House of Interference/House of Official
After further interrogation, Eddie and Nina were left alone in the cellar. When the door closed, it was nearly pitch black, though it would have been completely if not for the moonlight seeping through the window.
The etorphine had almost completely worn off, so they could now feel and move, but when they did shift position, everything they felt was accompanied with a sensation.
"This trip wasn't fun," Eddie whispered, laughing a bit.
"That's funny?" Nina asked.
"It kind of is."
Nina gave in and giggled along. "Ok, so this trip wasn't our best. Anyway, we have to get-"
Before she could finish her sentence, the cellar door swung open, letting light in. They couldn't see who it was yet but heard footsteps pound down the steps. Once I clear sight, they could see it was Rufus.
Rufus must've noticed their scared expressions when he told them, "Don't be afraid. I'm just here to talk." He went and leaned against the table. "Victor seemed a bit crazy, huh? He's always that way. I must admit, I have some crazy moments myself. But, compared to Sarah I'm the bad guy. And compared to Victor, I'm the good guy. I really don't know what I'm trying to be, but I know I can't ever be pure of heart with so much power. You two understand that. Just as Sarah and I are the Osirion and Chosen One, you are as well."
"Where are you going with this?" Eddie questioned.
"When granted power, we want more. It's human nature. But some people aren't meant to handle certain power. For example, Victor and the elixir."
"You don't want him to have any of the elixir," Nina figured.
"He just doesn't know what it's like to handle power, like I just said. I want to split off from him with Sarah. But I still want help with the elixir, the book, and finding the Cup of Ankh. I want your help."
Nina and Eddie glanced at eachother.
"You two can have as much of the elixir as you want! I'm begging you, please."
"We're not interested in the elixir," Eddie frowned. "It's not our thing."
"How could it not be?"
"Everyone's not crazy for eternal life," Nina responded.
Rufus seemed as though he were about to retaliate, but he just snarled and left them alone in the cellar. Eddie and Nina looked at eachother in the darkness.
"It's not the crazy Rufus we know, but he is definitely on the road to crazy," Nina admitted.
"For sure," Eddie agreed.
After Rufus left, it took a while, but the cellar door opened once more. Down came Sarah and William as quietly as they could.
"Hi," Sarah smiled, "we're here to rescue you."
Nina and Eddie felt relieved as William and Sarah untied the ropes around their wrists and helped them up from the chairs. Nina grabbed her locket, and accompanied the other three up the stairs. They silently made their ways to the front door, going outside Anubis House.
"Have a safe trip back to whatever time you're from," Sarah told them.
"If you ever come back, you can always trust us," William reassured.
"We know," Nina admitted. "Thanks."
Nina prepared to open the portal, but just as she tried, everything around her and Eddie began to shake. The scenery broke into fragments until nothing was left but white everywhere. It was impossible to tell how long it reached on as well as up. It appeared to have no end. Everything was just a blank, empty white space.
"Ok, I'm really confused," Eddie said, looking around.
Suddenly, a man with white angel wings, bright silver eyes, and white hair(even though he was young) appeared. He was wearing a white and gold robe and in his right hand was a staff, the top of it structured as a bird's head.
"I am Thoth," he introduced himself. "God of wisdom and knowledge, upholder of the Universe and time. I find there's been an interference of time. Why must it be you two?"
"You mean for being the Chosen One and Osirion?" Eddie asked.
"Precisely. Since I know you two are, I can't kill you. Usually I would get rid of anyone who would cause such a disturbance, but frankly you two are much to important. If I were to kill either of you, I'd be banished to Duat in the blink of an eye. Tell me, why have you been disturbing time."
Eddie nudged Nina to explain. Nina did so. "We met this guy, and I found out my locket could open a portal to the past, so we started using it, and traveling back in time. The guy we met doesn't remember how he ended up where he did when I found him, so we're trying to figure out how and why it did. He can only tell us other parts of his life, though some of those things he won't reveal either. We're left to unravel these things through the past."
Thoth hesitated before giving his next response. "Very well. Though I will be keeping my eyes on you two. And your friends."
Eddie and Nina thought they were off the hook for being in possession of his book until he said:
"And I trust my book is in good hands? It will not be used at all, only read?"
Nina and Eddie glanced at eachother and then nodded frantically.
"Don't think I didn't know. I always know...Now, I'll be sending you off back to your own time. Time travel in moderation, understand?"
"Yes, we understand," Eddie nodded.
Thoth waved his staff before them, and they found themselves suddenly waking up on Nina's apartment floor. Nina's locket was tightly held in the palm of her hand. The others had been waiting for them and were currently asleep.
Nina and Eddie stood up to wake them.
"You're back!" Amber exclaimed when she was awoken. Her voice woke up the others who hasn't yet been awoken.
Amber hugged Nina tightly and had her sit next to her. Eddie went and sat next to Patricia.
"Wait," Nina paused. "Where's Fabian."
Sibuna fell silent.
"Guys?"
"We don't approve of him," Jerome admitted. "Personally, I have nothing against him, but they-" Jerome motioned at the others with his hands, "-chased him out."
"Oh really?" Patricia snarked. "Says the one who called Alfie his replacement."
"Don't blame me; Alfie actually made sense in everything he was saying."
"Thanks, Jerome," Alfie grinned.
"Don't mention it."
"Guys!" Nina breathed. "I invited him back, and he agreed. It's ok for him to be a part of Sibuna again."
"But he broke your heart," Joy pointed out. "We're just helping."
"Ok, first you guys throw me a party to keep my mind off him. Then Jerome and Amber have me gain closure with him, and we know how that turned out. Then you guys accompanied me on my date with him, and it went well, in the end. And now you guys chase him out of Sibuna?! I don't get it with you guys!"
"Well when you put it that way, we just sound like horrible people," Alfie pouted.
Nina was obviously flustered. "You guys aren't helping anymore! And Alfie, what you guys did was horrible. I'm giving him another chance. Just accept that, please."
"Nina's right," Eddie agreed. "This really isn't helping anymore. If Nina invited him, then Nina's ok with him being here, and we should be too. Maybe he doesn't deserve to be here as much as the rest of us, but he counts for something. Hey, I didn't like to see Nina hurt either, but she's not hurt anymore, so why do you still hate Fabian?"
The others looked at eachother. Eddie and Nina were right. There was no need to hate Fabian any longer. The only reason they hated Fabian in the first place was that he broke up with Nina, but now Nina was comfortable with him.
They were about to give in to forgiving Fabian until Patricia monotonously said, "Well, he did say he couldn't do this Sibuna-mystery thing anymore. If he walked out on that, why should we let him back in?"
Amber agreed to that and so did Joy, but Nina, Eddie, Jerome, Alfie, and even William felt it was time to welcome Fabian back as a member. He might not be as involved anymore, and he might not be in it wholeheartedly, but maybe it was time.
"Obviously Amber, Joy, and Patricia are the only ones against Fabian now," Nina observed, "and since majority rules, Fabian's back in. So, I'm calling him, and then we'll discuss everything we need to about the mystery."
~~~~~
End of the chapter here! Fabian has officially been declared back into Sibuna.
How do you feel about Fabian being an official member once more?
And just a side question here, but what do you think they'll discover about William's past that they don't know yet?
(I would say it'll be revealed in the future, but it's technically going to be revealed in the past in the future chapters of this book, so...quantum physics everybody.)
