Adults Stepping Up
AN: Both me and my nephew have an ear infection and I always bawl when my mom puts the drops in. He sees me crying and starts crying also.
Mu dialed Saga's number as he put on the backpack and rubbed Shion's back soothingly.
"Hello?"
"So, the appointment went well but I think you need to make sure that Dohko sees a pediatrician. Shion is younger than you and the others thought."
"...How much younger?"
"Six."
"I'll just call you back in a second because Airios and the others also heard and there may be a few accidents and a few promotions occurring in a few minutes."
"Don't kill anyone, please? It's not always the answer." Mu found himself hoping that the Silver Saints were already dead.
"No promises."
The phone call ended. Shion looked at Mu, tearing up just a little bit. Mu smiled at Shion.
"I'm sure that everything is fine. Lady Athena is there so I'm sure that Justice will be dealt out. No one's mad at you. Let's go get Shaka and Kiki." Mu picked Shion up and shifted him to his hip. They walked to the waiting room where Milo and Camus were sitting by Shaka while Kiki and Dohko were building something elaborate out of blocks a foot away from them.
"So, how'd the appointment go?" Milo asked, knowing full well how it went as did the other gold Saints, sans Dohko, in the waiting room.
"He's alright. Nothing life threatening. I'm going to assume that we will be eating out and wait for things to calm down?"
"Yep. Dohko had his appointment while you and the idiotic doctor tried to figure it out." Milo stated.
"How did you know to see a pediatrician?" Mu asked, amused. Camus just huffed as he took a picture of the elaborate block Sanctuary that the two kids had made. When he nodded, the two knocked over the five foot tall structure with delight.
"I raised two boys around that age. I just called in a favor while Kanon was speaking with Shiryu. Dohko is under the Guardianship of Milo and I."
Mu nodded as it made sense. Shaka and the others helped put all the blocks away before they made their way to a small café that had amazing little sandwiches. Shion only had a few bites, not hungry at all. He was sitting between Shaka and Mu, wrapped up in Mu's scarf. Kiki was sitting between Mu and Dohko, who was sitting by Milo, who sat by Camus who was next to Shaka. Mu was busy trying to make sure Kiki was actually eating while talking with Camus about some foreign policy that Shion didn't understand. Dohko was loudly picking a fight with Kiki who was all too happy to yell back. Milo and Shaka were looking at him as they talked. He just wanted to go to sleep. His ear hurt, he was tired, and he was cold.
"Shion, you need to eat some more." Shaka had whispered after he had bent over. Shion shook his head. The sandwich made his stomach feel weird. "Would you rather have a few spoonfuls of soup?" Shaka watched as Shion shook his head again.
"Shion, it's either another fourth a slice of the sandwich, a little bit of soup, or some salad. It's your choice." Shaka looked over at Milo, who shrugged. "Sometimes choices help."
"Soup?" Shion whispered into Shaka's ear. Milo placed a bowl in front of Shion. Shion managed to eat about half of the bowl of soup before looking at Mu, who was trying to get Dohko and Kiki to calm down as they were feeding off of each other's emotions. He decided to reach for Shaka, rubbing his eye with one hand. Shaka pulled Shion into his lap, shocked that Shion had even chosen to be held by someone other then Mu. By the time everyone was full and the bill was paid, Shion was fast asleep, still having a death grip on Mu's scarf. Shaka didn't know how to get up without waking Shion.
"Stand up while holding onto him and he will stay asleep." Mu said, watching as Shaka stood up slowly. Dohko was being lectured by Camus over the fact that he had slammed a sandwich into Kiki's face, who was being lectured by Milo for throwing a fist into Dohko's water.
"Those two are going to destroy a temple, won't they?" Shaka muttered.
"Without a doubt. Are you comfortable with carrying Shion?" Mu had a look of defeat when he looked at his scarf. Shaka just shook his head.
"He's practically weightless. I think I can manage." Mu nodded as he led them over to a small park. Kiki ran off instantly. Dohko just flat out did not know what to do. Milo dragged him over to the play set and started doing the activities with him. Mu raised an eyebrow at Camus.
"Dohko has absolutely no self confidence and the memories that he has are so jumbled up. Athena had half a mind to remove the surplus of memories so that Dohko could actually grow. She did so before we left. The memories he has now are not pleasant but basically, we have to start teaching him how to be a child. I think that you will struggle with that also." Camus sighed. If they could go to the past, all of the Gold Saints would murder Grandmaster Sage. Shion started to whimper, rubbing at his hurting ear in his sleep. Mu got the medication out and woke Shion up after he had gotten the right dose poured out and the ear drops warm. Shion looked like he was plotting mutiny as he obediently opened his mouth and swallowed the medication.
"Shion, I'm going to be putting the drops into your ear. It'll feel weird but I promise it'll help. Tilt you head towards Shaka." Mu could tell that Shion was going to lose it the moment that the ear drops went into his ear. Shaka held Shion a little tighter as Mu had asked him to.
The first drop in and Shion was trying to turn his head away. Mu hurried up with the other two drops before placing a small cotton ball in place to keep the drops from draining too soon. Shion was a sobbing mess by that point and reaching for Mu. Mu cradled Shion close, trying to calm him down. Shaka looked a little lost at what to do. Camus just shrugged at them, aware that when kids felt sick they will cry or lash out.
"You did so well, little one. It's alright. Hush now, it's all over for now." Mu whispered as Shion tired himself out crying. In the distance, Milo, Dohko, and Kiki were playing and laughing.
