Why...

This is a rewrite of the old Hourglass story, because I had really bad grammar back then, plus this is a lot sadder, so that makes it better : )

"Mom." Mom was over near the egg.
"Yes, Dear?" She said. The egg was about to hatch. Mom was sure that the dragonet inside was a boy. She'd already chosen a name and everything.
"What are you gonna name him?" I asked. I walked over and sniffed it. I wanted to know.
"I'm thinking Moonacre, because his egg looks to be the most like a Nightwing's." I nodded. I was still a tiny dragonet.
     "I'm gonna go outside."

We lived in the Kingdom of the Sand and I loved to bulid little sandcastles. I was almost done building my latest castle when I heard a faint hissing.
"Well well well, what have we here? A dragonet, in the desert. All alone." A voice sneered. I looked around and saw two giant Sandwings. They looked like robbers, maybe even mercenaries. Their eyes were black and malicous. They slowly moved closer and closer.

There was a flash of blue. I saw the Sandwings eyes widen in fear.
"Get away, from my daughter." Mom growled.
"Make us." One of the Sandwings sneered. Mom roared, sending her icebreath towards them. Thy dodged it and started to walk to my mother, forgeting all about me. I heard Dad's roar as he pounced on the nearest Sandwing, biting him. Mom shot more icebreath. The two Sandwings ran off, one of them with a frozen foot. I glanced over at Mom and Dad. They were on the floor, hardly breathing. I ran over as quick as I could. Across Mom's chest was a giant scratch, which I knew was poisoned, because it was all black and dead looking. I glanced at dad, I instantly knew he was already dead, his eyes were glazed over and he was staring at the sky.

"Mom! Mom, Get up! You can't die! What about my little brother! Please get up!" I shook them, they didn't move.
"Hourglass..." Mom whispered. I ran over to her. She put my face in her talons, hugging me close.
"Take care of your little brother, don't let Dawn push you around and don't let Dusk fuss to much."
"You can't leave us, we need you." I cried. She did her best to smile, but it turned into a grimace.
"It is my time to go, please, take care of your brother." Mom whispered, closing her eyes.
"I love you, my little gem."

That night me, Dusk, and Dawn huddled together and cried. Cried for Mom, cried for Dad, cried for our little brother, who would grow up without a family. Even Dawn cried, which was quite odd, seeing as she never really cared about the family before now. I heard a small squeek behind me, so I looked over my shoulder to see a small dragonet cuddling Diamond.
Wheres the egg! I thought to myself, looking around. I saw the egg splinters and it eventually just clicked. The dragonet holding Diamond is my little brother. I run over and hug him close, hugging Diamond as well. Dawn and Dusk join me and we all sit in silence, hugging eachother and crying.

"I want to name him Moonacre." I whisper after a while. Dusk looks at me, I can see the pain in his eyes when I mention the name Mom chose. Dawn honestly looked like she could care less.
"If that's want you want G." Dusk says, doing his best to sound optimistic.
"It'll be okay Dusk, you'll see." I told him, although I don't think he felt the same. The dragonet, Moonacre, looked up at me and smiled.
"And you, little Moon, will live the greatest life any dragonet could ask for."

Is it just me that cried a little bit or no... I feel really bad for doing this to Glassy... but it has to be done...
