~House Of Comfort~

Patricia, alongside Fabian and KT, walked into a sight that she hadn't expected to see. Fabian had finally convinced her to start coming to Sibuna meetings and to act exactly like she had last time this situation had occurred. Patricia reluctantly agreed to do so, and had come with them to tell Nina and Eddie; the two people that she wanted to avoid the most. She had decided just to ignore KT, focusing on the fact that Nina and Eddie were the bigger problem.

And the evidence was clear. It was laying flat on the table in front of her. She was watching Nina and Eddie kiss. Patricia didn't know what feeling came over her in that moment. Anger...regret...jealousy? But what she knew did happen was that her eyes were in fact brimming with tears.

She turned around and stormed upstairs, slamming her door hard behind her, releasing all the anger that was boiling up inside her. She flopped down onto her bed and stuffed her face into the nearest pillow, her eyes becoming deep green pools. Joy suddenly came running in through the door. Patricia looked up and grunted before collapsing back into her bed.

"Patricia, are you okay?" She asked tentatively.

"I'm not talking to you," Patricia replied bitterly.

"Alright, I'm sorry for not telling you. I really am. But Willow wasn't meant to tell me in the first place, and then I saw Eddie and-" Joy started ranting, but got abruptly cut off by Patricia.

"Who cares about that cockroach?" She spat.

"What?" Joy asked quietly, sitting next to Patricia on the bed, "Is this about Eddie?"

Patricia sighed. She decide to let Joy comfort her. She knew that Joy had the best intentions as her best friend, and that she kept Patricia's best interests at heart.

"What happened?" Joy questioned sympathetically.

"Eddie kissed Nina," Patricia summarised.

Joy gasped in a very high pitch and Patricia stuck her face back into her pillow once more. She grasped her pillow and squeezed it; for what reason, she didn't know. It just brought her comfort. Her breaths became sharp and audible between sobs and Joy rubbed her back to try and calm her down.

"Hey?" Joy whispered, "Where's the old Patricia? My best friend? The one who'd never get like this over a boy?"

Patricia turned, still lying down and faced Joy. Both girls had a smile plastered to their faces, that seemed impossible to rip off. Joy's smile seemed to wash over Patricia and it just had a sense of calm; something that, for Patricia, wasn't very easy to come by these days.

"I'm having a rough time too, remember? What's important is that we get through this together," she said as she embraced Patricia in a comforting hug.

As they let go of each other, Patricia wiped her tear stained eyes, and threw back her wet hair that had gotten in the way of her crying.

"Patricia?" Joy asked again. "Can you promise me something?"

"What?" She asked.

"Don't try to get revenge on Eddie," she pleaded.

"Why not?" Patricia asked.

"Please will you just trust me?" Joy begged.

"Alright," she agreed.

"But..." Joy's face lit up, "If you're crying over this, then does that mean-"

"-No. It doesn't not," Patricia cut in.

"Patricia, when will you just give in?" Joy asked.

"Give in?" Patricia asked, obviously bewildered to what Joy was attempting to imply.

"Just admit it," Joy shrugged, "You're not over Eddie, and you never will be."

"Joy, tha-" Patricia attempted to deny.

"Patricia, when will you just get it into your head?" She laughed, "You can never deny the truth. The truth always prevails. It will come out in the end, whether you want it to or not."

Patricia considered Joy's theory. In any attempt to deny, it was true that she'd just be argued against. And the fact was, she'd never win the arguments. Because the truth always prevailed.

"Fine," Patricia shrugged, "Let's say I do. So what?"

"Well, you talk to him about it," Joy suggested.

"Sure. Right after he kisses Nina," she said sarcastically, "I may like him, but I still hate him."

"When will you ever make sense?" Joy sighed. "And don't you get it?"

"Get what?" Patricia asked.

"He's playing with your emotions," Joy said, "He obviously wanted you to see that kiss because if you ran away crying-"

"I wasn't crying," Patricia argued.

"Whatever," Joy dismissed, "If you ran away crying, it means that you still like him, and that you're jealous."

"What's wrong with me Joy?" Patricia asked, "I hate him but-"

"You love him?" Joy finished for her.

"But he doesn't love me," Patricia pointed out.

"Yes he does," Joy retaliated.

"No. He doesn't," Patricia argued, "So there's no point me crying over a boy I'll never get."

Joy just smiled.

"What?" Patricia asked.

"You admitted you cried," Joy smirked.

"Oh stop smirking!" Patricia hit her best friend playfully, "He likes Nina. Case closed."

"HE DOESN'T! Joy yelled, however not angrily. "Him and Nina are opposites."

"Opposite's attract," Patricia pointed out.

"Yeah, but they're TOTAL opposites," Joy argued.

"Chosen One and Osirian," Patricia mumbled, only audible to her own ears.

"What?" Joy asked.

"Hmm?" Patricia hummed, pretending to not know what Joy was asking about.

"Anyway, as I was saying, they don't like each other. Nina likes Fabian and Eddie likes you," Joy sent her message powerfully, "Not any other way. They kissed to make you and Fabian jealous, so that you'd realise how much you miss them. It's a cruel trick, but it's pretty smart."

"Wrong," Patricia persisted.

"Whatever. Just let it be known, that the truth always prevails," she said.

And with that, she left the room, leaving Patricia to think. 5 years ago, she would never in her wildest dreams act like this over a boy. She just wanted to go back in time, remembering when she didn't give a damn about these things.

"Who am I?" Patricia muttered to herself.

~~~~~
"WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU TWO?!" KT whisper-shouted to Eddie and Nina, after Fabian and Patricia were long gone.
They both looked up at her innocently, but remained silent.
"What was that for?" She asked, her voice more calm than before.
However, Eddie seemed oblivious of KT's presence in the room. His eyes seemed to glare at the door, absorbed in thought and careless of his surroundings.
"Earth to Eddie?" KT asked, waving her hand in front of his face.
"Hmm? Oh yeah," Eddie asked, being snapped out of his trance and back to reality.
"What's wrong?" KT queried.
"I think I made Patricia..." He hesitated guilty for a moment before adding, "...cry."
"Then the plan worked," Nina pointed out.
"What plan?" KT sighed.
"Well...I kind of had this plan," Nina confessed, "That Eddie and I should...er-" she scratched the back of her neck nervously, "-kiss and then Patricia and Fabian would be overridden with jealousy and sadness, and they'd realise how much they miss us."
"But, Fabian did miss you. That's why he kissed you," KT pointed out, "Now he's just going to hate you."
"Yeah...I didn't really think that through, did I?" Nina admitted.
KT shook her head and turned her attention to Eddie, who had continued to remain silent.
"As for you..." KT began to talk to him, before abruptly stopping and hitting him straight across the face. "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!?"
"Ouch!" Eddie exclaimed, rubbing his now red cheek.
"Have you met Patricia," KT continued, "As if she wasn't mad enough at you as it is, you've gone and made things worse."
"I..." Eddie stuttered.
"Congratulations buddy," KT remarked sarcastically, clapping slowly.
"So...what should we do?" Eddie asked, in need of desperate help.
"Oh no. You don't go ruining your relationships and then come crying to me so I can fix it for you," KT clarified.
"Please KT?" Eddie begged.
"Alright, I'll help," KT agreed.
"Thanks," Nina smiled.
"So-" KT began, before being cut off.
The door had swung wide open, to reveal a very bubbly Amber; one that had not often been seen since they had arrived at Anubis the other day. She strutted into the room and addressed everyone in there.
"Me and Mick are back together!" She announced happily.
"That's great Amber, but we're facing bigger issues here," KT told her.
"What issues? What can be bigger than my news?" Amber asked curiously.
"You know, just the minor factor that these two kissed," KT said casually.
"That's not that big of a- WAIT WHAT?!" Amber squealed in fury, finally coming to senses with the intensity of the situation.
"Um..." Nina stammered.
Amber closed the door and sat down on Fabian's bed, next to KT, to face the other two.
"When? Where? Why?" She interrogated with out elaborating.
"When?" Eddie echoed, "Like 10 minutes ago."
"Where?" Nina continued, "In here."
"And why?" KT finished off, "Because of Nina's 'plan'."
"Plan?" Amber scowled.
"The plan kind of worked," Eddie admitted, "We made Patricia cry."
"Cry?" Amber asked confused.
"Which means she still likes Eddie," Nina clarified.
"Oh," Amber finally realised, "So why is this an issue?"
The three of them just stared at her like she was a complete an total idiot.
"Oh, right," she smiled, "I get it!"
"You have no clue what we're talking about, do you?" KT asked.
"Not a clue," Amber admitted straight up.
"If Patricia still likes Eddie, and Eddie kissed me, imagine how she's feeling," Nina prompted.
"She'll be overwhelmed with emotions," KT added.
"Amber, it simply just means that Patricia will want revenge," Eddie said.
"Well why didn't you just say that!?" Amber exclaimed, throwing her hands up in the air.
KT rolled her eyes and shook her head at Amber.
"So, what's the new plan?" Eddie asked the girls around him.
"Eddie, you go and kiss Patricia," Amber told him.
"WHAT?!" KT, Eddie and Nina shouted in unison.
"It usually works for you two," Amber shrugged.
"She's...got a point," KT admitted.
"What? No! Have you all gone insane?" Eddie protested, standing up from his bed.
"I'm with Eddie on this one," Nina agreed, standing up next to him, "That plan will never work."
"Well, it is your plan which got Eddie into this mess in the first place," Amber argued.
Nina looked down sheepishly, suddenly becoming apparently very interested in her shoes.
"Eddie's not the only one in the mess," KT added, "Nina's in it too."
"I knew Fabina was still on the treadmill," Amber smiled, "You make it so obvious."
"First of all, on the treadmill? What does that mean? And secondly, it's been obvious?" Nina asked, "How? I've been ignoring Fabian for the past two days."
"Firstly, it means your still going or running; It's figurative language. And secondly, I'm Amber Millington, keeper of all knowledge. I know everyone's secrets," she sighed happily.
"Alright then," Nina smiled, "Do you keep the knowledge of what Eddie and I should do?"
"This conversation is getting repetitive," Amber observed, "I told you, Eddie should go and kiss Patricia."
"Okay, you've officially gone insane Amber," Eddie declared, "Do we need to put you in a home with Harriet?"
KT snickered into her hand as she watched Amber frown, and mouth the name 'Harriet' to Nina in confusion. Nina shrugged, being just as unaware and Amber continued with the conversation.
"I am not insane, thank you very much," Amber disagreed.
"Yes you are," Eddie protested.
"Am not!" Amber frowned.
The banter continued, and the dialogue became repetitive. Nina and KT just stared at each other helplessly, with their hands over their ears, and the only thing KT could instinctively think to do was to intervene.
"SHUT UP!" she shouted, drawing out the sounds of both u's.
"Sorry," Eddie apologised.
"Right, now Eddie see if you can speak to Patricia, Nina go talk to Mara, and Amber- just find something to do in the meantime" KT instructed.
KT sighed after they all left the room.
~~~~~

"Hey Mara," Nina smiled weakly, walking into Mara, Willow and KT's room.

"Oh hey, Nina," she acknowledged.

"What ya working on?" Nina asked.

"I've come up with this really intricate plan to use against Fabian," Mara explained happily.

"Mara, about that..." Nina trailed off.

"What?" Mara asked, looking up for her work.

"I don't think we should do that prank anymore," Nina confessed.

"I agree," Mara nodded her head in thought.

"You-you do?" Nina stuttered.

"Yeah, that plan was so bad," She said with a wave of her hand, "This one is so much better."

"Oh, actually Mara, I meant that, I don't want to prank Fabian anymore," Nina clarified.

"Oh," Mara said, unsure of what else to say, "Why?"

"Because..." Nina hesitated.

"Because you still like him," Mara completed for her, nodding knowingly, although she was disgusted. "He broke your heart too Nina!"

"No, Mara, he didn't. Actually, I broke his," Nina said, looking down at her hands in her lap.

"Then why didn't you let him kiss you?" Mara asked confused.

"Because...I care about you too," Nina admitted looking back up at Mara.

"What?" Mara asked, touched, but still utterly bewildered.

"I know we didn't get along well, back when I was at Anubis, but that doesn't mean I don't care about you. Fabian did the wrong thing, and I'm sure he'll admit that, but I..." she trailed off.

"You still really like him," Mara finished, hanging her head.

"Yeah," Nina mumbled quietly in reply.

Mara had to stop and think for a minute. This was a lot for her to take in. On one hand, she was boiling over the top with anger at the fact that Nina was going back on their deal and plan. But then, on the other hand, Nina had liked Fabian the whole time, but she hadn't kissed him back because she knew that Mara was hurt.

Mara was in a predicament, and she could not make up her mind. She didn't care about Fabian anymore. And now that she'd seen Mick for what felt like the first time in forever, she finally realised how much she missed him and...liked him. She figured that maybe it would just be easier to hide her feelings towards Nina and lie instead.

"Alright, let's not prank him," Mara agreed, putting on a fake smile.

"Thanks Mara," Nina smiled, reaching her arms out for a hug.

Mara accepted her embrace as she lightly grabbed Nina's back and gently pulled herself in. Her chin rested on Nina's shoulder for a while, and when Mara was absolutely sure that Nina wouldn't see it, she scowled, in order to stop herself from screaming with rage.

They let go of each other, just as the door clicked open, and in came a bouncing Willow, who was covered in paint.

"Where have you been?" Mara asked curiously.

"I went paintballing with Alfie," she smiled happily.

"Excuse me," Mara changed the subject, "but I need to go speak to Mick."

"Mara, wait!" Nina shouted.

Mara stopped outside the door frame and turned on her heals to see Nina biting her bottom lip. Mara raised her eyebrows in question, and Nina went ahead.

"Mick and Amber..." She hesitated, "Just got back together."

Mara felt her heart drop into her toes like a heavy weight had suddenly been placed upon them. And in synchronisation, her smile turned into a frown - a very sad frown. She walked back in slowly, not paying attentions to her surroundings, but to her thoughts. She sat down on the bed and looked back up at Nina; who a second ago she was annoyed at. Now all she wanted to do was hug her, or at least some one, to relieve the pain she felt.

"Oh," was all she was able to say.

"Are you okay Mara?" Willow asked, sitting on the bed and wrapping her arm around Mara. "Your aura seems a bit off."

Normally Mara would roll her eyes at a remark such as this, but today she gave Willow a surprisingly strong, rib-crushing, pain-filled hug. It took Willow by shock at first, but after a second, she got used to it, and hugged Mara back comfortingly.

Mara looked up at Nina with a bit of a dirty look, and Nina, realising the tension, decided it was best if she got up and left Mara and Willow alone. And that's exactly what she did.

Willow sat there patiently happy to go along with whatever Mara wanted. She went and got her some cookies and cordial from the kitchen down stairs, and tried numerous times to make her laugh. Mara wasn't that sad not to smile. She would smile occasionally, but her smiles would be weak, and seemingly forced. Although to Mara, they were real. She had never realised how happy she was around Willow until this particulate incident had occurred.

The two girls sat in a loll in their beds, talking about whatever topic came to mind, avoiding the topic of Mick or Fabian. Willow tried to keep steering the conversation in a completely different direction; she wanted to talk about whether or not unicorns were real, but Mara had politely dismissed it.

Instead, they talked about the girls in the house. Patricia and Eddie's relationship was always a classic to discuss. They talked about what was going on in Joy's life and Mara told Willow what she'd heard from Amber about fashion school, (Willow was now determined to find out more from Amber). They chatted forever about how good Patricia was at singing, and imitated what they expected her to be like (which sounded a hell of a lot like a choking cat who was spluttering fur balls everywhere).

After a while the two girls shut the blinds and talked in the dark. Although it wasn't night time, it had a cosy feel. The luminous dial on Mara's watch was the only source of light as the girls conversed in the dark.

I AM SORRY I TOOK FOREVER TO UPDATE.

I wasn't really in the mood for writing for a while, and I had other things going on.

I had to write this chapter by myself, so I got a bit sick of it.

But I'm back!

Patricia still likes Eddie, and Eddie still likes Patricia...

How will that turn out?

How's Patricia now going to approach Eddie and Sibuna?

Can KT help Nina and Eddie?

Should Mara confront Mick about her feelings?

I've assigned Peddie a song for this chapter:
