CHAPTER 57
ROMAN POV:
I had been driving for a couple of hours now, with no destination but the bottom of heartache.
I looked over at the half empty bottle of whiskey lying on the passenger seat that the boys and I were drinking from last night...ugh! I couldn't even if I wanted to I thought, and turned the radio up just as a real heartbreaker of a song came on the stereo.
I don't know if the powers that be were setting the scene for me, but it suddenly began raining hard and heavy outside, with large droplets of water beating down on the window pane obscuring my view. I was finding it difficult to see to drive, as my own eyes had begun heavily pouring too with the pain of losing Faith. I had gone over it again, and again, and again in my mind, coming up empty every time as to what I had done to make her break up with me. Whatever it was, she was taking it pretty bad, and I had watched on the monitors, along with everyone else in the back and around the world, as she took whatever it was that was bothering her out on Summer Rae's face.
I figured a large part of it was also to do with Paige, but something else had definitely happened to make her so angry out there...I just didn't know what. I kept seeing the cold expression in her eyes as she dropped the necklace into my hand, before watching the rage of fire build in them as she later slapped my face hard and ran out of the stadium. I wanted so desperately to call her, but I knew she would never answer, and to be honest, I didn't even know what to say if she did, except why? So I decided to just drive until there was no more road left, then I would drive some more.
After a time, I pulled over to the side of the road and turned the car radio off. In fact I turned off the entire engine, and sat silently just watching the rain beat heavily on the windows outside.
I was sat there for about a half hour, before the pain became too much to bear. I needed fresh air, so I opened up the car door and stepped outside, letting the rain soak my hair, face and clothes as I stood drowning in my sorrows. I didn't care, I just wanted the pain to stop.
I turned when I heard a light buzzing sound, looking around curiously to see what it was. But there was so much rain coming down, I couldn't make out where it was coming from. I kept looking, until I spotted my cell flashing and vibrating on the seat inside. I went to open the door so I could quickly answer it, praying in my heart that it was my babygirl Faith calling me.
''Fuck!!!'' I hissed, angrily bagging my fist on the hood of the car, before peering through the glass at my keys sitting in the ignition. I tried frantically opening every door, but they were all locked....great I sighed with irritation.
I could see my cell had stopped ringing now, but then started again two seconds later. I peered through the glass once more, but the damn rain made it difficult for me to see who it was. I used my sleeve to try and wipe away some of the rain, and when I did, I felt my heart leap into my mouth....It was Faith!
I didn't hesitate, I just whipped my shirt off and wrapped it round my elbow, smashing the window in, and grabbing the phone!
''Roman! Oh thank god! I've been trying to call you for ages now!'' she cried. Her sweet voice instantly bringing life back into my body ''Where are you baby?'' she sobbed ''we need to talk. I'm so so so sorry for everything! I messed up, I messed up bad! Please baby, please just tell me where you are and I will come meet you'' she cried.
''I...I actually don't know'' I told her, trying to peer through the rain and see where the I was. Oh no...I thought, as the road and everything around me suddenly began spinning out of control!
''I'll...I'll call you back...'' I said, and let the phone drop to the floor, and hurried as fast as I could to grab the blue bottle from my back pocket...
20 MINUTES LATER...
Bzzzzzzz Bzzzzzzz
I could feel my back vibrating, so I opened my eyes then quickly closed them. It was still pouring very heavily with rain, but I somehow managed to sit up, quickly realizing I must have blacked out and fallen on my phone. I stood up and dusted myself off, before bending down to pick it up from under the leaves. Luckily it was only a little wet, as my body had pretty much shielded all the rain from ruining it. I knew my tablets had kicked in now, because the road and everything around me had stopped spinning, and I couldn't be more grateful.
Oh my god Faith! I thought, quickly swiping the screen to see about 26 missed calls and 11 messages. I ignored them all, and immediately called her back!
She answered straight away.
FAITH POV:
''Roman?! Oh my god are you ok?? I've been so worried about you baby! Where are you?!'' I couldn't think straight for worry right now, all I wanted was just to see him.
''I actually don't know Faith, I...I took along drive to the middle of nowhere apparently, now I'm kinda lost'' he said quietly.
''Well, try and get back into town, at least to where there's some sort of land mark you can tell me, and I will come and meet you ok baby. I still love you, and I...-''
''I'll call you when I see something recognizable'' he said, and closed the phone.
I just stood looking at my cell...well at least he answered, I'm grateful for that. I knew I had a lot of making up to do...if he let me. And so I went and stood round the side of the hotel, and lit up another cigarette, trying to revise in my mind the best approach to take when we saw each other. I hope Seth wasn't too mad at me for sneaking his 20 pack, but honestly with the way I was feeling right now, I didn't have room to care. My heart was just beating so fast with anticipation, as I stood waiting for Roman to call.
About 35 minutes later, Roman rang my phone.
''Baby where are you???'' I answered eagerly.
''I'm by a Tacobels, just off of interstate 10, not too far from the stadium'' he said quietly.
''I'LL BE THERE! And Roman...I love you baby'' I whispered softly.
''Um...yeah...see you soon'' he said, and closed the phone again.
I quickly stubbed out my cigarette, took a deep breath, and hurried from the hotel toward the main road to flag down a taxi. He was understandably hurt, I could hear it in his voice, and it broke my heart, becau- ''Taxi!'' I yelled, frantically waving my arms to stop it. I sighed in relief as it pulled over to me, and I quickly jumped in.
''Where to ma'am?''
''Tacobels takeaway please, just off interstate 10 by the Dallas Stadium, and hurry!'' I begged.
''Yes ma'am'' the driver grinned, and set the meter running before taking off down the road.
I quickly tried to rearrange my look so it wouldn't appear like I'd been in a train wreck when I met Roman. I started by yanking out the rest of the purple extensions from my hair, which Summer Rae had already ruined. I then took out my compact from my bag and observed my face...oh man, I looked awful! I had dried blood round my nose area, and black mascara streaks all down my cheeks! Not wanting to waste any time, I quickly touched up my face as best I could, and sprayed on the last few drops of my cherry almond perfume round my neck and wrists. It was raining pretty heavily now which I loved, so I rolled down the window a little, letting the fresh sound of rain soothe my ears as we drove. It didn't take us long, and my heart began to race when I caught sight of Roman standing off to the side of the road by his car.
''Here will do driver, thank you'' I said, quickly paying him before jumping got out with my bag. I stood nervously looking over at Roman. I wanted nothing more than to run over right now and kiss him hard, have him embrace me in his arms and make me feel loved again. But the look in his eye was so cold and uninviting, that I lowered my own to the ground in guilt, and slowly made my way over to him.
