Talking to dragons - Part 3 - Criston x Reader

"I...............I............" Cole stammered, as he looked deep into the eyes of the beautiful woman in front of him. The Kingsguard feeling his skin heat as her hand moved down to take his.

"Would you like to meet a dragon, Ser Cole? It is an easy enough question. Not many get the chance to actually meet one face to face. To experience up close the true majesty that is a dragon. But as Naga refuses to leave my side, I think that it is about time that my two protectors meet one another." The lady continued, pulling on the Kingsguards hand, slowly leading him towards the great grey creature that continued to glare at him. (Y/n) turning to look at the dragon, as Naga let out a heavy huff that seemed to nearly cause Criston to jump out of his skin.

"Naga..........be nice...........He is the one I was telling you about." The princess chastised. Naga seeming to roll his eyes before shaking his head and lowering it to the ground; still eyeing the man that had a look of sheer horror etched onto his face.

"Don't worry about him. He can be a grumpy old thing when he is woken suddenly." (Y/n) explained, doing her best to assure the Kingsguard that all was safe. The lady taking a step closer to him. Cole feeling his cheeks flush, as (Y/n) moved so that she could speak into his ear. Her soft breath gently caressing his neck as she whispered softly to him. Criston wishing that he could just pull her into his arms and kiss her in the way that he had dreamt of doing every night since he had first laid eyes on her.

"I want you to meet Naga, Criston. I want two of the most important things in my life, to be friends." (Y/n) continued. The guard feeling his heart race, as she moved so that she could look at him. Cole's eyes moving between her beautiful bright orbs and her lips. The Kingsguard slowly inching closer to his lady. Their noses almost touching. Criston sure that he could already taste her lips, her mouth. The princess saying his name so softly, that he could swear that it almost wasn't there. Thoughts of happily breaking his oath filling his mind, as his lips ghosted against hers.

Suddenly, a warm blast of air surrounded the pair. (Y/n) giving Criston an apologetic look as the beast behind her let out another huff. It obvious that Naga had no intention of letting the Kingsguard any closer than he had already got to the lady.

"Come on............he might be a little happier if you introduce yourself." The lady said, as her hand slipped back into Criston's before going back to pulling him towards her dragon. Cole not sure that he would be able to really tell the difference between a happy dragon and not so happy dragon. But if it meant that he wasn't going to be burned, and it would please the princess, the Kingsguard determined to do what he had to do. His heart jumping into his throat, as the lady slowly and carefully placed his trembling hand onto Naga's snout. The dragon watching his every move as Criston stood as still as he could.

"You need to tell him who you are. Then if you ever come here again, he will remember you................" (Y/n) told the Kingsguard. Criston swallowing heavily at the large lump that had formed in his throat, before opening his mouth the speak.

"H............hello Naga. I...................."

"No. Naga does not understand common tongue. He only understands High Valyrian................."

"But...........but I don't can't..................."

"I am aware that you can't speak the language, but perhaps if you copied me.....?" The beautiful Targaryen interrupted, as she moved behind the warrior and stood close to him. Her hand moving to rest over his; the two looking at the great Naga. A thrilling shiver racing down his spine as the lady began to speak the words. Criston doing his best to copy each one as she spoke them.

"Rytsas, Naga. Brōzio ñuha iksis Criston. Issa sȳz naejot rhaenagon ao." The princess smiling, as the Kingsguard stumbled over the words. Believing that it actually sounded quite sweet as he introduced himself. Naga choosing to close his eyes and ignore the man completely.

"You did very well, Criston. High Valyrian isn't the easiest of languages." (Y/n) assured, as her guard looked to his side. Feeling a blush come to his cheeks as he realised just how close he was to her once again.

"What.........what did I say................?"

"You greeted him. Gave him your name and told him that it was a pleasure to meet him. But if you would like to learn more, I would be happy to teach you..........Then if you have to come and find me here another time, you will be able to speak to him and the others a little better." The lady explained, as Criston slowly moved his hand away from the scaled snout, turning to come face to face with the sister of the king.

"You..........you would do that...............?"

"Of course. Why not? Just because you were born the son of the steward of Lord Dondarrion, that does not mean that you cannot learn more things. That you cannot strive to better yourself further. As it is, you have already done so much. Not only were you knighted by his lordship, but you beat my brother at the tourney and now you also find yourself a Kingsguard. There are not that many men that can claim that." (Y/n) replied, as she slowly reached up, and pushed a lock of his brown hair away from his face. Cole quickly taking her hand and pulling it to his lips. Kissing it softly.

"You are too kind, my lady............thank you............"

"There is nothing to thank me for, Criston. As I said, it will be my pleasure. And it will mean that I get to spend more time with you............."

"You want to spend more time with me..............?"

"Of course. I..............I like you. And I would prefer it if you were in my room learning, than just stood outside the door.............."

"You like me.......................?" Criston interrupted. Hoping that his beauteous charge had really meant what she had said.

"Yes. I like you very much. In fact,.................."

"In fact, what................?"

"In fact..........I believe that what I feel for you is more than what one might expect to feel for a friend. For someone that protects me. I think.........no, I know, that what I feel for you is far beyond that. I.................." The princess' explanation cut short. Her words taken from her, as Criston's lips crashed into hers. The pair losing themselves in each other's kiss, as they stood in the depths of the dragon pit.
