Kevin's POV
When you have a girlfriend with an innocent face and devil's brain, everything becomes unpredictable. Why am I saying this? Here's why
After dinner while I was tying my shoe lace (as it was time to go home), I heard Keyuri murmur something in Parth's ear. I could only few words like "go out in rain" and "no umbrella". It was followed by grin on Parth's face.
Before I could bid goodbye to my prospective father in law and mother in law, I heard Parth announcing that he needs to go to his friend's place.
Before anyone could reply, Keyuri spoke up with too much concern (it's called over acting. It sounded as if she was worried that her brother is going out to fight in a World War)
" But brother please don't go out. It's raining too heavily. I heard the weather prediction today. It is predicted that it's gonna be a raining very heavily. Traffic is at its worst at this time. Plus there are chances of storm. Many trees are falling on roads. It's too dangerous How can you go there via your two wheeler?"
She put special stress on the words "storm" and "two wheeler". I grinned. She must have checked that I had came here using my bike as a mode of conveyance. I looked at her and she winked (Thank God no one saw that).
I didn't react and within few minutes I heard my future father in law saying "Parth Keyuri is right. Stay at home. And you too Kevin. Don't go out. If it's gonna be a storm like Keyuri says, then it would be difficult for you to reach home. Slippery roads are not safe at this time. Plus you would get drenched and fall ill"
Soon it was decided that I would share Parth's room that night. Keyuri and Parth both seemed excited.
Soon uncle and Parth started watching Cricket on TV while Keyuri was busy washing dishes with her mother. They asked me to join them in watching the match but I decided to be a gentleman and help the ladies. My dad always helps my mum with all kinds of tasks so why not me? (Plus I had to create a fabulous impression in front of my mother in law)
I entered the kitchen and offered to help to clean dishes. Aunty smiled and asked me to go out and watch cricket. But I was determined. After a lot of persuasion she agreed.
While Keyuri applied liquid gel soap and scrubbed the utensils, I washed them in sink. Soon it was followed by Uncle who dried the utensils with dry cloth and Parth passing them to aunty who arranged them in their respective shelfs. It was a simple team work cum routine procedure but I loved it. In between we all joked and laughed and discussed the events of the day in our daily life. It felt like home.
Maybe I had managed to make a small yet an important space in the hearts of her family members. Maybe.
Somehow Keyuri sensed what I was thinking and gave me a beautiful smile when no one was watching.
