15. Umbridge As Headmaster
Now that Dumbledore's Army had been caught and dissolved by Professor Umbridge, she accused Dumbledore himself of forming the organization. As part of the Ministry of Magic, Umbridge fired Dumbledore and Professor Trelauney, and she became the new Headmistress. Everyone was horrified. Now she was just going to add on more pointless rules than she had before and she definitely wasn't going to go easy on them.
"Draco, since you're a member of the Inquisitorial Squad, do you think you can be a double agent for us?" Greta requested. (Thank you, @deadlikesiruis !)
"I'll do anything for you," Draco agreed.
Draco always informed Greta of the new rules that Umbridge had set out, and Greta was sure to protect herself and her non-wizarding supplies just in case if anything were to happen. Since girls and boys weren't allowed to be less than six inches apart, Greta and Draco always made sure to break that rule (when they were alone, of course).
"I wonder how long this is going to hold up," Greta sighed. "Umbridge is starting to drive me crazy."
"I bet not as crazy as you drive me," Draco flirted.
"The same goes for you, Blondie," Greta flattered.
That's when Draco pulled Greta into a deep, passionate kiss. Draco smelled of mint and green apples; a satisfying scent to have. It soothed Greta entirely and she hoped that Draco could tell that she wore vanilla chapstick. As the kiss deepened even further, Draco slipped the tip of his tongue into the crevice of Greta's parted lips, giving Greta a jolt of shock but small enjoyment. She ruffled Draco's hair slightly and he did the same to her. Several long minutes passed as the kiss continued, and both teens were given a sense of thrill, given that they had never made out with anyone else before. It felt sort of refreshing in a way.
Finally, the long kiss ended and they gave each other soft kisses all around their faces and necks.
"Your lips tasted sweet," Draco commented. "Was that vanilla?"
"Yeah, I thought I could change things up a bit. I don't normally wear lip glosses and such," Greta replied.
Draco let out a soft chuckle as he wrapped Greta into a hug. "I want this to last. You know, what we have?"
"Me too. I really do."
Draco then took Greta on a stroll down the hallway, hand-in-hand. They were on their way to the Gryffindor common room. They enjoyed being together in the dark because it reminded them that they had each other.
"Did you have a great time tonight?" Draco asked.
"Of course! Why wouldn't I?" Greta confirmed.
"I just wasn't sure if you would ever date a Slytherin," Draco admitted. "I mean, that's the whole reason I bullied you. I wanted to have at least a little bit of interaction with you, even if it was bad. Even if all you knew about me was my name, that would've been good enough for me."
"I may not have liked you very much at first, but I like you now, and that's all that matters," Greta promised. "You mean a lot to me."
"You do too."
A low mewl came from behind them. They could only assume that it was Miss Norris.
"Crap!" Greta whispered. "We have to hide. Fast!"
Draco gripped onto Greta's hand a little tighter and dragged her down the hallway until they reached a broom closet. "Hurry, in here."
Draco opened and shut the door as quietly as he could, then made sure that Greta was completely hidden before hiding himself close to her. He signaled for Greta to remain silent, but she was already taking the whole thing seriously. They both tensed up immediately after hearing the voice of Mr Filch coming from right outside the closet.
"What is it, Miss Norris?"
Miss Norris only mewed in response. The only noise that could be heard from inside the broom closet was Greta's heartbeat, which accelerated by the second. Draco squeezed her hand as a way of comfort and she did the same. Mr. Filch soon cracked open the door and examined the closet's interior, hoping to find a student inside. Draco and Greta were completely frozen, trying their hardest not to wobble even the slightest. Concentration was an important factor in not getting caught. Mr. Filch's footsteps drew closer and Greta swore that she heard Draco's breath falter, but she didn't think anything of it.
After deciding that Miss Norris had heard a rat or something other than a student, Mr. Filch left the broom closet with Miss Norris trotting behind him. When the two had decided that the enemies had for sure left, Draco let out a sneeze and apologized.
"Sorry, I almost got us caught."
"It's ok. I'm sure that you would've come up with a brilliant excuse for us."
"Do you want to stay in here a while longer? Filch might still be nearby somewhere."
Greta smiled and kissed Draco's lips softly. "I'd like that."
Time Skip
As the year went by, Professor Umbridge continued to ramble on about the OWL's, which were an important test that the students of Hogwarts had to take. That time had soon arrived and everyone was nervous.
Greta remained seated as she waited for the test's arrival, a massive flood of anxiety overcoming her. Huge tests like these always made her feel nervous because they were so important. The OWLs were no exception.
Umbridge made sure that every student in the classroom received a sheet of paper and announced some items of importance.
"In just a moment, you all will be taking your OWLs. That means that you are to all remain silent during the testing section and to take the test itself seriously. Now, you may begin."
Greta's eyes scanned and analyzed each question carefully, not wanting to fail. There were some questions that made her have to guess, but, other than that, it wasn't as difficult as she thought it would be.
Around the halfway point of the testing session, everyone could hear a strange noise coming from the hallway. They turned their heads to the sound and waited for Umbridge to see what it was. Umbridge removed herself from her desk, opened the classroom door, and poked her head out.
A sharp yelp escaped Professor Umbridge's mouth as bright fireworks shooted straight towards her. It was Fred and George's doing and everyone knew it.
The fireworks were loud, colorful, and were in the shape of a humongous dragon. That was just enough for Umbridge to escape the classroom, leaving all the students to laugh at her suffering.
