~House Of Confrontations~
Time had been moving ever so slowly at Anubis House; it went so slow that it seemed possible that time had stopped. One day after another had passed, and peace had never been so hard to find. Ignorance lingered between the bodies within the house, as the tension began to culminate. At the same time, bonds had been made and friendships had been not broken but bent.
Eddie had been unsuccessful in talking to Patricia and the two hadn't conversed for the entire week, unless it had been absolutely imperative; which in most cases, it was not. Eddie had desperately tried to catch her attention, but somehow, each and every time, she'd find a way to wriggle out of it. Nina had been avoiding Fabian too. She was too shy to look into his eyes. She'd been avoiding eye contact at whatever the cost may have been. It had come to a point where it was almost unbearable. Nina knew that they couldn't spend the next five weeks living like this, but for now, she wasn't sure how else to approach the situation.
Nina had drifted away from Mara, who although sympathetic, was also obviously quite annoyed at Nina for wanting Fabian back. Patricia and Joy had been constantly talking privately in their room, much to the annoyance of the others in the house. Willow had been spending time comforting Mara, while on other occasions she'd be out with Alfie, doing whatever ludicrous thing that they had planned together.
Nina decided it was time to gather Sibuna. The day had finally come. The day that they were all going to Victor's house. Nina walked into the living room, where Amber and Willow were sitting. Willow's jaw hung open as she listened to Amber speak. From what Nina could tell, Amber was speaking very half-heartedly about whatever the discussion topic was.
"Um...Amber..." Nina paused, not wanting to interrupt, "You- I mean we...have to...er," she pointed behind her, signalling to the door.
"Let's go!" Amber said, getting up eagerly.
"Where are you guys going?" Willow asked sadly, with a frown.
"We're going to see Vi-" Nina spoke without thinking, "-vian. Yeah, Vivian. She's a friend of mine."
"Oh well say hello to her for me," Willow smiled.
"Thank goodness you saved me! I've been sitting there for hours!" Amber whispered-shouted, as the pair headed into the foyer.
"What were you talking about?" Nina whispered, as they stopped near the stair case.
"She wanted me to talk to her about fashion school, but believe me, it gets boring after three hours!" She said annoyed. "Anyway, who's Vivian?"
"A person I made up?," Nina told her, waiting for a reaction.
"Okay," Amber shrugged.
"We're going Victor's," Nina told her.
"Okay," Amber shrugged again.
"Yeah, that all sounded a lot more dramatic in my head," Nina admitted.
Amber let out a slight chuckle before getting back on topic and saying, "Let's go round up the herd."
"Alright, I'll get Alfie, and I'll tell him to get Patricia, while I get Jerome," Nina planned.
"Okay..." Amber calculated that in her head, "I think I've got it..."
"Alright, let's go," Nina commanded.
Nina ran down the hallway into Alfie and Jerome's room, while Amber went to Fabian, Eddie, and Mick's.
"Be subtle," Nina whispered to Amber, referring to the fact that Mick was in there.
"Sure, as subtle as you were with Willow," Amber said sarcastically, opening the door and disappearing from Nina's sight.
Nina went into Alfie and Jerome's room, where the two of them were sitting huddled in a corner, suspiciously planning something. They rolled the piece of paper up, when they saw Nina enter.
"Hello Fred and George," she said, raising her eyebrows, "Planning to open Weasleys' Wizarding Wheezes?
"Something like that Martin," Jerome attempted to distract Nina, while Alfie hastily packed away the papers.
"Okay, well, we're going to Victor's now," Nina told him.
"Okay, let me just get my coat," Jerome said, walking over to the wardrobe.
"You own a coat?" Nina asked.
"Like any civilised person," Jerome nodded.
"Okay, well, anyway," Nina dismissed the situation, "Alfie, you have to go and get Patricia."
"Why me?" He asked, his mouth full of Trudy's home made chocolate chip cookies.
"Because you're the only one she'll talk to," Nina explained.
"Fine," he sighed, aggressively taking the last bite of his cookie.
Nina walked out with a smile on her face, as she usually did after talking to those two, and waited out the front of Anubis House until everyone was there.
Once they were all gathered, they split into two cars. Eddie, Nina, Amber and KT in Eddie's car and Patricia, Alfie, Jerome and Fabian in Jerome's car.
"Guys," KT began a conversation while Nina put Victor's address into the GPS, "Has anyone noticed the Sibuna split?"
"The what?" Amber asked, turning to KT, who was sitting beside her in the back seat.
"The Sibuna split," KT repeated, "It's like the four of us, against the other four."
"I'm still not following," Amber shook her head.
"Well, Patricia won't talk to any of us four, Fabian won't talk to Nina and Amber or vice versa, and Amber is avoiding Alfie. Then, if we include the others, Joy and Nina still aren't really on great terms because of Patricia, and for some reason she won't even speak to me. Mara is annoyed at Nina and at Amber because she still likes Mick, and then there's Mick and Willow who are kind of oblivious to what's happening 'behind the scenes'." KT explained.
"My mind, just went-" Amber made an explosion sound effect, and made a matching gesture.
Ten minutes later, both cars pulled up at Victor's house. It was a wonky old building, that was isolated and located near the woods. The roof was blue and the walls were cream, but some of the paint was peeling off.
But outside the house was someone that Sibuna had not expected to see.
~~~~~
As Eddie got out of the car, his eyes were glued to the man who was standing on the front veranda. It was certainly not Victor; that was for sure. However, the face was all too familiar to Eddie. It wasn't the young man that he was used to seeing, but it was still the same person. There was one feature that had remained the same. Those teeth...they'd haunted Eddie's dreams.
"Great-Gramps?" KT breathed in disbelief from behind Eddie.
She sprinted in front of Eddie and the others and ran towards Robert Frobisher-Smythe. She didn't stop running until she came to him; almost bowling him over with her force and engulfing him in a big hug.
"Woah there my dear! You'll knock me over!" He said happily in his weak and croaky voice.
"You're still alive," KT stated.
"Yes, I am," he said pointing to himself, "I think."
"You think?" Eddie frowned.
"Well, it's hard to believe, isn't it, my dear boy?" He pointed out.
"I suppose," Eddie shrugged.
"Where's Victor?" Nina asked, obviously eager to get to the point.
"Hello Nina," he acknowledged.
"How do you-" She began confused.
"I know more about you than you think. You are, after all, the Chosen One," he whispered, "But as for Victor, I haven't the faintest idea where he is, as I was wondering the same myself."
"Well, maybe you could help us instead," Alfie suggested.
"I can try, yes," Frobisher agreed with a nod.
"Well, the thing is sir, we've found a necklace-" Eddie began.
"What kind?" Frobisher asked curiosly.
"Well, it was a snake," Eddie described.
"Silver?" He questioned.
"Erm...yeah," Eddie said.
"I think I know what you're talking about, but I can't be sure. Do you by any chance have a photo?" Frobisher asked.
"I do," Nina said, taking her phone out of her pocket.
"Ah yes," Frobisher nodded after examining the photo.
"What is it?" Amber asked.
"It's dangerous, is what it is," he said.
"How?" Patricia asked, speaking for the first time since they had arrived.
"It is said to have belonged to the ancient God Apep, or as he is otherwise known, Apophis. And I know for a fact that you do not want to let that fall into the wrong hands."
"Why?" KT enquired worriedly.
"Do any of you know anything about Apep?" Frobisher asked them all.
"Um...Yeah," Fabian spoke up, "he was the ancient Egyptian spirit of evil, darkness and destruction who threatened to destroy the sun god Ra as he travelled though the sky at night."
"Exactly my boy, exactly!" Frobisher praised, "But he could only ever be temporarily defeated. This necklace takes control of people. If you wear it, you will most likely pass out for a day or two, before returning as a servant of Apep. When Apep has gathered enough servants, the only thing standing in is way from returning to full power is-"
"-The Chosen One and Osirian," Fabian caught on.
"Yes. But wherever did you find this? People like myself have been searching for centuries, but no one has ever found it. I find it rather peculiar that you should be the ones to find it," he pointed out.
"Oh no, we didn't actually find it," Alfie denied, "Well we did, actually. We found it on an unconscious evil women who was lying in the middle of the forest."
"I see," Frobisher nodded.
"So, are you saying that this women that we found is now a serpent of Apep?" Patricia asked.
"That is what the story implies. She will now continue to gather servants under the control of her new master until he is strong enough to return," Frobisher explained.
"Wait- isn't that exactly what you did?" Alfie asked.
"It is regrettable, but yes. Yes, that is what I did," Frobisher admitted.
"So...how do we stop Apep?" Amber asked.
"Well, I'd think it obvious. The Chosen One and Osirian have to defeat him themselves," he said.
Eddie felt a sinking feeling in his stomach. How were they meant to defeat them when an Osirian no longer existed? Without Eddie, the world was doomed. It would be controlled by Apep. The Spirit of evil and darkness, who would bring chaos to the world.
"Yeah...there may be a slight problem with that," Eddie interrupted.
"And what would that be?" Frobisher asked.
"Eddie kind of...lost his powers," Nina explained, "But him, Joy and I shared a dream. It was of your daughter, Sarah, telling Eddie to get his powers back."
"If Eddie is to regain his powers, he must have a special ritual," he explained, "He must have Osiris' crown and he must have the Chosen One by his side, along with the descendants of my exhibition party."
"Piece of Cake," Alfie smiled.
"Not so much," Nina disagreed, "Where do we get Osiris' crown?"
"In my crypt, in fact, underneath my tomb there is another set of tunnels-" he began.
"Another?" Amber asked, "No offence, but you need to come up with something more original. I've had enough tunnels to last a lifetime."
"Yes well, this one was not made by me. Therefore, I don't even know how to complete the tasks, or what they even are. What I do know, is that at the end of them, lies the crown of Osiris." Frobisher informed Sibuna.
"Who made them?" KT asked.
"The others that were part of my exhibition party," he told them.
"So how do we pass them?" Patricia asked.
"Like you passed all of mine, I presume," he smiled.
"And even if we do pass them, what happens after that?" KT asked.
"I don't know what Apep will do or how he will gain his power, but you will be the only ones who can defeat him," he said, as he turned to leave.
"Oh and sir!" Jerome spoke, "Why did Joy have that dream?"
"I suggest you ask Evelyn Martin about that," he smiled, "Good day to you all!"
~~~~~
In the car trip home, Fabian had been constantly thinking about what Robert had just said. About Apep gathering servants and about Osiris' crown, but most of all, about Evelyn Martin.
What would she know about all of this? How was she connected to this mystery in any way? Why had Frobisher suggested to go speak to her?
What Fabian did know was that they had to go speak to her, so he took out his phone to text Nina. But instead, he resulted in texting Eddie and telling him to tell Nina:
Tell Nina to arrange for us to speak with her Gran.
Fabian saw that Eddie had read the text, and assumed he had passed the message on. When Jerome had finally pulled up in the car park, Fabian got out straight away, and ran to his room to do some more research about what the clue from the website might've meant. But not long after he opened his laptop, there was a sudden knock at the door.
"Come in," he yelled, as the door swung open.
On the other side of the door, stood none other than Nina Martin; the girl who had avoided him all week. She stood there shyly wearing her pink sweater and jeans. Fabian stared at her for a while, before she suddenly decided to speak.
"We need to talk," she said, walking in and closing the door.
"About?" Fabian asked, shutting his laptop.
"The mystery and...us," she sighed.
"Go ahead," Fabian nodded.
"That website that you're using is a fake," she admitted.
"But the information is true," Fabian protested, "Frobisher said so himself."
"Mara and I made it," Nina confessed, "It was part of a plan to humiliate you, and although I thought the information was fake, it was real. Amber believes it was from Sarah."
"So...the vision you had about me going down to the tunnels was a fake too?" He asked.
"Yes," Nina admitted, "But the things on that website are apparently true. However, it's not Apep that we find in the ground, it's Osiris. Well, not him, but his crown."
"So, what you're saying is, is that that vision was irrelevant, the website was intended to be fake but it was actually real, and the riddle was true however misleading, in the fact that we're looking for a different God?" Fabian concluded.
"Pretty much," Nina nodded.
"Good, because I had no idea if I was supposed to decipher that riddle further. Now...about us," Fabian continued with what he really wanted to speak about, "Did you do all that you get revenge on me?"
"I never wanted to do any of that stuff. When you kissed me in the forest, I wanted to stay there with you. But I saw Mara standing there so..." Nina trailed off.
"You did what you knew was right, I get it," Fabian sighed.
"Look Fabian, I'm sorry I broke up with you in that letter. It was a stupid, stupid thing to do, I should've just-" Nina began.
"-No, Nina it's okay. But why did you keep hating me the whole time you were teamed up with Mara?" Fabian asked.
"You'll find I can be quite deceptive," Nina smirked, becoming more calm and comfortable.
"Can I ask you something?" Fabian said, getting to another point he wanted to discuss.
"Anything," Nina said enthusiastically.
"Do you know why Robert suggested to go speak to your Gran?" He asked.
"Oh," Nina said dully, "I really don't know. Eddie told me about your message, and I've arranged to Skype her in two days time."
"Good, we need to find out what's going on with Joy," Fabian approved.
"Yeah," Nina nodded uncomfortably.
"Did you say Mara made that website with you?" Fabian asked suddenly, as the thought struck him.
"Yeah, I may have told her what's been happening," Nina confessed.
"You what!?" Fabian yelled.
"Hey! It's not like I'm the only one secretly telling people! I heard Jerome saved you from Mick, when you were on your way to your Uncle Ade's!" Nina shouted.
"Well yea- wait a sec. How would Jerome know where I was going?" Fabian asked.
"He has his ways," Nina said.
"Alright from now on, we make a Sibuna decree, that without the consent of at least one Sibuna member, you're not allowed to do anything Sibuna related," Fabian suggested.
"Give me the dotted line and I'll sign," Nina agreed.
"Can I tell my Uncle Ade?" Fabian asked, obeying the new decree.
"You can ask him about the necklace, but you can't tell him what it's for," Nina reasoned.
"Alright then," Fabian agreed.
"I'm glad we're talking Fabian," Nina smiled.
"So can we be friends?" Fabian asked hopefully.
"Well...is that what you want?" Nina asked.
"Of course it is," Fabian said, misunderstanding Nina's attempts.
"O-okay," she stammered, heading towards the door, "Friends it is."
She nodded before closing the door gently behind her. That's when Fabian had finally caught on to what he had just done.
"N-No N-Nina, wait!" He spoke, pretty much to himself. "You idiot Fabian!" He cursed. "Every single time."
Fabian suddenly felt desolate and bereft. He wanted Nina to come back into the room so that he could tell her how he really felt. However, it seemed every time he got the opportunity to do so, he stuffed up.
"Hey dude," Eddie said walking into the room, with a bowl of chips in his hand.
"Ever heard of knocking?" Fabian asked annoyed.
"Sorry," Eddie said, offering Fabian a chip from the bowl.
"No thanks," Fabian rejected.
Fabian then went into his top draw of his bed side table to take out the necklace. He had taken what Mick had said (about it being poisonous) into account, but had decided that there was no way it could be.
"Eddie?" He asked worriedly, "Did you by any chance take the necklace out of my draw?"
"No why?" Eddie asked lazily.
"Because it's gone," Fabian gulped.

A/N
Sorry I've been so lazy with updates.
I could give you my excuses, but I won't waste your time.
But I did write this chapter by myself again!
Leah hasn't exactly been helping.
Anyway, discussion time.
Why do you think Frobisher wants them to talk to Nina's Gran?
Why do you think Vera had the necklace?
Where do you think the (potentially life threatening) necklace has disappeared to?
And just because I think of another question:
Are you happy with Fabina's status?
And what is your theory about the whole mystery so far?
Sibuna!
