1992, 3 months before December
TAEHYUNG POV
"Taetae, my little Song Tae, I'll make sure to talk with your grandma and grandpa to take care of you," mom said as she held me in her arms, and I was an infant at that time. I opened my eyes to see her looking down at me, and she had tears in her eyes.
Was she sad? Was she happy?
She seemed like she could be both.
"Come on, let's go now. We need to go home so we can settle you down," she smiled before taking the bag and walking out of the hospital, carrying me in her arms as we went on our way back home.
The house was big. And it seemed like it was fit for the rich. Mom walked inside as she shut the door closed, and she made her way to the room.
"Yeongji?" A deep voice called. It was soft but hoarse. I wasn't familiar with it.
"Oh, hey," mom replied. She was looking back as she turned her body fully away from where we were headed, only to meet a figure from behind her.
THIRD PERSON POV
The person walked towards Yeongji and her newborn baby. She wasn't surprised by that person who called her name, not even one bit. She just stared at the person as if it was obvious that she was there.
"I thought you were at work?" She asked and the person shook their head.
"I got off... early," they replied and paused a bit.
"Is... that him?" The person continued and Yeongji looked down at the baby before looking at the latter, sighing before showing the baby to him.
"He's... so cute. I'm happy for you, Yeongji. I hope you take good care of him, what... what should I call this little guy?" He asked.
"Call him Song. Just call him like that until he's old enough to live with his grandparents, you did promise that he would live here for a bit," she said and he smiled softly.
"Well, I did. It wouldn't hurt having a cute baby around, isn't that right Song?" Seongjoo said as he smiled down at the baby's sleeping face. And Yeongji looked at her.
He's your child. Of course it wouldn't hurt. But please, don't attach yourself to him, you said you won't take responsibility as a father. She said in her head.
"Mr. Kim, please... don't get attached to him. I just want him to feel happy and loved, without the role of a father in his life. He deserves... to be happy afterall," Yeongji said as she pulled the baby away from him, and Seongjoo looked at her before nodding slowly.
And with that, Yeongji and Seongjoo ended their conversation after ignoring each other for a straight five months, only sharing words professionally.
December 1992
"Congratulations, Mr. Kim. The childbirth was successful. But I think the mother wouldn't last long," thw doctor said.
As Seongjoo sat on the chairs, he couldn't help but sob to himself. He was carrying the baby in his arms, and he couldn't understand why tears were streaming down his cheeks as he cried over his dead wife.
And Yeongji was there, standing by the corner. She looked at Seongjoo crying over another woman, something that she never thought she would witness.
She knew she was already replaced, by someone Seongjoo truly loved.
After a couple of minutes, Seongjoo walked towards her, carrying the infant in his arms.
"Let's go home, carry the baby. I'll go get Sehye," he said, his face stoic with no emotion as he handed the baby to Yeongji.
Yeongji looked at the baby boy. He definitely looked like his father, good-looking, with plump lips and smooth skin. He even has the same nose as him. She rocked the baby in her arms before looking at the father.
"What's his name?"
"Kim Seokjin."
10 months later
10 months passed, and Sehye died.
It was awkward without the presence of Sehye in the house. They seemed like they were back in their old lives. But it was different already.
"Seongjoo, I hope you.... you love this child of yours with all your heart. I know Sehye already passed away, but don't put all the blame into this child. He's going to look just like you, and give him the endless love he needs, unlike the love you gave me," Yeongji said as she looked at the baby's face.
Taehyung was already a year old, so he was bit more bigger than Seokjin. He was already moving a bit and started whining in gibberish.
Little Seokjin and Taehyung were next to each other on the bed. And they were both sleeping soundly.
"I'm going to get the clothes from the washer, please look after both of them," she said as she stood up, exiting the room as Seongjoo was left with the two babies.
As Seongjoo was gazing at his two sons, he suddenly felt a small presence on his hand, and his eyes widened as he looked at the tiny hand that was placed on top of his hand, and he looks at the baby.
"Ba....," the small boy of 1 year said, and Seongjoo's eyes widened.
Song was there, and he opened his eyes a bit as he looked at his father's eyes. And Seongjoo's stared at him.
Then, his eyes narrowed towards him as he looked down to the hand that was on top of his bigger hand.
YEONGJI POV
As I grabbed the clothes from the washing machine, transferring them to the dryer, I sighed as I turned my heel, making my way to the room where the children were.
Then, I suddenly heard a voice inside.
My eyes widened a bit, and I approached the door, before slowly pushing it open.
And I looked at the sight in front of me.
Seongjoo was there, pressing a pillow against Tae's face, as he was lying down.
"Huuwaahhhh- mmmpp!" The baby cried as the pupils in Seongjoo's eyes dilated, he kept pressing the pillow against his face, blocking the breathing from his body.
"S-seongjoo! What the heck are you doing?!" I yelled as I ran towards him, pushing him off as I scooped Taehyung in my arms, his face was red as he kept catching his breath.
Thank God, it must have been just a few seconds.
Seongjoo fell on the ground, and I looked at him as tears pooled my eyes, and I held Taehyung in my arms as Taehyung sobbed in my embrace.
"Y-you... do realize... that this... this is your son, your child, right?" I said in a shaky voice as I stared at him, and he looked up at me.
He blinked, before looking down on his hands, his whole body trembling as he ran his hand on his hair, tears streaming down his cheeks.
"You tried... to kill your own son," I said as I looked at Taehyung, and he kept panting as I caressed his face.
"I-I'm sorry! I didn't know what I was doing! I-it was stupid of me!" He replied as he crouched down, leaning against the wall.
"Now... I know... I can't trust you with my child anymore," I replied as I looked down at me.
"Song.... I'm sorry! Forgive me! Please!" Seongjoo cried as he yelled it out, tears still streaming down his cheeks.
"Seongjoo, please don't make the same mistake with Seokjin. He's too precious to be treated like that," I reply lowly as I looked at him.
"Also, I'm taking my child away from here right away, because I don't trust you with him anymore," I said as I carried him in my arms, turning away as I walked to the exit.
"Oh, and Seongjoo..."
"I know it's not you to do something so bad as that, so please.... don't throw the frustration of your wife's death to me and my family."
TAEHYUNG POV
"Today we have a new student joining us for the our new school year in 3rd grade elementary school, please introduce yourself!"
"H-hello. I'm... Song Tae, and I hope you take good care of me!" I said the usual Korean introduction as I bowed down infront of the class.
"Thank you for joining us, Song Tae. Now, take a seat at the very back and we shall discuss the new topic," the teacher said as I walked towards my desk, sitting down before taking my books.
"Alright, let's talk about our family. Can anyone of you tell me who is in your family?" The teacher asked as she looked around.
"Ah, let's start with the very back going to the very front. I want all of you to answer! Now, please stand up! Please give your name and your family!" The teacher smiled as she pointed to the people at the back.
"I'm Kim Seokjin. I... have a mommy and a dad. And... we also have a nanny that I consider as family too!" The guy at the window seat said as he looked at the teacher.
"Great job, Seokjin! Now, how about you?" The teacher asked.
She pointed at me, and I swallowed the lump in my throat before standing up.
"I-I'm Song Tae. I... have a mom.... and my grandma and grandpa," I said and the teacher nodded.
"Ah, you live with your grandparents? That's good to know!" The teacher smiled.
"Teacher, Tae doesn't have a father though," a child raised his hand up and the teacher looked at him.
"A family doesn't need a father sometimes, a mother can also play the role of two parents!" She said and the child nodded in awe.
"Oh so the new kid doesn't have a father?"
"Life must be so bad for him."
"No wonder he seems kind of odd."
-
"You wimp! Get out of here! You can't even throw the ball well!" The big kid said as they pushed me.
"S-stop it!" I said as they pushed me to a wall.
"Who said you can tell us what to so? Go cry to your dad! Oh wait, you don't have one!" They laughed and I bit my lip as I leaned against the wall.
"You lousy moron! You shouldn't have transferred here!"
Then, my eyes diverted to the person who was passing by, looking at me as they sipped on their carton of milk, and my eyes widened as I looked at the person.
"Hey! Answer us! I'll punch you!" The kid said as they pushed me, and I looked at the person.
Isn't that the kid from the window seat earlier?
Kim Seokjin?
This guy.... he was popular in elementary school. He had lots of friends, had a good grades, maintained a very good reputation with students, I could tell from how every pupil in class smiles at him whenever he stands up for a question.
"Pl-please! Please help me!" I said as I looked at the person, and they stood up straight as they stared at me.
"Seokjin! There you are! Let's go and walk home together!" Another voice chimed in, and another kid walked towards Seokjin as he pulled his arm.
Seokjin looked at me, and he diverted his gaze to his friend, before nodding, and walking along with him.
Then, I was knocked to the ground as the kid kicked me.
Why... why did you just leave me like that?
Is it because I wasn't loved that much?
-
"Tae... how was school? Did you study well?" Mom asked as we held hands, and she looked at me as she carried my bag.
"It... was fine. By the way, my teacher asked me about a father...," I trailed off, not knowing how important was a father in a person's life, brushing off the pain the kids gave me.
I felt mom tense up at that word, and she looked at me before smiling, her hand nicely wrapped around mine.
"Taetae, I think I won't get to tell you about this sooner or later anyway, so I'll tell you when we arrive at grandma and grandpa's home. You're old enough to know now anyway, and it would be better if you knew earlier," mom replied and I nodded as we walked to the subway train.
-
"Here, look at this," mom said as she showed me a small picture frame. It seemed a bit dusty, and it was old.
It had a woman and a man. The man was hugging the woman and they seemed so happy together.
"What is this?" I ask and she smiles a bit before pointing at the two figures.
"That's me... and your... father," she said as she looked at the frame.
I had a father?
"I... had a dad? Where is he? I want to see him!" I said and her eyes widened as she looked at me.
"He.... he's not here Taehyung. You see... he's not family to us anymore," she explained and I nodded.
"I understand, and I trust you... mommy, but... my dad doesn't love me?" I asked.
"I don't know. All you need to know is that you had a dad, so that those who make fun of you for it would go away," she explained and I nodded before looking at her.
"But... did he love me? Please say he loved me," I said and she smiled softly.
"I don't want to hurt you with lies Taetae, you're my son and I love you so much, please don't think of that," she said before planting a kiss on my forehead, taking the picture away from me.
"Then, I'll be going now. I have to go back to work. I'll see you tomorrow. Just tell grandma if you need anything, alright?" She asked and I nodded as I looked at her.
2004
Brriiiinnnggg!
Yeongji looked at her pocket before taking out her phone, looking at the caller ID before answering it. She was cleaning the house before Seongjoo and his other wife could come home.
"Namjoon, Seokjin, don't go anywhere and just play with your toys! I'm going to answer a call!" She called on the two boys on the floor, playing.
She walked to the balcony before answering the call, putting the phone in her ear.
"Hello?"
"Yeongji!"
"Yes?"
"Taehyung..... he ran away from home."
-
"Taehyung! Taehyung! Where are you?!" She called as she looked around, running out of the door as soon as she heard it.
Tears streamed down her cheeks as she looked everywhere for him. She even ran home just to see an empty bedroom and all his clothes were gone. She was running down the streets as she sobbed to herself.
"Taehyung, if all my hopes are lost in finding you,
Always remember, mom loves you so much."
TAEHYUNG POV
I know I'm selfish.
I know I'm a no-good soon.
I'm not enough for you.
I know you want a complete family.
I want to be loved, to be validated, to be the one who makes everything complete.
I want to be accepted.
I held my tears as I turned my head back to the house where I was raised since I was infant. It was my grandparents' house.
I started to run, I just wanted to go anywhere. I wanted to find something.
I wanted to find an answer to all my questions.
Then, my eyes widened as my body bumped into something hard.
"Hello there, how are you?"

Sorry for the late chap it was TOOSNWJDKDLONGNSJWJS
But anyways this concludes Taehyung's backstory!
And also, please refrain from slutshaming other fictional characters in the book. May I remind you that if you are bashing the OCs (especially Sunyoo I will burn you) it also hurts my feelings bc I love them. So please, whether fictional or not, please view the characters as humans too please and thank you. I hate it when people think slutshaming is okay for fictional characters when it is not okay FOR ANYONE.
And also, WHY DID BTS NOT WIN A GRAMMY AHHHH SCAMMYS AT ITS FINEST >:(((
