Listening to criticisms, but only the good ones.

As in, listen to your readers' opinions regarding your book.

Your book got to 1k reads! Congratulations! And then you check the comments and they're nothing but 'nice!' 'keep going!' 'You're doing great!'

I have a feeling your ego was inflated when you see it, but then one day, you saw this:

'I like the story, but the characters feel a bit bland and sometimes too generic. Can you maybe make them stand out so that they're memorable, please? It's just my humble opinion, that is.'

Oh no! Someone criticized your work! Your ego was suddenly deflated and now your life is over!!

Is what you might think when you write a story for the first time.

That is what I call a constructive criticism, where a critic points out the negatives they see in your story, BUT give pointers as to how to improve it as well.

You should always take this into consideration, since these sorts of criticisms are the hardest to come by in Wattpad.

Seriously, we need actual critics to give constructive criticism to other people's works these days, especially in this hellhole called Wattpad.

While those criticisms are valid, sometimes, you also see this kind:

'You're story is great and all, but honestly I don't see why people like your story. It's nothing special anyway.'

While yes, this is indeed criticism, it's in poor taste and should not be recommended to follow.

And then. . . There's 'that' one:

'This story sucks. MC is a fucking simp with no taste. I don't know why people write these sorts of characters nowadays. It's stupid.'

This is the worst kind of criticism to encounter, and it is highly recommend that you rebutt these claims, except if your story is exactly how it's described, then I don't know how to help you there.

That is a bad criticism on a (in my opinion) decent book.

But anyway, listen to the good criticisms.
