out.

"Yep I am." India said as Derrick grabbed her hand and grabbed the Kool-Aid bag off the table. He left the cake though. They walked out the house. One minute later Iris diaper bag was thrown in the house.

Carmen turned to Steven as Steven walked back upstairs.

"You acting really childish right now, but it's cool though. Don't try to talk to me later. With your moody behind!" Carmen yelled after him.

"Blah blah blah." Steven said.

Carmen looked at Iris.

"I don't know what wrong with that crazy man." Carmen said to Iris. "Let's see if your mother packed you some apple sauce. I know you hungry. We can't have you drinking Kool-Aid like your daddy. We about to get you some water." Carmen said as she walked in the kitchen with Iris on her hip.

The front door open and Mama Lorraine came in with a fruit basket.

"Carmen!" She called Carmen name.

"I'm in the kitchen mama!" Carmen yelled.

Mama Lorraine walked in the kitchen.

"Oh you have the baby today, I guess that other girl baby wasn't his." Mama Lorraine said as she sat the fruit basket down.

"It wasn't." Carmen said.

"Where Stevie?" Mama Lorraine asked.

"Upstairs." Carmen said.

"Oh lord, you two must be arguing again." Mama Lorraine rolled her eyes, as she hold out her hand for Iris to come to her. Iris just looked at her with her first in her mouth. Carmen hand Iris to Mama Lorraine as she looked in the fruit basket.

"Yes we had a small argument, because I wanted to eat peanut butter with my grits this morning." Carmen huffed as Mama Lorraine frowned her face up.

"Umm you are so weird, but I can understand your cravings, but peanut butter and grits. Wow." Mama Lorraine said as she bounce Iris up and down. She's still a small baby. It's very hard to keep weight on her, and India was scared to give her baby formula, so she just been sticking to her breast milk and baby food.

"It was so good though. Can I ask you a question?" Carmen sat down at the table taking a watermelon from her fruit basket.

"You just did, but go ahead." Mama Lorraine laughed.

"Is it normal for someone like me to love so deeply so early in the relationship?" Carmen bite into her watermelon.

"Someone like you?" Mama Lorraine looked at Carmen in Disbelief.

"When I was younger I watched my mom bring men into our home she shared with my father and I. My mom brought a man in there while my dad was home, and my dad went crazy. My mom lied and told the police my dad abused her, but my dad never touched her in an abusive way. One of my mom last fiancées  tried to rape me also, but my dad came just in time and killed him right there in front of me. He was sent to prison for life. I heard he was jumped in jail and got murdered. He was the only person I could talk to with ease. Then I met you all, and you filled up that hole in my heart. But I still feel like I'm broken. Like something is missing. I just feel like I'm never going to be safe again." Carmen said.

"But I love Steven so much, he remind me so much of my father. And I feel like my father brought him in that day to save me from my mom fiancée. I owe him something. I give him my heart, because he saved me and he grew on me. I love him." Carmen finished as she got emotional.

Mama Lorraine was crying too.

"It's okay to feel the way you feeling, because you been through so much so young. Your dad has been on your side for so long now, and he's still by your side. So yes it is normal to love someone like you. You are perfectly fine. You just been through so much while growing up, but you are good." Mama Lorraine told her.

"'m trying to be, but in the back of my mind, I'm scared he's going to hurt me." Carmen said.

Iris reached for the fruit basket. Carmen gave her a small watermelon.

"Don't think ahead, just focus on right now. And if he hurt you, I'll kill em." Mama Lorraine said as she watched Iris ate the watermelon.

"Thank you. You're the best." Carmen went around the table to hug her.

"I try to be. Well I only came by to drop off this fruit basket for you. Next week I'll have the peanut butter cookies baked, with the peanut butter cake, but listen here I'm not about to make no damn peanut butter ice cream. Better take your ass to the store and by you some ice cream." Mama Lorraine said and Carmen started laughing.

"Yes ma'am." Carmen said as she got Iris back from Mama Lorraine. She walked Mama Lorraine out. She walked upstairs with Iris in her arms. When she walked in Steven was sleep hugging the pillow like he always do. Carmen got in the bed and put Iris in the middle. Iris rolled over by Steven. While Carmen grabbed the remote to turn the TV on. Carmen pulled Iris back as Steven turned on his side to look at them.

"You cooking tonight?" Was the first thing he asked her when he looked at her.

"I don't know. I'm not hungry right now." Carmen said.

"Hmm when you get hungry, are you cooking tonight?"

"I'll think about it." Carmen said.

Steven sucked his teeth.

"Man, seriously?"

"Why can't you cook?"

"I asked you first."

He had a point.

"Fine, what you want?" Carmen rolled her eyes.

"I don't know. Just make something good." Steven said.

"Fine, I'm taking a nap first. You on uncle duties." Carmen smiled.

Steven mouth dropped.

"By myself?"

"Yep." Carmen yawned.

"Aww hell nah, I can't do it by myself." Steven said.

Carmen rolled her eyes, "Fine, me and her about to take a nap. Go get her milk." Carmen said as Iris yawned.

"Look like she don't need it. She falling asleep now." Steven said as they both watched Iris.

"Well that's my que to take my nap." Carmen said. Steven leaned over to give her kiss. When they pulled apart Carmen was cheesing hard.
