-Chapter Sixteen-

Jake was wearing a pair of tan shorts that stopped at his knees and a white V-neck shirt. A pair of black Ray Bans covered his green eyes. Okay, just because there is a hot guy standing in the driveway doesn’t mean I have to freak out, right? Jake looked even better now that I could finally see him in person.

“Sorry, Boo-Bear,” the brunette apologized, who I’m guessing was Olivia. “I forgot.”

“It’s okay, Livvi. Go in and see Vicky, okay?” The two little girls ran passed me and into the large house.

Jake turned to me and smiled. How come he isn’t some kind of freaking male model? I mean, look at him! And that smile in person is just. . . Amazing.

“So, what do you want to do?” I asked.

“Go get your bathing suit,” he demanded.

“Why do you want me to. . .?”

“Because we’re going surfing!”

Surfing, what? Then my eyes widened in realization. “Jake! I am not going surfing! I don’t even—”

“—Know how to surf,” he finished for me. “I’ll teach you, duh. So, you in for it?”

I shook my head. “Jake, you do know that I’m deathly afraid of the ocean, right?”

He grinned at me, trying to stifle back a laugh. “You’re afraid of the ocean?” he asked. “Why?”

I scowled at him and answered the question. “Because there are sharks, and sorry, but I’m not the kind of person who enjoys getting eaten alive.”

“You think you’re going to get eaten by a shark? Trust me, you won’t. I’ve been surfing for what, nine years now? I’ve never even seen a shark out here before. And if a shark does decide to eat you, then I’ll protect you with these big guns,” he said, showing off his muscles. “This one is Thunder and the other one is Lightning.”

I giggled at his oh-so-huge muscles. “Whoa, they’re so big!” I told him sarcastically. “Better put those guns away. Don’t want to hurt someone.” I patted his shoulder.

“Fine.” He put his arms down. “Now go get your bathing suit.”

I frowned, knowing that there was no need to protest. “Ugh, fine, but if I die surfing, it’s your fault.” I scowled at Jake before going back into the house to change.

I muttered incoherent sentences on my way to the basement. “Alex, why are you still here?” Danielle asked as I walked into the basement. She was sprawled out on one of the couches as she watched SpongeBob. “Shouldn’t you be with Mr. Hot Guy?”

“I need to change into my bathing suit,” I explained. “He’s going to teach me how to surf.”

Her mouth formed an ‘O’. “Doesn’t he know about your awkward phobia?”

“It’s not awkward! There are a lot of people who are afraid of the ocean.”

“Psh, sure. Anyways, you should wear the striped bikini! It looks good on you. Oh! And wear it with that white cover up from last year!”

“Okay, Danielle.”

After changing out of my outfit, I was now wearing my pink and white striped strapless bikini with a white cover up that reached to my mid-thigh. I also took the fishtail braid out, which made my hair somewhat wavy.

Then I noticed that Jake was going to see me in my bikini. Oh my gosh. How come I didn’t think of this before!? Oh, and the fact that my cover up is almost completely transparent doesn’t help. My cheeks were burning as I slid my feet into a pair of pink flip flops.

I grabbed a towel and some sunscreen, placing it in my bag.

Once I was ready, again, I walked out of the front door and saw Jake sitting on a black motorcycle. Of course he looked like a model doing it. The sun hit his face perfectly, making his tan skin look even tanner.

I still can’t believe that I actually met this guy. I’m really glad that he isn’t some guy living in an ice cream truck. Or an old creep who lives with his mother.

Then I noticed that he was on a motorcycle. Wait, how did he manage to text me while riding that death bike?

I walked over him as the wind blew my hair rapidly. Well there goes my chance to doing the whole ‘Slow-Mo Sexy Windblown Hair’ scene successfully. How come Jake can look like a Greek god without even trying? And then there’s me. . . The one having a spasm while trying to look as good as he does.

I tapped on his right shoulder, seeing as there was no window for me to knock on. Jake jumped as he saw me.

“Hi there,” I said.

He gave me a once over, smirking. “I see you’ve changed.”

“Yeah, that’s kind of what you told me to do, right?”

Jake laughed and stood up and gave me a red helmet that was sitting on the bike behind him. “Come on, let’s go.”

“Uh, Jake?” I asked him.

“Yes, Alex?” he mocked me.

I rolled my eyes at him and took the helmet. “You never told me you had a. . . You know. . .” I gestured to the bike. “A motorcycle.”

“Oh yeah.” He paused, and scratched the back of his neck. “I have a motorcycle.”

“Really? I hadn’t noticed.”

He chuckled, “Well you do now.”

I smiled awkwardly, “I’m not riding that.”

“Why not?” he questioned. “Is the wittle girl afwaid of the wittle bicycle?” He tried to imitate a baby.

“I’m not afraid of getting on a bike,” I stated blankly.

He patted the empty space behind him. “Then get on.”

I frowned at the large helmet and put in on my head slowly. I started to get frustrated as my hands fumbled with the stubborn buckle. Jake got up and helped me with it, using his large hands to move my own away and fasten the buckle on the helmet’s strap.

I was thankful for the helmet because I was blushing like crazy at our close proximity. How did he get his helmet to smell like lemons? This, I’ll never know. He probably uses some kind of fancy shampoo.

“You ready?” he asked.

“Yeah, I guess,” I answered, my voice coming out a bit muffled.

“Then come on.”

“Where can I put this?” I held up my bag.

Jake took the bag from me and placed it in a little storage compartment on the back. “There, now come on.”

I walked over to the bike slowly, and swung my left leg over the seat. “I’ve never been on a motorcycle before,” I murmured.

“Don’t worry. Just hold on tight, it’ll be fun.”

Okay, hold on tight. I put my hands on his shoulders and nodded. “I’m ready.”

His body vibrated as he laughed at me. “Alex?”

“Yeah?” I asked.

He took my hands, making heartbeat accelerate at the contact of our skin, and placed them around his waist. “You put your hands here. If you put them on my shoulders, you’d probably fall off and die.” I gasped. “But, of course I’d never let that happen.”

I could basically see his smirk. “You better not let that happen.”

“Okay, so you ready now?” he questioned.

“Yeah, I guess.”

He kicked the kick stand, making it go up. “Just go with the flow,” he told me. I nodded into his back. Jake made the engine come to life, sending shivers up my spine.

“You’re not going to wear a helmet?”

“Nope!” he popped the ‘p’, and made the bike move forward a few yards, and then stopped abruptly.

That’s when I lost it. “Jake! What are you doing!?”

“Teasing you.” Jake chuckled and made the bike move again.

Gosh, I hate him.

Soon enough, we were on the road, headed to the beach.

Butterflies began to build up in my stomach. The first reason was because we were moving so fast. The second reason was because Jake was so close to me. My body was pressed against his, my arms encircled his waist as I hung on for dear life. I could smell his lemony scent. Does he use that fancy shampoo all over his body or something?

It’s official, Jake smells awesome.

I then realized how awkward that sounds. Why am I smelling him?

Anywho, my hair was blowing everywhere, in my face and all. Why the heck did I undo it?

Jake and I finally arrived at the beach. You could hardly hear the waves crashing against the shore in the distance.

Once Jake was parked and he cut the engine, I got off of the bike, retrieving my bag.

“That was fun wasn’t it?”

I have to admit, it was kind of fun. . . “Sure, Boo-Bear.”

Jake scowled at me as he too got off the bike. “Do you have to call me that?”

“Yeah, of course I do.”

“Why?”

“Because it’s just so adorable!” I laughed, as he stood there frowning at me. Soon, I sobered up and gave him back his helmet.

“So shall we get going?” I asked him.

He nodded at me. “Yeah, let’s go.”

“Er. . . Jake?” I asked him.

“Yes?”

“You don’t have a board. Neither do I. . .”

“We will rent some, duh.”

That’s when I felt really stupid. “How much do they cost?”

“About twenty bucks an hour,” he answered. “Don’t worry, I’ll pay for you.”

“Jake, I have money—”

“I said I’ll pay for you,” he repeated.

I groaned. “Fine. But, I’m paying you back.”

“No, you’re not.”

“But, Jake, I want to!”

“You’re too nice,” he told me.

“Nice? No I’m not.” I huffed, kicking the sand.

“You’re not nice, huh? Then why are you insisting on paying me back? Wouldn’t you rather just keep your money?”

I sighed, taking my flip flops off to place them in my bag. “Yeah, I guess so.”

“Then it’s settled.”

We made our way a large shack. I’m guessing this is where you rent surfboards? “Pick a board,” Jake told me.

I scanned over the many surfboards that they had on display. I chose a white one with purple and blue flames on it.

Jake picked one similar to mine, but it had red flames on it. He handed the guy behind the counter two twenty dollar bills before turning to me. “Are you sure you don’t want to chicken out yet?”

“Yes. I think I can do this.” I flashed him a small smile. “Shall we go, then?”

“Yes, we shall. After you, m’lady.”

“Thank you, kind sir,” I replied. I looked over the long strip of beach and found a perfect, clear area to settle in.

I sprawled my green and yellow towel out on the ground carefully as I tried not to get sand on it. I took my cover up off and put it in my bag. My cheeks began to heat up as I remembered that Jake was only a couple feet away.

I stole a glance in his direction. My gosh, he was staring at me. My cheeks felt like they were on fire, but I went back to minding my own business.

I put a coat of sunscreen on, and tied my hair up into a ponytail. It more than likely looked like a rabid squirrel attacked the top of my head.

As I looked at Jake again, I noticed that this time, he had his freaking shirt off. Can someone catch me? I think I’m going to faint.

No, really.

And I thought this boy was hot with clothes on! Holy guacamole. . . Jake was the full package. He had a six pack, and even those ‘V’ things that I don’t know the name of! No seriously, what the heck are those called?

Anyways, he caught me staring at him like the crazy stalker I am. “You know, there are a lot of other guys here that you can eye rape,” he told me.

I could tell my cheeks were a bright red, but I turned away. Damn, next time I should make it less obvious. Stupid hot guys and their hot ‘V’ thingies.

My cheeks went back to normal as I scoffed. “Psht, I was not staring at you.”

“Oh, is that so?” he questioned, taking a step towards me.

“Yes?”

“So. . . You wouldn’t mind if I did this?”

I gulped as he took another two steps towards me. “Do what— Ah!” Suddenly, I could no longer feel the ground beneath my feet. Jake lifted me up and slung me over his shoulder.

“Boo-Bear!” I squealed. “Put me down!”

“Nope!”

“Why not!?”

“Because you called me Boo-Bear,” he explained.

I pounded my fists on his back playfully, knowing that it didn’t hurt him at all. Honestly, I couldn’t complain because I had a pretty nice view, if you know what I mean...

I heard his feet splashing in the water, and my eyes widened. “Jake! What are you doing!?”

That’s when I felt the warm water hit my back and I went under.
