2 | Sixth Sense

I think the fact that I was always so calm, scared a lot of the inmates. They tried to instigate and start fights with me, but I rarely responded. They feared me. They knew who I was. They knew what I was capable of. And the ones who didn't know me, heard overly exaggerated stories from others, and feared me more. This didn't stop some of the more rowdy ones though. They feared me but they wanted to fight. They wanted to say that they had bested me. They wanted people to fear them as well, and if they could say that they beat Chris Motionless, then they'd surely be feared.

Like now, for instance, there were three of them surrounding me. I might just indulge them this once. They don't stand a chance anyway.

"Fucking bitch. You're scared to fight aren't you?"

"Yeah, you know we'd kick your ass."

I sighed and stood up. I stretched my arms above my head and looked at the three of them. The sun was in my eyes, but I just ignored it. "On the contrary, I refrain from fighting because I know that your chance of survival is small."

They laughed. "That's really fucking funny. You really think you'd win in a three on one fight?"

"I don't think, I know. So I suggest you walk away now."

"Nah I don't think we will."

I rolled up my sleeves and let out a long breath. "Very well, then."

Next thing I know, one of them swung at me. I ducked and dodged it, kicking him in the leg. He stumbled a little but caught himself. The other one slammed his fist into my jaw while I was caught off guard. I tasted blood but it didn't bother me.

I seem to have lost track of the third one. He wasn't in front of me anymore. Shit. I spun around, driving my fist into his face. He's clearly the weakest of the three. That's why he tried to attack me from behind. The guards don't stop the fights here. They just watch.

One of the one's in front tried to grab me, but I dodged it. Before I had the chance to move the other one kicked me in the ribs. The kick sent fresh ripples of pain through my torso. I didn't fall but it was a lot closer than I liked. In the two seconds I wasn't paying attention, I was grabbed from behind.

He went in for another shot, punching me in the stomach. The two of them hit me over and over again. They knocked the wind out of me, before dropping me to the ground.

It took me a minute, but I stood again.

Maybe I wasn't gonna win. I am out of practice.

They seemed amazed when I got up. Before they could do anything, I grabbed the one behind me and slammed his head into the nearby table. He fell to the ground, completely unconcious. I moved around the back and one of them in the back of the leg. He fell down and I shoved him to the ground. I grabbed the other one by the back of the neck and pushed him up against the fence.

I stood there, looking at the three of them.

"You can't beat me. I told you."

I was brought back to my cell and left there. It's boring here. There's not much to do. I've never been one for reading, so I just spend most of my time working out and sleeping. I've written a few letters and had them sent out, but I've never gotten any responses.

Andy came and visited me a few weeks after I got here, but I told him not to come back. He said Ricky took off and left a note. Andy had brought me the note and I'd read it. I still had it. I miss him so much. I know he was hurt by what happened but I didn't think he'd leave.

I want to see him. I want to go home.

i probably should've clarified, the preview is not the first chapter. that's actually be a part of the story in the future. basically what the setup of the story is, is like each part is like a certain amount of time since the last book. like part one says "three months since" and part two will be like 'two years since", so the preview is not part of the current situation.

also I know this chapter is short, but theres a reason for it. The first few are gonna be short
