YOUNGYEON POV
My brows furrowed as I looked at him. His eyes were red and puffy, it seemed like he was crying and his shirt was crinkled.
I sighed as I looked at him, emptiness filling my chest as I stared at him in that state.
"I... I don't know what to say. I'm sorry," I said, looking at him as he takes his shoes off, and he takes a seat on the sofa as he runs his hand over his messy black locks. His lips were swollen from crying and he kept nibbling on his bottom lip.
I couldn't help but feel my heart drop whenever I see him in that state. Flashbacks of what he had said to me about how his mother passed away and she was the only one who truly understood him. And now, it was his father. The same man who raised him up since he was a baby when his mother passed away, and probably the only person who he really relied on aside from his brother.
"Seokjin," I sighed as I looked at him, not knowing what to do.
"I had to cancel the conference last minute. And to think what a bad timing it is. Where even the CEO of Dispatch was in the party, and plus I didn't get to say my statement. Which makes it harder for me to explain," he groaned, hitting the top of his head with his closed fists.
"Seokjin, it's not your fault. It really isn't. It isn't your fault your father died either," I said as I placed down the clothes, approaching him slowly as I saw his ruined state.
He looked at me, his eyes bloodshot red as I sighed again. Before walking and standing infront of him to look at his figure that was seated on the couch. And he tilted his face up to meet mine.
Suddenly, my eyes widened as I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist and I gasped as I was pulled forward. My stomach hit something soft and I looked down to see the older man's head softly resting against me, his arms wrapped around me.
"I-I'm sorry... but... can I... hold you?" He croaked out, and my hands made their way to his messy and slightly-sweaty hair, tousling it a bit as my fingers get tangled in his dark locks.
"Hmmm... I need someone to hug," he mumbles as he squishes his cheek against my stomach, sending butterflies to my stomach as my face suddenly turns red.
I hope butterflies aren't literally in my stomach right now.
I was between his legs, since he was manspreading. Which made it easier for him to hug me like this.
"Seokjin, you see I believe that when people die, they would want the people left behind to be happy, and to move on without them. My mother would say that a lot of times when we visited my dad, so I made sure to be happy all the time and to live my life," I explained as I kept playing with his soft hair.
"My mom would hug... me a lot when I was a kid. I used to be alone a lot so I would cry a lot as a kid. So my mom hugs me to make sure she'll never leave me. Funny how she was the first person to leave me," he says, chuckling silently.
"You've lost lots of people in your life Seokjin. But still, I'm happy you... you're able to pick yourself up and use that to make yourself a stronger version of yourself," I said as I looked at him, and I realised he stopped crying.
"I'd do so because there's no point with me feeling miserable for the rest of my life. Because I know that as long as I'm living, I'm gonna die reaching my goals in life," he says softly and I smile at him.
"I'm sure right now... your father would be so happy seeing you say that. He'd be proud of you," I smiled down at him.
"I don't know... I'm gonna visit his body at the hospital tomorrow since visiting hours are closed in the hospital. They told me that only mom was the last person to have stayed with him until the very end," he says.
"Atleast your mother gets to be with her husband. I just hope she's okay," I said and he sighed deeply before staring at me.
He then placed his whole face flat against my stomach, nuzzling into it as the heat in my cheeks become evident.
"Namjoon also called earlier. He told me he dropped you here? And then right after he dropped you here he received a call about dad," he said and I hummed in confirmation.
"Well, Youngyeon.... it's around 11 in the evening. And I think we should get some rest," he said.
"Can I hold you while I sleep? Just for tonight."
-
"A-ah! Seokjin... hah!"
"No! Don't stop!"
"Seokjin!"
"O-oh...."
"That tickles! Stop!" I squeal as he pokes the side of my waist, and I try my best to pry myself away from him.
"Weren't you supposed to hold me? Even though making fun of you seems good today, but I just don't really have the happy mood in me right at the moment. I want to mourn his death," he says as he sprawls himself on the bed, and I stare at him as I sit up.
"I mean, of course it's normal for someone to mopurn for their father's death. But... promise me you won't be clinging to this sadness for long? I want to see your smile again," I say and he flashes me a soft smile before nodding.
"I won't. Now, what are you waiting for?" He asks as he pats the space beside him, and I nod before lying myself down, looking up the ceiling of his bedroom.
His bedroom might be one of the biggest rooms here. He had a whole king-sized bed with a balcony and had a clear view of Seoul. He even had a walk-in closet and a bathroom as big as the kitchen downstairs with a hot tub, a shower. All his shoes were displayed in a shoe closet inside the walk-in closet as well. He also had his own arcade and studio too.
Oh how rich this man is.
I snuggle under the blankets and Seokjin pulls the covers up as it engulfs both of us. We were in our pajamas and I walked in here as soon as I finished showering and changing downstairs.
"Hey Youngyeon?" He says as he faces me with his body, his eyes staring at me as I stare back at him in the dark.
"Yup?"
"Thank you," he says and he reaches forward to plant a kiss on my forehead, and whole body froze at that action.
"Get some sleep," he says before turning his back at me, leaving me stiff and unable to process anything that was happening.
NAMJOON POV
"Mom, I know it's hard going to be living without him. Just... try to make yourself happy, alright?" I say as I hug my mother. She's been crying for the past two hours after hearing about her husband's death.
"Joonie, I knew he wouldn't last so long. but I didn't know why... it had to be today! He even had an operation scheduled to save him!" Mom cried and I sighed before hugging her tighter in my arms.
Since we couldn't visit dad because of visiting hours, I went straight to their house to make sure mom was okay. She kept sobbing in my arms and I couldn't help but feel a pang in my heart.
"L-look at the bright side! He gets to rest now. And... Seokjin gets to be CEO of KimHit now!" I say, trying to cheer her up as she wipes her tears.
"Joonie, I love Seokjin like my son. And I'm happy he gets to have that opportunity. But no matter what we do, everything won;t be the same without your dad," she sniffles and I look down on the floor.
"Yeah, everything won't be the same after when dad is gone. But it's just how we deal with life, we lose people and we don't know how much they mean to us until they pass away," I say and mom sighs before releasing the hug, looking at me.
I didn't cry at all, but I felt like my whole world was cracking piece by piece as I looked at the empty sky, which is the same as how hollow and numb I felt inside.
I'm sorry.
THIRD PERSON POV
9:40 P.M.
Mr. Kim was silently lying down the bed, his breathing was slightly quick due to his illness. He had trouble breathing and the doctor made him rest before his operation.
He sighed as he breathed through his oxygen. The room was dark and it was silent.
Creeeaakkk
Mr. Kim heard the creak somewhere. His eyelids fluttered open as he looked at the empty ceiling.
"How are you feeling?"
Those were the first few words he heard. When he was fully awake, he slowly looked towards the figure who was standing infront of him. He didn't know who that person was since it was dark, and he only saw their figure.
"You're awake. Now.. tell me how are you feeling."
Then, after a bit of mumbling and exchanging of words, Mr. Kim's eyes widened as he suddenly felt two hands grope his neck, and he gasped for air as it got tighter and tighter.
"I waited for you, cared for you, and looked out for you, but it seems like in the end you'll always be the one to lose. You're a selfish person who thinks everything revolves around themselves! I've been watching over you day and night, you know that? I hate you for still living," the figure laughed.
"Mmmmp! Nooo!" Mr. Kim croaked out.
"But right now, you won't be living anytime soon."
