Chapter 44
Chapter 44: The funeral
Everything was silent, and you didn't know what had happened who had dragged you back, who had removed Taehyung's body, or what happened. You didn't know.
You blank out, and it was better you thought if you had a blackout, it would have been better, you wanted to erase those thoughts, those eyes who was staring at you, those eyes that you had once believe in, those eyes that you had trust and fight for while you were here.
The eyes which closed forever, now, forever seems forever. You didn't know how many minutes, days since you had seen those eyes begging to be let free.
Those innocent eyes that you believe, you were sitting by the windows in black attire, you were attending a funeral, you were attending his funeral, Taehyung's funeral. It made your eyes squeeze shut at the thought of him inside the casket being lowered down by someone, becoming one with nature.
It snapped you that day, and when you saw his weary pleading eyes, you looked at besides you to see the knife he had clutched that day, you didn't know what to do with it. You were afraid to touch it, but it was the only thing he had left you.
Slowly your arms reach out to the knife. You couldn't help to tear up a little, and you took a deep breath and chuckle, Taehyung was an asshole.
A Broken Asshole who had to manage to drill his presence into your life, to be honest, you didn't even think you'll be able to leave this place without forgetting what he had gone through, Killer or not he was still human.
He was a human with a broken past. He was so afraid of death; he had fallen inside the pit.
Who was going to help him walk through his darkest mind?
A sudden knock broke your thoughts, and to your surprise to see Yoongi came walking in. After what had happened, you could swear Seokjin was beside you the whole time, but Yoongi came in with a calm face but when he had seen your sad face snuggling in your black dress his eyes soften.
"They are starting soon, Namjoon didn't want it to be too long, Jungkook's birthday preparation is still a few days away and –"
"Do you think he'll be okay?" you asked Yoongi, you were looking ahead of the garden, Yoongi who was looking at you sat beside the windowsill he too felt terrible.
"I don't know, but Namjoon wants us too –"
You could only chuckle sadly, "You all had no respect, your friend just died, and you want to finish preparing a birthday? How could someone be so insensitive."
"Then what are we supposed to do? Mop around like this, and wait for him to wake up?" he glare, "News flash his dead, and his body is inside the casket."
"You!"
"I know I'm a jerk right now, but right now you need to get going, Namjoon is not a happy man, and I want you to leave this place alive, you've lost a significant blow up on –"
"He was someone I cared about Yoongi." Yoongi's mouth shut close, someone you cared about? Then what about him?
"You cared about him?"
"I- I don't know, I just..." he waited for your answer.
"He felt so broken, and I didn't know what to do, he seems so broken, and I wanted to help him despite people saying he was the Killer his eyes spoke a different language. He had confessed that night he was the Killer, he was ready to accept his faith, but his eyes spoken up about something else."
Yoongi's eye softens once more.
Taehyung, despite a mysterious man, didn't lie about being left behind, he was brought in, and grew up in an environment he couldn't stand on. He had always tell Yoongi he was afraid of death. He would instead push another man off the cliff if it meant he could live.
He was not keen on knowing he was dead knowing that one day his capturer would be there waiting for him at the end of his life. He'll do anything to live longer if it means he didn't have to see them because it seems like forever was forever.
But the last few days, he hadn't known he had faced his fear, Yoongi didn't understand what Taehyung thought when the poison streaming in his body meant for him. But, Yoongi knows that Taehyung was trying to protect you.
"He's a strong kid, stupid, but he knows what he's doing," Yoongi answered, "It was better for him this way."
"Better?" you scoff, "I don't even think he even knows what he had done!"
You looked at him who was sitting in front of you, calmly, "and you think you knew better than he did?"
Yoongi's eyebrows raised," and you? Who are you to speak for him? Last time you check you were nothing to him, you need to keep that in mind."
This time you were quiet, he was right, you were no one to Taehyung, yet he was someone who made your heartache.
"You're right," you told him.
Yoongi looks at you again and sigh, "He's in a better place, he was mistaken for something you believe he didn't do, he didn't want to burden you, so he took his chances, maybe not the best way at that time, but this is Taehyung we're speaking off, despite not having relation to you. He still cared in his way.'
"You think so?" you answered softly, as the minute pass you look up to Yoongi who was closing his eyes, he was trying to take a little power nap, since everything that has been happening. He didn't get much sleep, suddenly remembering what Taehyung had said to you, but Yoongi had beat you to it.
"He's a special person, often mistaken for someone else," Yoongi begins to talk as you listen," To be honest, I wasn't expecting it was him, but the truth was always bitter." Yoongi chuckled.
He looks at you, "I hope you can forgive him for what he had done, but you need to let go."
"If you're going to move on, then you need to let go of what's holding you back," he said, "It's going to hurt like hell, but it'll heal, you don't have to forget you need to remember to know why you started."
You were silent as he was right, crying over his death was not an option as you need to move on. Him being one of the thoughts of your freedom.
"Come on, we need to get going," he opened his eyes, fluttering his eyelids a bit as he yawns, "I'm not good at counselling you, but –" he held out his arms wide.
"What are you doing?" you asked him, and he closes his eyes again.
"I won't look, I promise, you can cry now, but don't cry later, no one will care if you cry. But it's better to let it out over a hug from someone." You didn't know what happened, but you had jumped into his arms crying for a minute over a lost.
The car ride was silent, as the funeral held in the cemetery where his grandparents were buried.
Yoongi had made you promise that day not to cry over the funeral, and you did not. The whole place was silent, as the quick funeral was held, a word from Hoseok, and then the casket lowered.
You walk alone to the opened casket as you held a beautiful banquet of white tulips, you lowered the flower in his coffin, and you step back.
The journey back was challenging, but you had promised one thing on your way around, you're going to end the terror, and you're going to help everyone.
You're going to get out of here alive.
"Yoongi... I need to tell you something," Yoongi's head turns to you as the car moves back to the house.
